Stanislav Tolkachev is a techno pioneer from Ukraine. His productions are influenced both by the classic sound of Detroit and the sleek minimalistic tendencies born in Berlin. He is focused on experimentation with textures and psychedelic sounds, taking inspiration from many different sources. MORD's Berlin-based diamond. Charlton, was born in 1982 in Rotterdam (Netherlands). At the age of 17 he began chasing the early rave parties which were happening all over Holland and around 1999 his love for electronic music turned into an obsession and he started DJing. It was around this time that Charlton first came face to face with techno. He started producing abd building up his unique sound in 2001. Boosted by the Electronic Music Productions study he took at one of Holland’s best known music production colleges, he started putting his work together for his first live PA, which debuted in 2004. 12 years later we see him playing regularly at the purest underground events all over the world, being a resident artist of the powerful label MORD with mind-blowing EPs and as well their nights at Berghain, and also being part of labels like Audio Assault, Krill and the unforgettable M_Rec. Here it is our 19th podcast with Mark Morris ! Mark is in the music game for several years and has been releasing such a bunch of quality Techno tracks. Everything started back in 2007 with a very first release and that never stopped till now with great labels crossed on his path such as M_Rec, CLR , DROID , Kombination research , Naked Lunch or more recently Starkstrom Schallplatten. But these last years and even more in 2013, Mark mainly focused on his own imprint, Ketra Records. He created the label back in 2009 and he’s now releasing most of his music on it. He has just released what we can call a huge album containing 33 tracks. Seems to be a lot even too much but every track is great and all of them together get to make it a very interesting cutting edge Techno project. As a DJ Mark Morris performed at many great venues in Europe such as the infamous Tresor Club , Stattbad (where he worked as Art Director STATTMEDIA) , Arena , M-Bia (as promoter w Aschenbescher Fur Menschen) , Kantine am Berghain in Berlin and in South America where he has been touring Colombia and Argentina and Chile (as promoter w zerotwonine chile) when he used to live there for a period from December 2012 to July 2013. Since their debut release in 2011, NX1 has put out some inspiring material on their own label (NX1) and others like Semantica, M_Rec and End of Dayz. The group consist of Samot and Surit, both with great interest in electronic music. The interest evolved into passion, and the passion evolved into techno music. Their live sessions display a wide variety of styles in techno. Heavy and humid atmospheres that permeate the dance floor, breaks and fat basses that investigate the deeper and more intellectual part of the genre. Fusing classic sounds with new evolved ones and with touches of IDM and electronic music from the 90s. We are a bit stoked to launch todays episode. We are privileged to have Fabrizio Lapiana(@fabrizio-lapiana) as our guest for this week’s episode. As an artist, producer, DJ and record label owner, Fabrizio has contributed to the techno scene since the early nineties. His label Attic Music was founded in 2008 and has commanded a reputation known for quality and good music. Fabrizio has recently released EPs on his own label, as well as on M_REC. In this weeks episode he showcases a variety of styles with a hypnotic techno flow. As he said himself “It’s not perfect, but it’s more real”. And when you play with vinyl only, we can’t do anything else but agree! Please make sure to enjoy this weeks mix, and read the Q/A: Q: How was the rave scene in Rome in the 90s, and how did it influence you? A:It's been very important for me and all italian techno movement. In that time Rome was italian techno, the only italian techno scene. In 1991 I was too young to go to Rave parties but I was connected with rave scene through a local radio station that pushed all best techno of the moment and informed people about rave parties (legal warehouse parties)...And all this connected with a great records shop, re-mix. I was lucky to follow djs like Lory D, Leo Anibaldi, Luca Chucchetti, Freddy K, etc etc. In that time I realized to love techno and to want become a dj. Q: How do you seduce the crowd during a event? A:I just make my personal journey during my set, of course not forgetting the crowd Q: How is the Techno scene in Rome today? A:I think it's a good moment. There are different nice parties and a lot of great artists in my opinion. Q: Any extra words? A:About this podcast, I just spent some minutes to decide the first track to start the mix, as I usually do in the gigs. I like improvvisation. He is behind the acclaimed Deep Space Helsinki radio show as well as the label, under the same name, both run and co-founded alongside Juho Kusti. For the past decade, Samuli has been releasing his take of top-notch, icy, minimalesque techno across many of the best labels (Mote, Perc, M_Rec, Komisch, Balans). For us, he contributed the entire hour of 100% hardware techno performed live at Flow Festival in Helsinki last month. The set is full of fresh material and at 132 beats-per-minute, it twists and turns pushing through layers of trippy, rhythmic techno… all arranged live. We welcome: @juhokahilainen, a Finnish Dj and producer who started his career by pushing techno tracks back in the nineties. Next to being a journalist and family man, Juho has had limited time devote to his passion for music. But despite this he has put out some releases on labels like BPitch Control, Prologue and M_Rec Ltd. He has also produced under his own label HYV, a label that concentrates on strictly “raw” music with machines like TR-909, TR-808, TR-606 and SH-101. Well that’s a lot said about the past, what about the present? Juho is currently working on his secont M_Rec release hopefully to be released vary soon. So grab your copy as soon as it hits the record shop. Also he working and releasing a second HYV featuring not only himself, but collaboration with Juho and his friend. We are truly thankful that we have the opportunity to broadcast this mix and would like to say that it reflects a warmth and soul that has been put into the making of this set.
