Glucose intolerance led to pre-diabetic blood sugar levels for me and my husband. Quitting sugar brought those levels down to normal for both of us. According to the National institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseses, An estimated 88 million adults ages 18 years or older (34.5 percent of U.S. adults) have prediabetes. https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-statistics/diabetes-statistics One of the most important books I have ever read on how sugar leads to serious health consequences is: “Sugar Crush” by Dr. Richard P. Jacoby and Raquel Baldelomar. https://amzn.to/3kx0PRM This podcast details the steps we took to get our blood sugar into the normal range. Richard P. Jacoby, DPM has treated thousands of patients with peripheral neuropathy. Now, he shares his insights as well as the story of how he connected the dots to determine how sugar is the common denominator of many chronic diseases. In Sugar Crush, he offers a unique holistic approach to understanding the exacting toll sugar and carbs take on the body. Based on his clinical work, he breaks down his highly effective methods, showing how dietary changes reducing sugar and wheat, coinciding with an increase of good fats, can dramatically help regenerate nerves and rehabilitate their normal function. He is a pioneer in regenerative medicine, has won the Phoenix Magazine Top Docs Award four separate times over the last 10 years and is the co-author of the book Sugar Crush: How to Reduce Inflammation, Reverse Nerve Damage, and Reclaim Good Health. Now with the Covid-19 outbreak and shutdown of America his message is more important than ever.Dr. Jacoby is one of the country’s leading peripheral nerve surgeons, specializing in progressive damage to the nerves that often results from diabetes. Jacoby’s Research For The Surgeon General of Taiwan The Surgeon General asked Dr. Jacoby of Taiwan to figure out why people there had diabetes. After doing research, Dr. Jacoby told the Surgeon General that it was their diet. Luckily, Dr. Jacoby was able to educate them on insulin resistance, diabetes, and the cause of their health problems. [04:00] Sugar Is Not Only A Drug, But It’s Also A Toxic Poison Too Sugar is a poison. Table sugar is really glucose, which is not sweet, mixed with fructose, which is sweet. Well, that’s a disaccharide which is a poison. Most people love this poison because the hippocampus in your brain is the addiction center. The brain will turn off enzymes that cause satiation. Sugar is probably 20 times worse than cocaine. Ancel Keys told us that cholesterol was causing heart disease; however, that’s a total lie. Every process in the body is nerve-muscle function. Through Dr. Jacoby Global Compression Theory, he links carbohydrates to conditions like plantar fasciitis, Alzheimer's disease, MS, ALS, and Autism. If you're carrying the genes and eating sugar, you're going to get that particular disease. [20:15] Avoiding The Hidden Dangers Of High-Fructose Corn Syrup 80% of all the food in the United States has high-fructose corn syrup in it. High-fructose corn syrup is made by putting the corn in sodium hydroxide. For many years, they were using mercury to separate the starch from the husk. Plus, it’s grown with glyphosate, which is the main ingredient in Roundup. This is one of the reasons that Autism is so high. [24:30] How Does The Immune System Fight Covid-19? The vaccine does not prevent you from getting the vaccine. It will change your response to the virus. Why do some people die from a virus and other people don’t? If your immune system is down, it won’t be able to kill the virus. While on the other hand, if you have a healthy immune system, it will kill anything. The higher our inflammatory levels, the lower our vitamin D levels will be. Take vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc, melatonin, and don't eat sugar. That way, you have a 99.9% chance of not dying from this virus. [33:00] Our Food Supply In The United States Is Making The Virus Worse Jacoby isn’t telling people don't eat sugar. He’s saying if you do eat sugar, then you're going to die. Sugar tastes great – it’s a drug! We all eat it. However, we should know better in 2021. Sadly, our tax dollars are broadcasting lies. Plus, we are wearing masks and being told to stay inside. Money and control are at the root of our problems. There is a direct link between sugar in our diet and nerve damage, which results in a wide range of chronic, debilitating diseases that are seemingly unrelated. [41:30] Your Body Is Built To Heal Itself + How You Can Help Stop eating sugar, get vitamin D, vitamin C, melatonin, get sun, and you’re going to be fine. That’s what it takes for your body to handle the virus. Jacoby says that if you are selling the keto diet, then you should be able to open your restaurants. If your restaurant is selling sugar, then you need to stay closed. People should be outraged! We can empower others and change the entire outcome of our country. [49:15] How To Kick Your Sugar Addiction + Help Your Health Jacoby puts butter in his coffee, and it changed everything. Italians put butter in their coffee. Human beings eat fat – that’s their natural diet. Sugar is not in our natural diet. You can also put sea salt in your coffee to replenish electrolytes. If you just eat fat, then you will live forever. Theoretically, all you need is fat because you will make your own sugar. [52:50] Artificial Sweeteners Could Be The Poison Ruining Your Health Artificial sugar is still a sugar molecule with a toxin. Monkfruit and stevia are okay. Once you get on keto, you won’t want to eat that sweet taste. Anything that ends in “ose” is bad. Words with “ol” like alcohol is sugar alcohol. AND MUCH MORE! This is episode #51, Welcome to the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning podcast, my name is Andrea Samadi, I’m a former educator whose been fascinated with understanding the science behind high performance strategies in schools, sports and the workplace for the past 20 years. Each week we bring you an expert who has risen to the top of their industry with specific strategies that you can implement immediately, whether you are a teacher or student in the classroom, or working in the corporate world, to take your results to the next level. If you are like me, and love to learn, grow, challenge yourself and always are looking for that competitive edge, listen closely to the tips our next guest has to say, and write down the ones that you want to implement immediately. Watch the interview on YouTube here. Our guest today has been training my husband and I since we were dating back in 2006, and I can honestly say that I would never hire another trainer after working with him. He not only challenges our fitness and nutrition goals, but also wants to know what’s going on with our businesses and family life. Let me tell you more about this incredible entrepreneur.Kelly Schmidt[i], is one of the leading personal training and fitness experts in Arizona, who has over 20 years of personal training and health development experience all over the world with his online and in person training programs. When Kelly graduated from high school, he was 115 pounds (which is hard to imagine knowing him today) but he says he felt that he was the little guy, which fueled his transformation that took him to 3rd place in his first professional body building show just 5 years ago (in 2015). He now coaches busy professionals all over the world in person at his gym in Glendale, AZ and with his online training programs to help people fit health and fitness into their lifestyle for long term, sustainable results.[ii] Welcome Kelly! Kelly, the minute I got the notification that all gyms were closing, I thought of you to help people at all different stages of health, with these strange times where we are quarantined inside our homes. You came to my mind immediately because you’ve been working all year with me on workouts, I can do at home so that I spend less time in the gym. I’ve been seeing posts from people all over the place asking questions about the best way to begin an exercise program. I do want to add the disclaimer, that for anyone at the beginning of their health and fitness journey, please do begin with consulting with your healthcare provider before trying anything new.Kelly, thanks, so much for being here today, and sharing your ideas and tips with us to help those who might be at the start of their fitness journey, to those looking for more challenge with a home workout because with you, that’s exactly what you’ll get. The first question I have for you is on nutrition, which is such a wide topic. We all have different health goals (some people want to lose weight, others gain weight, add more muscle) what would you suggest are some best practices for ALL of us with our nutrition these days? I know that you taught us meal-prepping, and what we should be eating/not eating. Has anything you are doing changed? Is there any staple food that you used to buy that you can’t get these days? How has your nutrition stayed the same and how has it changed?I had a doctor years ago get me off sugar when he was researching the impact of sugar on our health and he wrote this book called Sugar Crush: How to Reduce Inflammation, Reverse Nerve Damage, and Reclaim Good Health.[iii] I had some health issues that went away 100% and ever since then, I’ve been wary of even fruits because he had me stop eating anything with sugar, and specifically high glycemic fruits. Do you stay away from any fruits and what do you put in your shakes? What impact do you see sugar having on you? What are macros? How can people figure out what’s the best combination for them or is even talking about macros over kill? I don’t want to stress people out, so how important do you think it is that people have an idea of the numbers that work best for them with the ratio of fats/proteins/carbs that they should be consuming? What about Celery Juicing. You started us on this practice a few years ago, since we are on our 2nd celery juicing machine.[iv] Then I started to follow this expert Anthony William who is @medicalmedium on Instagram and he’s been helping millions of people around the world for years with his book Celery Juice: The Powerful Medicine of our Time Healing Millions Worldwide.[v] What benefits have you noticed with this?I’ve been learning from Dr. Daniel Amen on the best nutraceuticals to take to help improve my health and what sticks out to me is that he mentions that most people are deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids, so I force myself to take fish oil daily. What supplements do you take daily? Have you added more vitamin c lately?I know what cardio exercise you do daily because we share our activity through the activity app on our watches. I know that people can do this on their Fit Bit as well. Can you share what your daily workouts look like with what you do for cardio, and strength training and what would be 10 exercises that people could do at home that are just as impactful as using machines at the gym?Besides exercise, what are you doing for your mental health? How are you balancing your business and fitness goals? What does your daily schedule look like? Thanks so much Kelly for sharing your thoughts with us. I’m so grateful to have you as a friend, and for all you have done to help support our family, and for the business ideas you’ve shared. It was Kelly who suggested I record my podcasts on video and put them up on YouTube! Great idea, I really appreciate you. If it tastes good, don't eat it. Unless you read the label, I guarantee it has sugar in it. So that is all you have to do, you don't have to count calories, you can eat all the calories you want. Eat steak, eat as much steak as you want, because you're going to be satiated and satisfied so quickly. You're really not gonna be hungry anyway. So it's a misnomer, eat a lot of sugar, you will be hungry and never satisfied. That's number one. It's all about stem cells now, and my new book will be a lot about stem cells. Stem cells do not give a rat's ass what you call your itis because they don't speak English. Did you know that stem cells don't speak English, French, German, or any other language other than the immune system language? That's my message. Unlike drugs, if you do stem cells, it'll get rid of any disease if it's inflammatory. That's my message, living a natural lifestyle, using natural products, which stem cells are, and whether it's allergenic or your own, life will be good. So have a nice steak and some green vegetables and you'll live forever, Influencers Mentioned:Dr. Dellon of www.Dellon.com Dr John Cook: https://biox.stanford.edu/people/john-cooke Dr Kurtzberg of Duke & the...
