Send us a textThe prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27 has become the cornerstone of dispensational eschatology—the theological system that predicts a seven-year tribulation, a pre-tribulation rapture, an Antichrist figure, and a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. But what if these widely-taught beliefs aren't actually found in the text? This eye-opening examination reveals how four simple verses have been transformed into an elaborate end-times narrative through interpretation rather than direct reading. We unpack each verse, demonstrating that nowhere does Daniel mention an Antichrist, a seven-year tribulation period, or a pre-tribulational rapture. These concepts have been overlaid onto the text rather than extracted from it.When Jesus referenced Daniel's prophecy in Matthew 24, He specifically stated "let the reader understand," indicating this prophecy wasn't meant to be cryptic or confusing. God's Word was written to be accessible to ordinary believers, not just scholars or academics. The Holy Spirit guides believers into truth when approaching Scripture with sincerity. We explore the six specific purposes mentioned in Daniel 9:24—finishing transgression, ending sins, making reconciliation for iniquity, bringing in everlasting righteousness, sealing vision and prophecy, and anointing the most holy. These objectives are clearly directed toward "your people" (Israel) and "your holy city" (Jerusalem), establishing the boundaries of proper interpretation. The fundamental question emerges: have these six purposes been fulfilled in Christ's first coming, or do they await future fulfillment? The answer shapes our entire understanding of biblical prophecy and end-times theology. By allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture rather than imposing external systems onto the text, we discover a more coherent and faithful understanding of what Daniel was truly prophesying.Join us as we challenge conventional wisdom, examine the biblical text closely, and recover the original meaning of this critical prophecy. Whether you're new to biblical prophecy or have studied it for years, this fresh perspective will transform how you understand not only Daniel but the entire narrative of redemptive history. The Balance of GrayGod, doubt, and proof walk into a podcast... it goes better than you'd expect!Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show
Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to "keep the law" as a Christian? This thought-provoking discussion ventures into one of Christianity's most persistent theological questions, examining the relationship between faith, grace, and the law.The conversation begins with a seemingly simple question that quickly reveals deep theological divisions among believers. As panel members share their understanding of what it means to "keep the law," we witness firsthand the confusion that can arise when fundamental concepts like covenant, salvation, and faith become muddled.A powerful clarity emerges as the discussion progresses. "We are either under the law or we are under grace," one speaker declares, cutting through theological complexity with biblical precision. The panel explores how many Christians struggle with legalism—the belief that salvation requires obedience to Old Testament laws—and how this undermines the finished work of Christ. The most profound moment arrives when a speaker firmly states: "Faith is in Jesus Christ alone. Faith is not obedience to any law of any kind. Never has been, never will be." This declaration serves as an anchor point, realigning the entire conversation with the core gospel message. For anyone who has wrestled with questions about what God expects of believers today, this episode offers refreshing clarity. You'll discover how Christ's death addresses the punishment we deserve while his resurrection provides reconciliation with God—a complete work that sets us free from condemnation.Whether you're a new believer confused about the role of Old Testament laws or a seasoned Christian seeking deeper understanding of covenant theology, this conversation will help you appreciate the beautiful simplicity of salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone. The Balance of GrayGod, doubt, and proof walk into a podcast... it goes better than you'd expect!Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show

Replacement theology is a derogatory term often used by dispensationalists to accuse those who believe in Covenant theology. Specifically, they claim that covenant theology teaches that the church replaced Israel. And while Christ does say to national Israel that the kingdom of God will be taken from them and given to another who will produce it's fruit, the way that is fulfilled is through the people established in Christ himself, the true Israel. One of the other issues with Dispensational eschatology is that it teaches that the church is a “parenthesis” in Israel's history and that every spiritual promise given by God will be fulfilled in physical Israel, which is clearly not true. So here's the question: What is right about replacement theology and what is wrong about it?In this episode, we look at the promises made to physical Israel which were fulfilled and acknowledged in Scripture. We also look at the promises that were clearly made to be fulfilled through Christ and his body, not in a “parenthesis”, and not by the church completely replacing Israel either, but by the substance, which is Christ, taking his place as the root and head of true Israel and bringing all that the Father has given him to the blessed promises of his glorious salvation and redemption.Listen to the audio version here: https://theconqueringtruth.com/2025/04/is-replacement-theology-biblical-or-a-dispensational-boogeyman-ep-216-audio/Thumbnail image by Daniel Borman on Flickr under CC-BY 2.0Timecodes00:00 Replacement Theology09:57 Shadows to Substance15:20 Divorce of Israel28:49 Not All of Israel52:39 All Israel Will Be Saved?Production of Reformation Baptist Church of Youngsville, NCPermanent Hosts - Dan Horn, Charles Churchill and Joshua HornTechnical Director - Timothy KaiserTheme Music - Gabriel Hudelson

We take a look at the Lord's response to a question he received from his disciples on the Mount of Olives concerning the end of the age ("world" in some translations). We're centered on Matthew 24 in part.We use this backdrop concerning the plan for the Kingdom (the gospel of the kingdom being for Israel and involving the earthly plan) to set us up for a look at the hope of the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, and its place in the plan of God.
Paul speaks about how we should not be asleep during this dispensation. This episode looks at what he means by this term.
We never want to take away from what God is able to do. We never want to discourage believers from seeking God's intervention in our lives. But when we visit passages for other callings, we have to be careful. We must discern those things which speak of God's abilities and God's attributes. But that is quit a different matter than claiming things for ourselves that are neither directly given to us nor are they for our calling and age.We have previously looked at passages in the the Psalms and in the Prophets, today we turn to Isaiah 61. #theology #christan #biblestudyLiving in the ParenthesisThe Age of the Silence of GodWalking According to Our Calling in the Current Age

We revisit the Democratic presidential candidates' policy positions from the 1984 campaign, compare that to McGovern's 1972 platform and modify previous statements about the Democrats and tariffs. Suffice to say it's a mixed bag. Then we move to our seemingly never-ending parade of "real" Catholics telling me that popes can be wrong and we don't really need to listen to them on matters of faith or morals, we can made those distinctions ourselves. My response: Welcome to the Reformation!Pope Francis has been great. He has been able to get the most conservative, hardcore, militant Catholics to suddenly adopt the position that Catholics are free to contradict the Pope. One odd argument, we don't have to listen to Urban VIII on salvation because "that was, like 800 years ago!" but somehow the current pope (who would presumably be the most accurate teacher of the faith using that reasoning) is the worst of the all? Hmm... #catholic #catholicism

"A booklet by Charles Hummel that explores the problem of living in a world of constant urgency and distraction. Learn how to prioritize the important tasks and avoid the tyranny of the urgent."-C.S. Lewis InstituteWe ponder the implications of the "urgent" things in our lives that rob us of peace. We examine, in brief, the booklet cited and I offer my opinion as to its conclusions and directions (the good and the questionable). We briefly comment on the activities of the new administration and remind all of us to question ANYBODY with power. No blank checks here and neither do we approve of blanket condemnations.Exposing waste and exposing corruption must be seen as a good thing if the information is proven to be accurate. We need to judge each action on its own. In the end, we're all on the same team despite the powers that be wanting us to choose sides.
Is Dispensationalism new as some people claim? Dr. James Fazio will respond to this OLD accusation that is repeated ad nauseam.Dr. Fazio is the Dean of Bible and Theology at Southern California Seminary. He also serves as Professor of Biblical Studies, specializing in hermeneutics and historical literature. He is the author and editor of several books including Forged from Reformation, Brethren and the Church, and Discovering Dispensationalism. He specialized in, and has done extensive research on, John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren. This makes him the perfect guest for this podcast episode. He has been on the Bible and Theology Matters podcast before to discuss the history of Dispensational thought. In November of 2024, Dr. Fazio and I were at the Evangelical Theological Society, which is a gathering of evangelical professors and scholars from all over the world. Well over 2,000 are in attendance each year. Various scholarly research papers are presented, after which dialogue ensues. Dr. Fazzio presented a paper that addressed the old accusation that Dispensationalism is new, novel, sometimes even called a "theological innovation" that was masterminded by John Nelson Darby. In the podcast Dr. Weaver and Dr. Fazzio discuss Dr. Fazzio's paper that addresses this issue.

THE GREAT DISPENSATIONAL CHANGE (EPHESIANS 2:11-22) Now, that is a great big word, dispensational. So, what does it mean? For purposes of studying the Bible, a dispensation is a period of time, and it defines how God deals with man during this time period, and how man interacts with God. It has nothing to do with salvation, for salvation, throughout the Bible, has always been by God's grace alone. When you think about it, those of us who were born and grew up in this age of Grace, take for granted the direct relationship we have with God, and the blessings of the Holy Spirit empowered life that we lead. In today's lesson, Paul is going to take us back in history and describe the relationship the Gentiles had with God prior to this great dispensational change. And then he will describe the changes brought about by Calvary and Pentecost. Click on the play button to hear a message on how the church is the body of Christ, and in this body, all believers are equal members. There are no divisions based on denominations, racial origins, religious backgrounds, class distinctions, national boundaries, or color prejudices in the true church. All believers are equal members of this marvelous, mystical body. A new bond has been established. The gospel reduces all people to the same level. All people are brought into the great equation of salvation through the same common denominator: repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a live recording of The Master's Class Bible Study at LifeChange Church Wichita, KS. Amen.

The rise and fall of dispensationalism is a fascinating story, and a relatively short one in the history of Christianity. From the mid-19thcentury it was a response to the dominant postmillennialism of the time, and an outgrowth of the gnostic dualism of Pietism. It is a powerful story of just how much eschatology really matters.Watch all of our videos and subscribe to our channel for the latest content >HereHere

As we look at different views on the end times, it's important to understand how beliefs shape the way many Christians approach prophecy and Scripture. Dr. John Neufeld examines Dispensational Premillennialism, a view that has influenced many believers. He explains core ideas like the pre-tribulation rapture, which suggests Christians will be taken to heaven before a period of suffering on Earth. Dr. John also addresses how this perspective distinguishes between Israel and the Church and its impact on interpreting the Bible's teachings on the future. The Lord's Return: The return of Jesus Christ is the blessed hope of all believers. This shared hope is also a shared question. When will Jesus return? What will happen at His second coming? What part will believers play at His return? Questions that have been asked for centuries. In this one-week series, Dr. John Neufeld unpacks our questions about the second coming. He will explain the various viewpoints held by Christians about Jesus' return and offers clear Bible teaching which unites us all.
