The Local Selection Mix returns for it's 170th edition courtesy of one of the most promising techno act's on our emerald isle, James Cherry. The young DJ & producer has provided an hour long expedition into deep and winding soundscapes, equipped rippling synth lines and dazzling textures. James Cherry has been loitering around the fringes of the Irish techno scene for some time, with multiple stand out performances in the seminal Hangar club and some recent show's in Dublin's newest techno fortress, Cellar. The young DJ offers a divergent sound to the rumbling kicks and screeches that often inhabit Dublin's sound systems from week to week. James Cherry delves into deeper territories with trippy melodies, metallic percussive grooves, pulsating modulations and direct techno power. Having recently released on coveted label's such as Berlin's Corpus, Dublins Delinquent Delivery and most notably an album on the fabled Subsist Records which has been home to instrumental techno figures such as Stanislav Tolkachev, SHXCXCHCXSH, Ritzi Lee, Mike Storm & more. It's clear that James Cherry is carving his name into history of Irish techno. For James's contribution to the Local Selection Mix he stay's true to his clean-cut and spaced out sound, whilst delivering with power and precision. The youngster lyes on hypnotising rhythms and quivering energy shifts, as he keeps his finger on the trigger throughout the mix. Dancing around 90's inspired rhythms and melodies, Cherry doesn't trail too far pulsating modern sound, but somewhat hint's at classic techno nostalgia. This is proper techno, from one of the leading driving forces in quality techno in Ireland. We begin a whopping week of premieres with an equally tremendous track from one of Ireland's greatest techno producers in the countries history. We're delighted to give you the first glance at Fran Hartnett's most recent project on one of Dublin's finest techno label's within the last decade, RLSD. Only a handful of Irish techno producers have been able to create an enigma quite like Fran Hartnett. With just over a handful of releases to his name, the Dublin based techno arbiter has crafted a legacy that still percolates and influences newer generation while also galvanising Dublin techno mainstays. Releases on formative techno labels such as Audio Assault, Plector & User Experience have cemented Hartnett's name as straight up Dublin techno legend. Tracks like ‘It Was Written In Vapour' and ‘Game Code' from his Audio Assault EP remain authoritative techno tracks that rest alongside some of techno's most celebrated names on Audio Assault. One of Dublin's illustrious hardware junkies not only rests beside lionised techno figures but has released on the same 12 inch as many of them, including; Stanislav Tolkachev, Charlton, Sleeparchive, Joe Farr and now Radial also known as Jeroen Liebregts. For Fran's second appearance on RLSD he returns with a four track record comprised of FM techno righteousness. From wonky broken thrillers, to straight four to the floor functional deepness, a live excerpt that is simply analogue heaven & the record is complete with a remix from Audio Assault co-founder, Radial. Today we premiere ‘Wake', which encapsulates Fran's groove that has become synonymous with the Dublin producer. Scowling synths move assiduously through the track as the main leads warps and excogitate. The track hardware madness and is a telescopic look at what Fran has been conjuring in the studio. This record is a tip of the hat remembering the memorable & pushing the techno sound into its welcomed, evolved soundscape. As a whole this 12″ Brings a new dimension to FM techno & solidifies the next wave of Dark & driving Techno. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ PFIRTER For the past fifteen years Argentinian-born, Barcelona-based producer Pfirter has been pushing a sound by turns steely, dark and uplifting, true to the founding principles of the techno's tetramorph but eager to throw his own vanguard, personal touch into the mix. From the early days onward, and no matter the medium of expression he's used, be it DJing, producing or as a label owner, Pfirter has kept working his magic with focus and style, gracing the likes of CLR, Figure and Stroboscopic Artefacts with some choice singles whilst headlining some of the most infamous electronic music bastions and events including Berghain, Tresor, Concrete, Awakenings and Time Warp. 2006 saw the birth of his own imprint, MindTrip, and that's become one of the brightest beacons in the ever-changing landscape of techno music; serving as both a landing platform of choice for his own output but also his close friends and collaborators' including Jonas Kopp, Stanislav Tolkachev, Dold, Fanon Flowers and more. In parallel, MindTrip also flourished through its monthly podcast series, welcoming the likes of Antigone, Markus Suckut, Milton Bradley, Pär Grindvik, Jeroen Search and a host more exciting and singular artists, all invited to present an hour of music that captures the spirit and values of MindTrip. After releasing over fifty club-formatted records, time had come for Pfirter to take the leap with his debut full-length, 'The Empty Space', which provides a widescreen, panoramic view into the subtle intricacies and multi-level wealth of details of his craft, as well as the large spectrum of emotions his music merges and blends so organically. A VA of two volumes characterized by the two sides of the artist.: (Vol.I Vinyl): A collective of artists who express with their “club” side: Dark and liquid sonority from Stave-Karim Maas and Wrong Assessment, passing through the more solid and fast ones represented by The Extraverse and Magna Pia, Enigmatic arpeggios by Danilenko, and an usual intro by Stanislav Tolkachev. (Vol.II[Tape]): Founded by a non-dancefloor concept, representing the other side of the artists, the more experimental one, characterized by Ambient, I.D.M and Experimental sounds, through which we can manifest the differences and what less is shown by the artist. An unexpected side. "The paradox, the best way to reveal to men a hidden truth" Mastered by Coefficient (Pat Cooper), London Artwork Handmade by Stanislav Tolkachev.

SC: @Roundthree IG: https://www.instagram.com/Stier.x FB: https://www.facebook.com/StierMusic Email: Stiermusic@gmail.com It doesn't matter when I was born or where I live. That information is not important. Art doesn't need information. It was 2011 when I first dived into the universe of techno, getting to explore all of its subgenres, digging deeply to find the talent hidden within. I've always held that there can be no rules in music; everyone simply puts into it their own way of making and feeling it, and then their rhythm becomes what they feel it should be. In 2017 I started making my own music, a work that remains in constant progress even today, rediscovering, reintroducing, and reconfiguring the context. This project has developed different facets including a career of performer and audio producer (in constant progress) by experimenting with a great variety of musical streams. Every interpretation is done in order to create an atmosphere based on Techno and generative Art. I've worked in collaboration with Survival Alliance Records, Underdub Records, Platform 22, Codec Recordings, and many more. My main international influences have been DVS1, Jeff Mills, Jeroen Search, Sleeparchive, Stanislav Tolkachev among others. During this year, I've focused on shaping and perfecting my own sound as it evolves, remaining faithful to its characteristic sound of quest. Thanks for listening and sharing! @stefangoldmann runs the @macrorec label and is closely associated with Berlin's @berghain club. Though nominally techno, his music is distinguished by an ever-imaginative take on the form. It's definitely club music but of a rather distinctive kind produced by a creator who's exceptionally imaginative, endlessly curious, and, one presumes, never happier than when bringing a project to fruition. Several of his tracks have served as genre-shifting blueprints – from his early reductionist works for the Classic and Perlon labels to Sleepy Hollow, Lunatic Fringe or The Maze. Yet he has ventured into a line of projects hacking away at the core features of techno, with systematic forays into, for example, irregular rhythms, microtonal tunings and the recontextualisation of industrial sound design. Apart from DJing in clubs around the globe, his projects have also brought him to locations as distinctive as the Berlin Philharmonic, Los Angeles's LACMA museum and Kyoto's Honen-in Temple. His mix for @recorder-13 sees him build a highly focused arc, originating from amorphous tones by Grischa Lichtenberger and Mika Vainio, projecting through intricate structural experiments by Donato Dozzy, Stanislav Tolkachev and Aleksi Perälä and culminating in high pressure tracks by the likes of Schacke, L'estasi Dell'oro and Peter van Hoesen. The landing point is an excerpt from Stefan Goldmann's 'Live At Philharmonie Berlin' album, which was just released on Macro. Tracklist: 1. Grischa Lichtenberger - 0910_29_re_0910_08 (Semantica) 2. Irakli is a Georgian-born, Berlin based DJ & producer, who also runs his own imprint Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound and the event series and label STAUB. He has been around the block for over ten years, juggling between events, releases and sets played internationally. And he openly shares how much he believes in the importance of creating something unique and special. Irakli studied architecture and has always been attracted to art. Eventually moving to Germany - Cologne first and then Berlin, he found a supportive and stimulating environment in the German capital. Through his platform STAUB, he shaped a musical and artistic direction that is centered around the artist's sounds. In fact, both STAUB’s parties and releases are presented without mentioning the artists’ names, in order for people to listen and discover with an open mind. In our conversation, we track back his inspiration and love for music and explore some of his current projects - such as re-releasing a vocal ambient track by Chikiss alongside a remix by Stanislav Tolkachev. As he outlines how he chooses music he likes and shapes ideas into finished products, what strikes us in this conversation is Irakli’s outlook on life: he is calm, focused and propositive. We also talk about how mistakes are a useful tool to learn and progress. -- Irakli -- FB: https://www.facebook.com/iraklimusiciy SC https://soundcloud.com/irakli IG: https://www.instagram.com/i_r_a_k_l_i_ S: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0cdagg1Oe9m0vDU1jklBup Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound BC https://intergalacticresearchinstituteforsound.bandcamp.com IRIFS SC: https://soundcloud.com/intergalactic-research Chikiss. + Stanislav release: https://intergalacticresearchinstituteforsound.bandcamp.com/album/baby-bye-2020-version STAUB IG: https://www.instagram.com/techno_staub Michailo (Georgian producer who used to be in prison): https://www.facebook.com/MICHAILOSecretArea Liquid Sky Collective To Plant Over 20 Thousand Trees in Portugal: https://www.electronicbeats.net/the-feed/liquid-sky-reforestation-project-portugal -- Home Of Sound -- https://linktr.ee/home_of_sound HoS X Adam Heaton: Irakli interview + playlist: https://www.adam-heaton.co.uk/playlists/home-of-sound

Andrea Greco, artist name Burden, is an Italian born, London based DJ and producer. Over the years his sound has emerged as increasingly dark and industrial; energised with driving basslines, shadowy atmosphere, and hypnotic leads. Burden’s DJ career was born in Rome in 2011, when he had the chance to play alongside internationally renowned techno artists like Len Faki and Shifted. In 2013 Burden moved to London. His masters degree in Sound Engineering at SAE Institute, the experiences this new city offered, and his fascination with its underground scene, helped sculpt his signature, albeit versatile, sound. Burden was soon contributing to the rave scene playing parties such as Aria, Superstition, Corner, HTBX, Dazed and Confused, 000011010 Collective, Wachtraum… As well as renowned warehouses and clubs such as Fold, Bloc, Electrowerks, The Cause, 93 Feed East, and Egg. Currently, Burden is one of the resident DJs of ARIA; a collective of likeminded techno lovers that have allowed him to perform in underground venues, and alongside names like Blawan and Electric Indigo. At the beginning of 2018, together with DLTN and a group of friends, Burden started his record label ‘Aurea Records’, where he continues to release his music and collaborate with artists such as Uun, Stanislav Tolkachev, Ness, Arnaud Le Texier, Tapefeed, End Train and Flaminia. Burden’s productions are played and supported by Tommy Four Seven, Ben Klock, Cleric, Paula Temple, Ancient Methods, Killawatt and many others.

Stanislav Tolkachev has been turning out experimental techno for more than a decade but might never have been as prolific as he is now. Hot on the heels of an EP on Raw Waxes that brimmed with dark IDM invention, this month sees him serve up his fourth full length, It Will Be Too Late Then. It finds the Ukrainian serving up controlled machine made chaos, cavernous grooves and his trademark arpeggios across nine forward thinking tracks. All this and more is showcased on his podcast for us. Tolkachev’s compulsive rhythms are the foundation for what is an end of days soundtrack that takes you from the heat of a percussive battle to a charred and desolate landscape. It’s cinematic music rich in texture, blistering drums and sharp melodies that is beautiful in its brutality.

Here we are again, after the last Christmas and a well-deserved rest, we return with the fifth season. After this winter break, we thought it was the best to invite close friend to play some records and tell us the story behind them and so it was. Redwan who has been a resident in Madrid since 2011, has worked closely with several media as Geometrika FM, Abysmal, Forward, XXXO, Turntables, Electromagnetic Radio and Clubbingspain. He is currently a member of Trauma, the collective which has brought to Madrid some of the best talents of the most risky techno. You should have read about Trauma before, if not, here you have some artists who have been involved in their events: SHXCXCHCXSH, Cassegrain, Kareem, Stanislav Tolkachev, Talker, Zosima, Codex Empire, Blush Response, SSTROM, Lofthaus, Oake, Domenico Crisci, SØS Gunver Ryberg , Delusions, No Parfum or Sam KDC. As for Redwan, his influences come from Detroit (UR) to Berlin (Basic Channel, Tresor), through Birmingham, but always with the spotlight on the new mutations that techno offers. A really nice technique in the mix that in his own words, "the only premise has been to select some techno at a very low BPM, showing how it can be so mental and deep, and making body and mind dance together." There is no doubt about this. A wise move that Redwan has opened this new season. Welcome and thank so much. Ida Mandato was born in a small town in Calabria in 1989. After high school, like many guys, she moved to the capital to continue their studies: here, finally away from the closed provincial mentality, and is able to express his artistic personality to bloom. Her sound refined and emotive is what characterizes every September Ranging from ambient sounds, dub techno, dark techno up to the sounds of industrial raw and violent, what we read between the lines is the telling of a story divided between two different worlds: the green landscapes of southern Italy is passed the industrial landscape of cities like Rome and Berlin, another city very dear to the artist. Music is the medium through which it is said: The console her safe haven, a place from which to protect themselves and at the same time be known by the rest of the world. Dj appreciated in the capital and followed internationally, to date he has played alongside the likes of UVB, Bas Mooy, Deepbass, Subjected, Eomac, Stanislav Tolkachev, Ayarcana , VSK, Black Asteroid and many others, always managing to make their mark. Giuseppe Scaccia was born 1987 in Frosinone. As a teenager he immediately begins to show a great interest in electronic music. At the age of 14 he begins and follows his collection of Hardcore and Acid vinyls. In 2003, he starts his career in the studio producing with his brother as The Twins Artcore and Alarma Ravers, achieving international success and performing at major events, including the Q- Base. In 2014 he produces something different from the usual, something he had long desired for. And thus D-Leria came to life. Starting with a Roland MC 909, the result was a series of explosive “acid” tracks. By attending the unique underground club of his province ‘Affekt club‘, he meets Alex Dolby, founder and owner of the label ‘Affekt Recordings’. Here he earned the spot as a resident DJ. In addition, he was offered to remix one of his track, ‘liquid tool’. In this project he designed and built a series of episodes made in stop motion created by himself. We can find out ”Reflection”, one of his last production released on Affekt recordings, and “Confusion” released on the australian label Darknet, with remixes by Stanislav Tolkachev, Alex Bau, Pinion.

。www.soundcloud.com/stanislavtolkachev 。www.fullpanda.com

A DJ-set mixed by Argentinian Gonzalo MD (@exe-88). A sound designer based in Buenos Aires. For the next hour and fifty minutes we will hear a set mixed with “real hands, vinyls and cdjs” with tracks from: Philippe Petit, Paul Mac, Mekas, Nihad Tule, Myk Derill, Tom Diccico, Emmanuel, Glos, Stefan Vincent, The Plant Worker, Divvorce, A&S. Also tracks from his three latest vinyls, releases on Knotweed Records, Ressort Imprint and DMT. Gonzalo MD presents an energetic set, almost reminiscent to the fraze “Jackin”. Just in terms of great techno music. We hope to see more of this talented producer and dj in the near future. We hope you enjoy this weeks podcast, and don't forget to follow Monument for more techno, art, and upcoming events! Q&A: ----------------- You have released on Knotweed and DMT. Tell us about the concepts that lay behind these labels? ----------------- Knotweed was the first label that really I trusted with my productions, so I released on vinyl with them. The opportunity to release on DMT (a label which I respect so much) was thanks to Philippe Petit; Decision Making Theory was a label that grew a lot in a short time. That was because of the quality the label presents through their releases. The label is focused on a Detroit, raw, acid sound with a minimalist concept. ----------------- You refer to yourself as a sound designer. What is the difference in being a sound designer, a producer and a DJ. Give us your opinion ----------------- A sound designer isn't just composing music. A sound designer even has to adapt to an environment, plan, create and make that piece/production count in history. The most important part is that the designer has to figure out a way to make a track work according to how the idea of the track. ----------------- We are under the impression that you some how are infatuated by the city of Detroit, explain why. ----------------- I always felt chemistry with that city. The culture, the history, people, architecture, music, were a huge inspiration to achieve a sound which it is like a tribute to that great city. ----------------- What does techno music mean to you? ----------------- I learned to produce in one of worst moments of my life. I needed to find something to amuse myself and made me forget everything. With techno, I found myself with my feet planted on the ground. When I am in the moment in my studio, everything else disappears. It is only me, my machines and Techno! ----------------- Finally, what are your plans for future releases, gigs etc? ----------------- At the end of this year i'm going to do a release for Plector Records. A Belgian label with great artist as Stanislav Tolkachev, Charlton, Sleeparchive and a few more. Also, i'm going to release in a new label with various artist from Malta, Italia. I can’t give so much more information about this. My next performances will be all in Capital Federal(Buenos Aires), 21st of june and 18th of july and a few more still to confirm. https://soundcloud.com/exe-88 https://www.facebook.com/GonzaloMD?fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/MonuMnt Artwork: deadsuperhero - Atomic Dandy
