Noel catches up with Royston Langdon. The lead singer of Spacehog is set to release, President Alien. It is a reimagined version of the band's debut album, Resident Alien. The album featured the hit song, "In The Meantime." The song is in the spotlight again thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Royston discusses the band's followups to Resident Alien, his solo work as Leeds, David Bowie and formally issues a public apology to Sean Lennon. Find out why.

This time, they're talking about Royston's new album, President Alien, which will be released on July 14.As one might gather from the title, President Alien is a unique return to Spacehog's 1995 debut album, Resident Alien. Nearly 30 years later, Langdon revisits each song from the original album in an acoustic format. Cameron recently talked to former-Spacehog frontman Royston Langdon about his solo project Leeds, touring with the Psychedelic Furs, performing acoustically, the status of Spacehog, and more.

The 90s were good to Royston Langdon. His band hit it big in 1996 with their #1 smash "In The Meantime" off their debut album Resident Alien. He also married actress Liv Tyler. But after two more Spacehog albums, the band came apart and was never the same. Over the years there have been a couple reunions, but today Royston is focusing on his solo career and released his first solo album Everything's Dandy under the moniker LEEDS (the album we be re-released under his own name soon). And, congratulations are in order as he was recently selected as the opening act for the Psychedelic Furs on their upcoming US tour! Here we talk about what rock stardom really means, the influence of Bowie on Spacehog's music, and how he almost replaced Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver. This week on the podcast, Dani welcomes former Spacehog frontman Royston Langdon and comedienne/model/aspiring ukulele expert Niamh Adkins to the Dark Horse studio. Royston shares which British glam rock icons inspired him the most, what it's been like to live in his adoptive home longer than he did in his hometown, and a few tracks off of his new album "Everything's Dandy". Plus, Niamh went to a Taylor Swift concert her first week living in the city, and Taylor sang "Welcome To New York" just for her (or so she thought).

“Music doesn’t happen when you try really hard,” Royston Langdon explains, toward the tail end of our conversation. “Keith Richards didn’t write the riff for ‘Satisfaction’ while he was concentrating.” Everything’s Dandy, his debut record under the moniker Leeds, finds the former Spacehog frontman in a more reflective space. He’s mellowed, it seems, since those heady days of mid-90s New York City. He got married, had a kid, the band broke up a couple of times in the interim. And while songwriting has been a kind of constant in his life since the age of 12, Langdon explains that art isn’t something you can force. It’s a kind of quiet acceptance of all that life has thrown at him — for better and worse — that has informed both his music and general state of mind.
