Storms have a way of revealing what really matters. In this week's sermon, Pastor Nathan walks through Paul's shipwreck in Acts 27, where everything the sailors trusted in is slowly stripped away until God is their only hope. While everyone else is helpless and hopeless, Paul carries a peace and confidence that changes how the people around him see both him and his God. We're reminded that how we walk through the storm matters, because there may be people in our ship who need the hope we're carrying.

Pastor Nathan brings us a powerful message titled Has Your Pain Become Your Perfume? Everyone walks through fire. Pain, disappointment, loss, and betrayal. We may not get to choose the fire we walk through, but we do get to choose who walks with us in it. In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a furnace because they refused to bow to the golden statue. But when they came out of the fire, the Bible says in verse 27, "no smell of fire had come upon them." They trusted God not only for what He could do, but for who He was. God didn't keep them from the fire, He met them in it. They went through the fire, but the fire didn't become their identity. The fire that was meant to destroy Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego became the place where God revealed His presence. What was meant to bind them became what God used to set them free. You will walk through fire, but you don't have to smell like smoke. Jesus wants His presence to become your perfume. Isaiah 43:2b "when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." "The enemy wants your pain to become your identity. Jesus wants His presence to become your perfume." -Nathan Green Join us Sundays at 9AM or 11AM! 13 Now when Jesus heard [about the beheading of John the Baptist,] he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves." 16 Jesus said to them, "They need not go away; you give them something to eat." 17 They replied, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish." 18 And he said, "Bring them here to me." 19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. 21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Pastor Nathan kicks off the week with a powerful message titled What Are You Building? In this incredible message, Pastor Nathan breaks down the purpose of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit doesn't just fill us, He commissions us. The fire of God was never meant to stay in the Church. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to build God's Kingdom by giving us a fire to spread the gospel to the world. The Holy Spirit isn't just the emotions we experience in Church. It is God's living spirit within us that guides and empowers us to use our spiritual gifts to lead others to Jesus. Jesus made His purpose clear in Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses..." The power of the Holy Spirit was never meant to make us spectators, it was given to us to make us builders of God's Kingdom. "The Holy Spirit never empowers people so they become the focus. He empowers people so Jesus becomes the focus." -Pastor Nathan Green You weren't filled to sit. You were filled to build. Join us Sundays at 9AM or 11AM! Pastor Nathan delivers a powerful message titled What Are You Really After? Many of us only pray when we need something from God, but what if prayer was never meant to be transactional? The greatest reward of prayer isn't the answered prayer but the presence of our Creator. God doesn't just want to answer your prayers, He wants to have a relationship with you. Jesus didn't pray to become more powerful, He prayed because intimacy with the Father was His priority. Prayer was always meant to keep us aligned with our Father. "Private intimacy produces public authority." - Pastor Nathan Green Fire isn't created in a Church service, it's carried there by Christians who enter the presence of God in private. Pastor Nathan concludes our At the Movies series with an empowering message titled Hold the Line. In this message, Pastor Nathan uses The Avengers as an example to reveal a powerful biblical truth of endurance for the gospel. Just as The Avengers stood together when everything was on the line, as Jesus' followers, we are called to hold the line together, encourage one another, and remain faithful to Jesus. In Matthew 24, Jesus reminds us that faith is proven by enduring to the end. Every Christian will face a moment when pressure is overwhelming, the battle feels impossible, and quitting seems easier than standing firm. The question is, will we hold the line, or will we run? No matter what you're facing, God is calling you to stay faithful. Don't loosen your grip. Don't quit before your breakthrough. Jesus is coming back soon, and until that day, we are His ambassadors. We will pray, worship, serve, give, and stand firm together as one body for Christ. "Go all in for the One who already went all in for you." -Pastor Nathan Green. 24 [Jesus] put before [the crowds] another parable: "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field,25 but while everybody was asleep an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and then went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared as well. 27 And the slaves of the householder came and said to him, 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?' 28 He answered, 'An enemy has done this.' The slaves said to him, 'Then do you want us to go and gather them?' 29 But he replied, 'No, for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them. 30 Let both of them grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Collect the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.' "    36 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples approached him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field." 37 He answered, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; 38 the field is the world, and the good seed are the children of the kingdom; the weeds are the children of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, 42 and they will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let anyone with ears listen!"

Pastor Nathan brings us an incredible message titled Have You Forgotten Who You Are? In this message, Pastor Nathan uses The Lion King as an illustration to reveal the biblical truth found in Exodus 3. In the movie, Simba forgot who he was and ran from his purpose. Everything changed when he heard his father's voice. Sometimes we allow shame and the voices of this world to make us forget who our heavenly Father says we are. The enemy's first attack isn't against your future, it's against your identity. If he can convince you that you're unworthy, unqualified, or beyond redemption, he'll keep you from walking in the calling God has for you. We are ambassadors for Christ, we must remember whose we are. As long as we remember who we are in Christ, the enemy will not overcome us. A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell on a path, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun rose, they were scorched, and since they had no root, they withered away. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 If you have ears, hear!"   18 "Hear, then, the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown on the path. 20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, 21 yet such a person has no root but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, that person immediately falls away. 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing. 23 But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."

Have Christians misunderstood what the Bible teaches about women in ministry? This message tackles one of the most debated topics in Christianity:Can women preach? Can women teach? What did Paul actually mean in 1 Timothy and 1 Corinthians? In this powerful message from the Misunderstood series, Pastor Nathan walks through Scripture—from Genesis to Junia—to examine God's design for men and women, the context behind Paul's letters, and why understanding biblical context matters.Rather than relying on church tradition or cultural opinions, this sermon asks a bigger question:What does the Bible actually say?Whether you've wrestled with this issue for years or are hearing these arguments for the first time, this message will challenge you to seek biblical truth with humility, love, and a desire to honor Christ above all else. lifepointaz.com

Sabbaticals: Why Rest Doesn't Just Benefit the Pastor (Nathan Ensz)

Pastor Nathan Ensz of Kingwood Bible Church in Salem, Oregon, returns to the podcast to talk about sabbaticals, what they are, why the Bible points toward them, and what he learned from taking one in 2024 after seven years at Kingwood. Nathan traces the idea back to the biblical pattern of Sabbath rest, the seven-year cycle of rest for the land, and the year of Jubilee, and explains why he believes ministry makes rest especially essential even though Scripture gives no direct command for pastors to take a sabbatical.Nathan is honest about his own hesitation. He knew of pastors whose sabbaticals had gone badly and worried his own might too, until his wife, Kelsey, pointed out that a sabbatical is for the whole family, not just him. Once he was away from Kingwood, he and Kelsey discovered how much of their identity had become tied to his role as pastor rather than his identity as a child of God, a realization he calls one of the most important parts of the experience. He also describes the practical side of two and a half months away: family milestones, visits to other churches, real rest at home, and watching his associate pastor Josh lead well in his absence, which reassured him that a sabbatical is a gift to the church family as much as to the pastor. The conversation closes with Nathan's encouragement for anyone approaching a sabbatical (including Matt, who is preparing for his own this September) to figure out what genuine rest looks like for them personally rather than copying someone else's plan. Nathan also previews the sabbatical workshop he will lead at USMB Gathering 2026 in Salt Lake City and reflects on how USMB has done well encouraging churches to embrace this practice.

Pastor Nathan brings us an impactful message titled Your Purpose Works Backwards. In this powerful message, Pastor Nathan breaks down the story of Desmond Doss from Hacksaw Ridge. We discover the life-changing truth from the Gospel of Jesus. As Christians, we should have hearts that never stop pursuing Jesus. Our purpose is found in pursuing Jesus and people, not in chasing success or fame. Luke 19:10 shows us how Jesus came "to seek and to save the lost" and how God often reveals our purpose through the needs and cries of those around us. "The people you are called to love won't always be the people who appreciate you." -Pastor Nathan Green In our At The Movies series, we are using movies people recognize to reveal the Word of God.
