Prior to the events of the anime, three factions—the Garan Army, the Kiba Army, and the Aira Army, battle for total dominance of Machine Island. The island is basically a prison, isolated from the rest of the world. The island contains a vast amount of resources, allowing the three factions to create an infinite supply of giant robots for their respective armies. The world government learns that the island's power reactor has become unstable and will explode within 66 hours, destroying all of life and Earth itself. The government sends the Death Caprice squad, composed of mercenaries Ken Kaido and Ryo Magami to solve the issue, along with their giant robot Mazinkaiser, but was that a good idea?

Topic: Mecha Anime This week, Mom is out on Vacation, traveling the world as usual.  So we Invited my Little Brother to join us.  When asked what he wanted to learn about, Mecha Anime was what he said.  So here we go.  A primer on Mecha Anime!   Tutorial: Mecha Anime: Any anime/manga/media where robots exist within a show, and are important to the story being told. Robot = Mech/Mecha   Two Major Sub-Categories: Super/Giant Robo/Robot Real Robot   History: 70s – Rise of Super/Giant Robot Series Mecha shows easier to handle because you don’t need to draw faces.  Easier to produce in 70s.  Shows largely not about war/conflicts between humans. Mazinger Z (1972) Dr Hell and Dr. Kabuto find ancient robots buried underground. Hell decides to use the robots to control the world, while Dr. Kabuto escapes and builds Mazinger Z before being killed by “half Man, Half woman” Baron Ashura.  Robot is passed on his grandson Kouji Kabuto, who fights against Doctor Hell. The name says it all, really. With summer comes summer movies. Comic book movies. We tend to like both these things so we have a podcast for people who like comic book movies. In particular this go-around, Kick -Ass! PROMO: Anime82! Host, mad-man, genius Regan Strongblood had a dream. He would talk about anime, and then get a bunch of other podcasters to talk about anime on his same show. The results, they are substantial.
