Looking for someplace to relax and chill out? You need to spend some time in the quaint little river town of Madison Indiana. The Main Street stretches for several blocks and is packed with locally owned shops and boutiques, yet it still has this laid-back, small town feel to it. And just a couple of blocks away is the gorgeous River Walk that lets you meander at your own pace all along the tranquil Ohio River, watching the barges and boats travel up and down the water way. Find lodging in the many B&B's, or stay at the newly opened Fairfield by Marriott Hotel right on the water. It's actually the town's former cotton mill that's now been lovingly restored into a magnificent hotel, keeping the vintage architecture and history while adding all the modern conveniences that we all love. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michele-hardman/support

It was a tropical morning in Madison Indiana and Nashville Tennessee when the live podcast hosted by Jimi D and The Wolf started. They shared thoughts about how hot their country is right now where Jimi can't even plant flowers outside their home. It was clear in the live podcast that Tim's voice is cracking. He then mentioned that he lost his voice due to the Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within, a four consecutive day virtual zoom call event.  A year ago, Tony Robbins together with Tim Reisterer hosted an event in Nashville and it was called Success Resources America: National Achievers Congress. Tony was scheduled to speak for two hours but according to Tim, it was almost four hours. He amazingly said that Tony was able to deliver the message genuinely and even mentioned in his speech the solutions on how to be in a beautiful state since most people right now are experiencing a lot of difficulties in terms of self understanding. Tim mentioned that Tony Robbins is a coach, motivational speaker, and philanthropist. He is also known for his infomercials, seminars, and self-help books. Tony owns 54 companies namely Tony Robbins Research with a $6 billion dollars sales. Tim also said that Tony started speaking when he's 17 years old and had been doing this work for about 43 years now. Tony Robbins spent at least $7 million for the four-day virtual event held on Zoom virtual call where he talked with the president of the zoom to make the virtual call possible. Tony made it possible because there are a total of 23,000 people that attended the zoom call. There's a lot of purpose on why Tony is doing this event even though it may not sound possible, but he made it possible. He wants to help people who are not confident enough and people who are dealing with certain problems and hardships in life. Tony helped a lot of people because of his frank, motivational, and real-life situation speeches.

The podcast started with lively greetings from  Nashville Tennessee by Tim and the beautiful Madison Indiana where Jimi lived, which is soon to be Indiana's music city. Tim questioned the hat that Jimi was wearing and he replied that the hat is for the Madison Music Movement where it's for the music people. Jimi liked wearing different kinds of hats whether it's for the Music People Hats or the Party People Hats. The purpose of it is to give options to some of the national artist or even the local artist, giving them the opportunity to come to a smaller towns where the cost of living is lower "This place is always had a natural amount of music talent coming out for such a small town we're just trying to feed on that and make it sort of a economic driver." Jimi added. Tim got interested in the topic and shared his personal life where he used to live in South Dakota (He was born in South Dakota) and South Dakota has a population of 700 thousand people where the population density is one of the lowest in the country ranked 48th. Farming is the number 1 industry in South Dakota eco culture primarily grain farming on the east river, corn, soy beans and flour crops. There's also iconic things and tourism in South Dakota such as Mt, Rushmore. Hollowing out of the smaller towns are the common problems of South Dakota and most of the western red states. It's an issue in farmers because there are less people working in the farm and some are older people who all have been in their lives and don't have any moving. "The overall trend is going in that direction and how can you reverse that? I mean it's almost impossible to reverse that." said Tim and mentioned the younger folks who're moving to a larger town rather than staying. Tim also opened up about Italy's huge demographic problem and issue where the country needs 2.1 births per adult woman to maintain the population in general. He also mentioned other countries such as Korea about being 1.1 also in Japan being bad but not quite as bad as Korea. Their topic switched to Jimi's where he mentioned that he's a sentimental type of person and is very attached to a 1961 Stratocaster back when he was 11 years old. He met this guy named Tim and said that "He was the first guy I ever saw in real life that could really really play." The story was very long but to cut it short, the guy he met passed away from pancreatic cancer and his wife sold the guitar to a local music store, luckily Jimi was able to get the guitar he wanted a long time ago.

Have you been listening to the weekly podcasts? In episode #8 I talk about inspiration. So many people ask me “how do you think of this stuff”?  Tune in to this week’s show to hear a little bit about my thought process.   Above are the projects that were discussed in episode #8, the links and details are below in the show notes:   Be PINSPIRED by following along with My Repurposed Life on Pinterest.   Gail talks about the hall tree she made that was inspired by Debbie from Refresh Restyle. You can see the $2 hollow core doors and more recent finds here.   Gail’s inspiration for marrying 2 pieces of furniture originally came from Sharon S on a message board from years ago. You can see Sharon’s work on her Facebook page, Another Man’s Treasure. You will find lots of inspiration there!   The second $2 door and a $5 dresser mirror were used to make a DIY entry way piece. Gail made the easiest hall tree ever from a door for a Habitat for Humanity event in Madison Indiana.   After seeing a desk/hall table in a magazine, inspiration struck for this project: Ammo Box coffee table Cutting up furniture is a favorite pass time, where these projects evolved from desks: Tower of Terror, desk into a tall lingerie chest.  Another desk into a chest or  lowboy piece of furniture. Early on, Gail was inspired by Ballard Designs to make a drying rack out of an old crib rail. Don’t let your budget deter you. Hear all about junking, and how an old curbed ping pong table plywood was used to make a corner headboard bench.     Thanks to today’s sponsor:   Follow DIY with MRL on Facebook and listen to any episode anytime. Madison, Indiana is one amazing porch town, located on the Ohio River smack dab between Cincinnati Ohio and Louisville Kentucky.  Dave and I interviewed Trevor Crafton, Executive Director of their Chamber of Commerce, to learn the background of this vibrant and welcoming small Midwest town. Madison IN is a very scenic riverfront town located on the Ohio river between Louisville, KY and Cincinnati, OH. It has been selected as one of the top 15 semifinalist communities in the America's Best Communities competition - the winner to be selected in 2017. The downtown  section is comprised of historic building and houses which have very charming porches and architecture.  Captivating in appearance, the historic colonial and shotgun homes are postcard worthy. The majority of Madison's downtown area has been designated the largest contiguous National Historic Landmark in the United States—133 blocks of the downtown area.  Larger than the historic districts in either Charleston SC or Savannah GA. A cultural arts and music center, its town people embrace festivals, visitors and 21st century technology.  The low cost of living, low unemployment rate, walkways and bike paths and nearby Hanover College are but a few of the reasons people enjoy living in Madison. Dave and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit there and we know you will enjoy this podcast we had with lifetime resident and Executive Director of the Chamber, Trevor Crafton. See pictures of Madison Indiana. Enjoy more of our podcasts.
