In light of the recent legal troubles surrounding Sean "Diddy" Combs, a growing number of celebrities are actively distancing themselves from him and his infamous parties. The fallout stems from a series of disturbing allegations, including sex trafficking and violent misconduct at Diddy's so-called "Freak Off" parties, where many high-profile individuals were once regular attendees.Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Megan Fox have been notably swift in creating distance, with DiCaprio's camp emphasizing that he hasn't been involved with Diddy for years, despite old photos resurfacing from parties they both attended. Megan Fox, meanwhile, deleted posts featuring Diddy across her social media platforms. Others, like Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber, who were previously seen at Diddy's high-profile gatherings, have remained silent but have quietly distanced themselves as well. Some stars, such as Damon Dash, have gone on record to clarify that they only attended one or two events many years ago, often framing their association as minimal.PR experts suggest that this silence is part of a calculated strategy, as discussing Diddy's legal issues publicly could lead to unwanted scrutiny. Celebrities are now avoiding the topic entirely, trying to remove themselves from the narrative to protect their personal and professional reputations as Diddy's legal battles continue to unfold.Meanwhile, the public outcry demanding answers from these people continues to grow.   (commercial at 9:58)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:TOM LEONARD: Which A-Listers will be dragged into P Diddy's drugs and orgies scandal next? This posting was written and recorded while on a trip to northern India. It explores the inter-relations of culture and climate. The audio version is fun because of the soundscapes of Delhi in the background (car horns, bird song, sweeping of leaves, music, etc)It features excerpts from my comments to the Create Canada project which is important given its potential to deepen conversations about the role of culture as Canada faces existential threats from the regime of our southern neighbour.I did not agree with all their postings but I saw merit in their efforts. In parallel, I produced e214 roundtable – this moment in canadian culture, which Owais and SGS kindly joined.I hope Create Canada and this conscient roundtable are a couple of many such conversations and reflections from coast to coast to coast, in as many different languages and formats as possible. You'll hear me read excerpts frome194 owais lightwala and sgs - manifesting for nowe214 roundtable – this moment in canadian culture: e209 robert and peter janes – telling the truth through artMy conclusion is that this moment in culture in Canada and the climate emergency are one and the same. Both culture and climate are agents of change who need each other. It's only a question of time before they synergize to help us find Annette Hegel's ‘new ways'. *END NOTES FOR ALL EPISODESHey conscient listeners, I've been producing the conscient podcast as a learning and unlearning journey since May 2020 on un-ceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa). From "Bloody Sunday" to Modern Activism: Civil Rights Leaders Reflect on LegacyThis show is made possible thanks our members! To become a sustaining member go to https://LauraFlanders.org/donate   Thank you for your continued support!Description: 60 years ago in Selma, Alabama, state troopers beat peaceful protesters bloody on the Edmund Pettus Bridge as they marched for civil rights. The horror of “Bloody Sunday” and the resilience of the Civil Rights Movement ultimately led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and many of the landmark achievements that are now directly under attack. As civil rights activists look to history to understand — and prepare for — the present, Laura walks the Bridge and talks with, among others, Sheyann Webb Christburg, who marched at the age of eight, Black Voters Matter co-founders LaTosha Brown and Clifford Albright; law professor and author Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw and Maya Wiley, President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. What does people power look like today? Plus, a commentary from Laura on name calling then and now.“We're not going to phone bank our way out of this. We're not going to text our way out of this. And in truth, we're not even going to vote our way out of this . . . It's going to take revisiting some of the same strategies that we saw here in Selma, in terms of nonviolent civil disobedience and direct action.” - Clifford Albright“When we see and hear and think about fascism, we think about anti-democratic movements in Europe. We think about the Holocaust . . . But for Black people, as Langston Hughes said, you don't have to explain to us what fascism is. We experienced it. That is what we were fighting, for the 60, 70 years after Reconstruction was overthrown.” - Kimberlé CrenshawGuests:• Clifford Albright: Co-Founder & Executive Director, Black Voters Matter• Willard and Kiba Armstead: Veteran & Spouse• Trayvon Bossa: Sigma Chapter Member, Miles College Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity• LaTosha Brown: Co-Founder, Black Voters Matter• Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw: Co-Founder & Executive Director, African American Policy Forum; Host of the Intersectionality Matters!

An antidotal response to the rapid consumption of information and images on social media sites, these prolonged photographs, or ‘long photos', often capture incidental moments that pass through the frame, such as an off screen rock thrown into a lake, snowflakes rising and falling in a vortex, or a swimmer held in frame by a river's current. Notar - Notice - Kizuku invites the audience to share some of these moments

Keys For Kids Ministries

Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:17-24Preston jumped from seat to seat in the back of the school bus. He joined in with the boys who were pestering other kids and laughed loudly when rude gestures were made at passing cars. After he and the others ignored several warnings, the bus driver pulled over and wrote down their names. Preston felt ashamed--and he felt even worse when he found out his parents would be contacted. "I heard from your principal today," Mom said when Preston got home. "We'll have to talk about it later. Right now go get your homework done."Preston was relieved when his behavior wasn't mentioned at dinner. When they finished eating, Dad turned on the news. The screen showed a man who'd been found wandering the streets. He couldn't remember anything about his past--not even his own name. "Authorities believe this man has amnesia," said the reporter. "Anyone with information that may help identify him should notify the police.""He doesn't know his name?" Preston asked. "That's hard to believe!""They think he may have received a very hard blow to his head, or that something shocking happened and the man's brain reacted by blocking everything out," explained Mom."Oh, that's so sad!" said Preston's little sister, Mia."Can a person really forget who he is?" asked Preston."We wondered the same thing after Mom got a call from your principal today," said Dad. "It sounded like you might have been suffering from spiritual amnesia on the bus. You seemed to have forgotten who you were.""Preston has amnesia?" asked Mia, looking at her brother wide-eyed."Well, he seemed to forget that he is a child of God," said Dad. "Preston--just like all Christians--has the Holy Spirit inside him. Because of God's presence in us, we're able to do what is right and show others the love of Jesus. If we forget that and start acting out of selfishness instead of love, it's kind of like we have spiritual amnesia--we've forgotten who we are in Jesus." Dad turned to Preston. "Could anyone on the bus this morning have identified you as belonging to Jesus?""I--I guess not," said Preston. "I'm sorry."His parents smiled at him. "We forgive you," said Dad. "And Jesus will forgive you too." –Nance E. KeyesHow About You?Do you remember who you are? If you've trusted Jesus as your Savior, you're a child of God, and He has put His love in your heart and given you His Spirit to guide you in doing what's right. Don't act like you suffer from spiritual amnesia. Remember who you are in Jesus and show His love in all you do so others can identify you as someone who belongs to Him.Today's Key Verse:Put on your new nature, created to be like God--truly righteous and holy. Today, I'm thrilled to be joined by the award-winning writer and journalist, Omar El Akkad.Omar is a journalist and novelist whose work masterfully blurs the lines between fiction and reality, forcing us to confront the most urgent issues of our time. His debut novel, American War, was a haunting and unflinching look at climate change, war, and displacement. His second novel, What Strange Paradise, won the Giller Prize and offered a deeply human perspective on the refugee crisis. And now, with his latest book, One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This, he turns his attention to the genocide in Gaza, power, identity, and the way history remembers—or erases—those who resist. In this conversation, we talk about the stories behind his stories—the historical and political forces that shape his work, the deeply personal nature of writing about conflict and displacement at the time it's happening, and how writing can help us make sense of an increasingly fractured world. We also explore themes of belonging, compassion, and what it means to be on the margins of history.Support the show

Today's poem will leave you “knowing very well what it was all about.” Happy reading.Gary Soto was born in Fresno, California on April 12, 1952, to working-class Mexican American parents. As a teenager and college student, he worked in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, chopping beets and cotton and picking grapes. He was not academically motivated as a child, but he became interested in poetry during his high school years. He attended Fresno City College and California State University–Fresno, and he earned an MFA from the University of California–Irvine in 1976.His first collection of poems, The Elements of San Joaquin (University of Pittsburgh Press), won the United States Award of the International Poetry Forum in 1976 and was published in 1977. Since then, Soto has published numerous books of poetry, including You Kiss by th' Book: New Poems from Shakespeare's Line (Chronicle Books, 2016), A Simple Plan (Chronicle Books, 2007), and New and Selected Poems (Chronicle Books, 1995), which was a finalist for the National Book Award.Soto cites his major literary influences as Edward Field, Pablo Neruda, W. S. Merwin, Gabriel García Márquez, Christopher Durang, and E. V. Lucas. Of his work, the writer Joyce Carol Oates has said, “Gary Soto's poems are fast, funny, heartening, and achingly believable, like Polaroid love letters, or snatches of music heard out of a passing car; patches of beauty like patches of sunlight; the very pulse of a life.”Soto has also written three novels, including Amnesia in a Republican County (University of New Mexico Press, 2003); a memoir, Living Up the Street (Strawberry Hill Press, 1985); and numerous young adult and children's books. For the Los Angeles Opera, he wrote the libretto to Nerdlandia, an opera.Soto has received the Andrew Carnegie Medal and fellowships from the California Arts Council, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
