Tune your ears to another extra-special episode of Fire and Water Records! In part 2 of a super-smash crossover event with Pop Culture Affidavit, the brothers Ryan and Neil Daly welcome guest host Tom Panarese to continue their already-three-hours-long discussion on favorite cover songs for another equally-long-conversation (seriously, what the hell is wrong with these guys?!!). What makes a great cover song? What's the point of covering somebody else's music? Do women sing Tom Waits songs better than he does? Do punk bands play Bob Dylan songs better than he does? Why does Panarese hate his sister? What genre does Neil like more than rock 'n roll? What song makes Ryan think about dying, but like, y'know, in a good way, maybe? All these questions, and many more than you want to know, will be answered on this episode of Fire and Water Records! Track list "Hey Jude" (The Beatles) covered by Wilson Pickett "La Bamba" (Traditional/Ritchie Valens) covered by Los Lobos "Desolation Row" (Bob Dylan) covered by My Chemical Romance "Got to Get a Message to You" (The Bee Gees) covered by Swamp Dogg "It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City" (Bruce Springsteen) covered by David Bowie "Higher Ground" (Stevie Wonder) covered by Red Hot Chili Peppers "Both Sides Now" (Joni Mitchell) covered by Neil Daly "Get Down, Make Love" (Queen) covered by Nine Inch Nails "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac) covered by Smashing Pumpkins "Drive" (The Cars) covered by Britta Phillips "Ol' 55" (Tom Waits) covered by Sarah McLachlan "Love is All Around" (Sonny Curtis/"The Mary Tyler Moore Show") covered by Joan Jett "Stand By Me" (Ben E. “Exercise improves strength and balance, and decreases fall risk. Medications are often prescribed to improve bone mineral density but don't affect fall risk. If you're using BFR [blood flow restriction] to help strengthen, this will help improve balance as well, which is huge in preventing falls.” -Gina Panarese, PT, DPT, OCS Gina Panarese, PT, DPT, OCS is a physical therapist, with a specialty in bone health and osteoporosis. In this week's ball-jamming episode, Magnus begins something. Something new. Something exciting. Something musical! Yes indeed, beginning this week is Musical Magnus, an irregular feature of Trentus Magnus Punches Reality that will appear on the show whenever your wise leader feels like making one. To inaugurate the beginning of the launch of the Musical Magnus start-up premiere, Tom Panarese from the Pop Culture Affidavit and In-Country podcasts was persuaded (by a crowbar, a blow torch and a set of jumper cables) into joining in! And what is this adventure's album, you ask? Why, it's none other than R.E.M.'s 1991 effort 'Out of Time'. Yes, R.E.M.'s major label breakthrough into mainstream commercial success! Did Magnus and Panarese love and cherish this album? Or did they loathe and mock it? A better question to ask would be why they'd spend nearly three hours talking about an album if they despised it. Points are raised, songs are analyzed, music is critiqued, tangents are followed to their meandering conclusion and you could fairly say a rad time is had by all! Due to the deluge of ass-kickery, unfortunately there's just no time for listener feedback this week. But don't whine and complain about it because some feedback was addressed just last week and there's more to come in the future! Patience! The vast backlog of feedback will be addressed in due time. Fear not! In the meantime, though, don't let the lack of feedback this time get you down! You can still offer your feeble effort at tribute! You humble serfs are always welcome to kiss your benevolent leader's ring. Corrupt DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept your bribe to present your meager missives to your wise emperor. The email address to use is trentusmagnus@gmail.com as the other seems to be having technical problems. In an another sublime act of truly unprecedented charity, your emperor permits you lowly rabble to suggest topics for a future episode. Thus, petitions may be sent to trentusmagnus@gmail.com for DiManzocorp interns to review, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise!

In this week's ball-extinguishing episode, the nearly-year uninterrupted miniseries dedicated to one specific theme, topic, character, idea, nose-berry or storyline continues! On top of that, Extinction Level Event continues! The stakes haven't been this high since the last time the stakes were this high! This time the fate of the whole planet is at stake as these valiant figures of heroic legend struggle like hell not only to reignite the sun but also to keep some measure of order going on Earth. BUT!! WILL WILL THEY SUCCEED??! The discussion this week finds Magnus and Tom Panarese from the Pop Culture Affidavit blog and podcast study DC's Final Night miniseries with a nigh-forensic detail of study. Panarese never said so out loud but it's apparent that he's going to forsake his life as an assassin for the goverment to pursue a career as a literature critic for the New York Times following the closing credits of this show. Yes indeed, art is painstakingly analyzed, character dynamics are carefully reviewed and discussed and a wonderful time is had by all. Is that enough hype for you? If not, and for those among you determined to destroy true creativity online by constantly giving in to click-bait marketing tactics, "Panarese explains why the Final Night is *EXACTLY* like a string of dismal 1990's disaster films AND IS MORE AWESOMEREST FOR IT!!!!" Because of the epic splendor wrought by your emperor and his loyal podcasting vassal, there's just no time for feedback this week. But that's okay because the earlier chapters in Extinction Level Event haven't had any either. Even so, that shouldn't discourage you! The rest of you humble serfs are always welcome to pay your feeble attempts at homage to your leader.
