In our new series, On Earth As It Is In Heaven, we are diving into the book of acts. This book is a recorded history of the church's birth and what Jesus continued to do after His resurrection, this time through His people. Jesus entrusted this movement to normal, everyday people—People who allowed the resurrection to lay claim on their lives. Not perfect people, not polished or platformed people, just forgiven sons and daughters who said "yes." For our second week, Lead Pastor Grant Bruscoe begins by leading us through Acts 2:1-13. Is it a verse we memorize and pray, or a guide to pour out our hearts in prayer? Matthew 6:9-15, Matthew 7:9-11, James 1:13
We continue our “Kingdom Come” series this weekend as we look to answer the question: “WHY AM I HERE?” So often, we ask ourselves questions about life and its meaning. Given the circumstances and situations we face today, we can develop legitimate feelings of confusion, doubt, and anxiety. Could this be due to viewing our lives and existence from the wrong perspective? Do we feel like there has to be more to this life because there is actually more to this life? We were made for more! This week, we will continue to explore a Heavenly Perspective, so that as Citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, we can live lives of Power and Authority through Jesus Christ. Join us as we seek to see “His Kingdom Come and Will Be Done, On Earth As It Is In Heaven”
My sermon, On Earth As It Is In Heaven, is inspired (as you probably guessed) by the Lord's Prayer and Revelation 21: 1-5a. Have you ever noticed when we pray the Lord's Prayer, we do not ask God to help us get into heaven? Instead, we ask for heaven to come down to earth so that God's will can be done today. And what is God's will? Seven hundred years before Jesus the prophet Micah described it quite well, "to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God." That is a very good job description for you and me. We will listen to a reading from Revelation 21. You may be surprised to learn the book of Revelation picks up on the theme of justice as well. The new Jerusalem mentioned in our reading will be a place where all people are welcomed, and justice will prevail. I've particularly enjoyed working on this sermon and I am looking forward to sharing it Sunday at 9, 10, and 11!

This video was created by Make His Name Known and Jerry Duckworth in order to show that the Postmillennial hope is being fulfilled through the faithful work of God's people. At the Great Commission there was approximately 500 people there. The movement that began with such a small group has covered most of the known world today. We see this as the beginning of the fulfillment of Matthew 13:33 and similar passages. For more on the Postmillennial hope read He Shall Have Dominion by Ken Gentry. You can also watch the Last Days According to Jesus by R.C. Sproul, the Purchased Victory Conference, and the ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN documentary on YouTube. I am grateful to Douglas Wilson and Canon Plus for allowing us to use the flamethrower clip as well as Eschatology Matters for allowing us to use the Audio from Tim Bushong's sermon at the beginning of the video. Thank you to Jesse Carr for the audio clip for the preaching at the end. Finally, thank you to all the servants of Christ who contributed to this video by sending us clips of them doing ministry. Also, check out Reformed Yinzer's channel. I will be making some songs with him in the future, Lord willing. Finally, I thank the Sovereign God of all the earth for gifting me with the ability and opportunity to make this song. I pray that it would be used to glorify Him and to reach His elect across the world.

In this message, Pastor Andy asks members of the congregation for their thoughts and takeaways from the "On Earth As It Is In Heaven" series.
Tis the season for countless political adds, "Vote for Me" mailers filling mailboxes, and hundreds of candidate yard signs intermingled with Halloween decorations overrunning neighborhood lawns! Yes, this is that moment when we as citizens of the United States of America get to exercise our privilege to vote for the candidates of our choice. However, as many of you know and experience, there is a divisiveness which seems to be ever growing in our country between political parties. We see it every day through broadcast TV, social media, and conversations we have with our neighbors. It even finds it's way into the church, which naturally raises a couple of questions for the Christian when it comes to politics. 1. How am I to follow Jesus, and remain united with fellow Christians who vote for the other political party? One of the things I love about our church is the political diversity we have--yet, I know that it can be dangerous as well. Even more so, how can we carry out our mission of making disciples in a community that possesses some very strong political ideologies? 2. How can we better manage the emotional aftermath of a election? This has happened more often then you would realize over the years. When one party or candidate wins, there is elation and joy for some...and for others there is literal fear, anxiety and depression. How can we follow Jesus, and better manage our emotions regarding election outcomes? Thankfully, as usual, Jesus provides us a way forward. In The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus has a whole section on worry. In fact he lists all of the big things people worry about: money, food, clothing and shelter. Then he provides the antidote for worry. Here it is: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." ~ Matthew 6:33 We all have "kingdoms" we manage. We have our family kingdom, our career kingdom, our property kingdom, the kingdom of our country or government and many more. There is nothing wrong with managing and investing in these kingdoms. In fact, that is why humans were created, to rule and reign as God's image bearers (Genesis 1:28) in this world. According to Jesus the problems of worry happen when we invest completely in our "kingdoms" and forget that above all, is the Kingdom of God. What Jesus teaches is for his followers to seek first the Kingdom of God and live the life of a Kingdom citizen. When this is done, worry dissipates, and the ability to manage our other kingdoms is provided for. For many people, maybe even you, this idea of living in God's Kingdom now, is a foreign concept. However, as you read through the Bible it permeates the teachings of Jesus and the apostles as they instruct Christians on how to live as new humans in a world where kingdoms war and worry persists. If you want to learn more about the Kingdom of God, and how pursuing it helps us overcoming division and worry, make sure and give a listen to part one of, On Earth As It Is In Heaven. Enjoy!
Pastor Thomas continues our series, "The Eighth Chapter" an exposition of Romans 8. This sermon is titled “On Earth As It Is In Heaven” and is from Romans 8:26-27. We learn in his sermon that one aspect of the Holy Spirit's ministry to us is that he helps us when we do not know what to pray given two or more choices that seem possible. This is when the Holy Spirit helps us with our words of prayer, interceding for us. Though we pray prayers with fallen lips and minds, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according the the will of God, so that our prayers are properly prayed and properly heard.
As we enter October at The Barn, we shift our attention to our prayer life as individuals and as a community. Jesus' main and clearest instruction comes to us in what is usually referred to as “The Lord's Prayer,” but the Lord isn't the one who's going to pray it. We are. Every word is laden with meaning and significance, and so we are going to take our time to savor each one. Today we will feast upon just a fraction of the significance in the phrase, “Our Father in heaven.” Matthew 6:5-15

In today's episode, I speak with Tom Ulrich. Tom Ulrich has over 40 years of professional experience in assisting faith communities and national organizations develop their social justice ministry efforts. Tom is the author of two books: Parish Social Ministry: Strategies for Action. (2001) and recently released ‘On Earth As It Is In Heaven' - Organizing Social Justice Ministry in Faith Communities: A model that works. (2021). We cover the main themes and topics of his most recent book, of course, but we also touch on his own upbringing as a Catholic and how he was introduced to Catholic Social teaching. One of my takeaways from this conversation was the way he constantly links his work on social justice back to his family and vocation. Today on The Sword and The Trowel, Tom Ascol and Graham Gunden discuss one of very essential marks of a healthy church: Church Discipline. They examine the difference between formative and corrective discipline, what the Bible says about how a Church must handle sin, how NOT to practice Church discipline and what Biblical, healthy, and fruitful Church discipline should look like. 2023 National Founders Conference: What is Man? | https://founders.org/2023conference/ Support Founders Ministries and become a part of the F.A.M - FREE SHIRT: https://press.founders.org/fam/ RECOMMENDED BOOKS: - The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith in Modern English: https://press.founders.org/shop/the-1689-baptist-confession-of-faith-in-modern-english/ - Life in the Body of Christ: https://press.founders.org/shop/life-in-the-body-of-christ/ - On Earth As It Is In Heaven: https://press.founders.org/shop/on-earth-as-it-is-in-heaven/ We Have a Book T-Shirt: https://press.founders.org/shop/we-have-a-book-t-shirt/ Apply at The Institute of Public Theology: https://www.instituteofpublictheology.org Support Founders Ministries and become a part of the F.A.M. https://press.founders.org/fam/ Founders Sermon Podcast Stream: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sermons-by-founders-ministries/id1613963681 Shop the Founders Press Store: https://press.founders.org/ Become a part of the F.A.M. https://press.founders.org/fam/ The Institute of Public Theology: https://www.instituteofpublictheology.org/ Wield The Sword: https://founders.org/wieldthesword/ Follow Founders Ministries: Website: https://founders.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FoundersMin/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FoundersMin Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/foundersministries/ All Founders Ministries resources are copyrighted and any use and distribution must be approved by Founders Ministries.

(Note: We're taking a break from the "Belonging to Him" series for the holiday season and will pick back up with Part 2 on January 17th. This week is one of the sermons John delivered many years ago at The Cove Church in Mooresville North Carolina). A detailed examination of God's “rules” for communicating with him through prayer. Most of us focus just on ourselves and our needs in prayer. But, the Lord's Prayer is truly about God, and it is only by focusing on God's greatness, his closeness, his kingdom, his will, his power to provide, to forgive, and to save, that we can truly find all our prayer's answered.
Kicking-off season four of the Dare to Believe Podcast, Kristi and Rebecca interview author, speaker, and longtime DTB friend Dawna De Silva who speaks candidly about fighting from our position in Christ. Dawna discusses her latest book, Warring with Wisdom, in which she writes about understanding our authority in Jesus and how to partner with Him when we engage in spiritual warfare.
Over and over again we see Jesus surrender His will to the Father's will. This example He sets for us in prayer should lead us to a posture of surrender in our everyday lives as well. Christ's prayer for, "Your kingdom come," should stir within us a deep knowing that this world, as it is now, is not our home. Christ will return and set up His perfect kingdom here. In the meantime, are we praying daily for God's work in this world? Join me on this journey through the Lord's Prayer as we examine in this episode what it looks like to approach God from a posture of surrender. ...not my will, but Your will, Lord.
