Episode 7 features a survivor's story of the Pulse Nightclub Tragedy. Take a listen now! *Trigger Warning: This episode mentions acts of gun violence, homophobia, PTSD and hate crimes. Listener discretion is advised* Jocelyn shares her story of the harrowing night she experienced as a survivor of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting that happened during Pride Month in June 2016. I couldn't believe she was actually there the night it happened and I knew I had to share her story with y'all. Pulse Nightclub was hosting a "Latin Night", and most of the victims were Latino. It is said to be the deadliest incident in the history of violence against LGBTQ+ people in the United States, as well as the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. since the September 11 attacks in 2001. It was also the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history, until the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. (source: Wikipedia) Listen in as Jocelyn takes us through her first-hand experience of a life-changing night. She is an incredible human being and I am so honored to know her. This week both of our stories have our survivors pronounced dead! Our first story is about the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting. This is where Keinon Carter went to have a fun night with his friend. When 2am comes around, a gunman shows up and opens fire. The next story is about Mary Neal. An avid kayaker who goes to Chile to kayak for vacation. When she is forced to go down a waterfall she gets lodged underwater upside down. Listen to how they survived now! Drink this week: Tom Collins
Ep. 12 features Assistant Chief David Green with the San Bernardino Police Department. We talk about the challenges of policing in California due to the impact of state initiatives involving decriminalization, zero bail amounts, moving the prison population into county jails and more, mandates that are having a major impact on law enforcement and the community, as similar initiatives are having in other markets around the country. Chief Green also discusses the horror of the 2015 terrorist attack, a mass shooting and attempted bombing perpetrated by heavily-armed husband and wife extremists that left 14 dead and dozens injured. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. since the 9/11 attacks only to be surpassed by the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting the following year. We close by discussing why he became a police officer and what the rewards have been.
Joining Mission today is John Grauwiler, teacher and founder of activism group Gays Against Guns. Before forming GAG, Grauwiler was an English teacher in New York City who was rocked by the news of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting, prompting him to form a coalition that is “committed to nonviolently breaking the gun industry’s chain of death.” Also a member of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, or ACT UP, Grauwiler is a tried and true activist and community leader who continues to stand up for what he believes. Following his feature in Mission’s fourth issue, Grauwiler sits down with Mission to talk about the effect gun violence has had on his life, what motivates him in his day to day, and educating the public on the need for gun regulation. Dear Listeners and Readers: Get striking details from the Department of Justice, DOJ, Office of Inspector General's newly published report. It has CONFIRMED PHILIP HANEY's gravest concerns regarding the Department of Homeland Security under Barack Hussein Obama. Obama's DHS DELETED Philip's files on Islamic terrorists and their networks operating inside the United States - files meticulously placed in the database to facilitate the arrest of individuals who posed or pose a threat to American lives. Examples include intelligence information on Islamists surrounding the Fort Hood attack, the Boston Marathon attack, the Orlando Pulse Nightclub attack, the San Bernardino attack, etc., etc. See: https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2020/a20030.pdf#page=2 Note: Before Philip was found dead, he was poised to name, names in his new book, a sequel to "See Something, Say Nothing." Will FBI's interests be best served by covering-up the details around the death of PHILIP HANEY? One wonders just how corrupt the national security establishment really is.... It was a travesty of justice! Noor Salman, the widow of Omar Mateen, the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooter, was just acquitted of all charges in a trial that will have repercussions for years to come! Noor was charged with aiding and abetting the provision of material support to a foreign terrorism organization, in this case, ISIS, and obstruction of justice. If found guilty, she would have faced a sentence of up to life in prison. The jury foreman admitted that the jury believed Noor knew what Omar was up to when he killed 49 people and injured 53, in the worst terror attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. So, what went wrong? Dr. Carole explains how glaring errors by the FBI and prosecutors allowed her to go free! Hear how this miscarriage of justice will green light future terrorists and their women — providing them with the secrets they need to know to avoid prosecution after the attack.

To borrow from the Book of Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3: “There is a time to be born and a time to die. ~ There is a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Terrorism does not respect innocent lives. Unfortunately, what happened at the Orlando Pulse Nightclub has become an epidemic. I have asked my favorite psychotherapist, Dr. David Baker Hargrove, to share how we can heal after tragedy.
