Welcome back to At The Flicks In yesterday's show (episode 231) we set out the rules for our new review show (a bit like Fight Club, with the main difference being we encourage you to talk about it). If you followed that layout, then you know that this episode features our three remaining reviews. They are: Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 – yes a Marvel film, and we all know Jeff's view on them. Surprisingly, one of the converted (or infected) also turns on Marvel this episode. His excuse? He went to see it with Jeff. Clearly that de-programming works! Spider-Man Across The Spider Verse – If you thought Jeff's extreme superhero views were at high volume in the last review, they are off the charts for this one! Trouble starts when someone else calls it one of the films of the year. A good job we deal with our reviews remotely or this could have ended in a hospital visit for one of them! The Swimmers – A Netflix drama based on a true story. A much more serious discussion about a very powerful film. And there you have it – the first double header review show. What do you think? Please let us know. In the meantime we will hope to see you At The Flicks

The Little Mermaid, FUBAR, Shazam, and even The Vanderpump Rules (much to Kevin's chagrin...) are up for grabs with a packed house this week. With a larger than usual cast of characters on the episode, the content gets... eclectic. On top of that we have a special addition this week, Jen's daughter Sydney. She joined to be a second voice to review The Little Mermaid, but she turned out to be an even better expert on Five Nights at Freddy's! The episode of course kicks off with The Little Mermaid before devolving into a tangent on movies releasing this coming month before returning to the next scheduled topic, FUBAR. Some comparisons are made to Citadel, but there is a lot of love for Arnold's first series.  The conversation then shifts to the much maligned Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Knowing this bunch, you can guess it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. This leads them to another conversation around the much better film, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.  Finally, Pete sees his opening and jumps into a conversation around Vanderpump Rules with Jen. Is it a good and stimulating conversation? I suppose it is if reality TV is your jam! It's fun to see how that side operates, though. Sydney then steals the spotlight in schooling the crew on the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's film. There's a lot to learn here if you're curious, including information about the original games how this film, produced by Blumhouse, could differ from the games.  The show finishes off with a quick discussion over some the recent trailers for films coming out the rest of the year, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Oppenheimer, and more. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Welcome back! It's another solo episode for Kevin and this is solely everyone else's fault. What are they thinking having lives and families?!? This is a short one so Kevin keeps it nice and concise. He starts with a quick recap of The Last Thing He Told Me before jumping into the new Peacock show, Mrs. Davis, which he thoroughly enjoyed. After a very small tangent into the new DCU he redirects over to The Diplomat on Netflix. Kevin then finishes the show with the very promising Love & Death on HBO. As always, thanks for watching! Welcome to another episode! This week we bring in another friend of Andrew's from his Chicago days, Sara. She is a huge fan of Dune and we felt like it was a great time to bring her on since that trailer just dropped! She's also super cool because she moonlit as a boxer for a while. Like a real life, punch throwing boxer! And then, of course, she lights Andrew's fire by talking Attack on Titan. Because she is a normal human being who needs actual sleep, the guys let her go around the halfway point. Rather than waiting to discuss the main topic, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Andrew rips off the wrapping paper and the guys get into it right away, while managing to stay relative spoiler free! After GotG, Kevin barrels through a few things he's watched. Bupkis on Peacock is great. Citadel on Prime is not so great. Ghosted on Apple TV+ is not as bad as people have said. And Silo on Apple TV+ looks very promising. He also marathoned the entire Scream franchise last week so that gets discussed as well. Then the guys finish on the new Paramount+ take on Fatal Attraction which has been excellent so far! As always, thank you for watching! If you haven'l already don't forget to like and subscribe! EstoBro and TV are fully prepared to lay the Tampa Bay Rays' baseball season to rest (1:00) due to the fiasco that has unfolded with Wander Franco and Shane McClanahan; more specifically on the former. The Gents have some major relief over the matter, with football season right around the corner and their participation in their first fantasy draft of the season. With a shortened month of August, the Gents wish to discuss the latest in film and video games. First, with the latest installment of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (19:30) that was released earlier in the month. EstoBro and TV share how this franchise has returned to the traditional standard of, 'kids having fun' type storyline, especially when animated features bring major franchises to the silver screen. EstoBro finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 as TV comes in with the commentary with James Gunn's full takeover of the DCEU is in full effect (33:05). Changing topics to video games, EstoBro acknowledges that the new Baldur's Gate III has a solid chance of upsetting the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for 'Game of the Year' (46:40), but TV has a rebuttal as the pair dissect the differences of the two RPGs. EstoBro also could not hesitate to break down what happened in last week's Pokémon Presents (57:10) confirming information that the fans already knew, yet somehow still revealed new information for the DLC release for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Finally, the show returns to its original roots with a classic 'Who has the munchies?' segment that the snack wrap has returned...but not at McDonald's (73:15). Burger King has revealed the Royal Crispy which looks to be very similar to what was once the beloved chicken snacking item, and TV is not too pleased about it. Interact with the Gents of the podcast on the following social media platforms:TwitterInstagramFacebookTumblrEmail: estobrotvpod@gmail.com

Eric and Daniel loved it, and they think it's the best of the three Guardians movies. The movie has excellent adventure, comedy, and heart. The villain, the High Evolutionary, is the most menacing yet. The movie does a great job of tapping into the deep-seated fear of abuse many people have experienced. The movie is a lovely goodbye to the Guardians, and they highly recommend it. If you haven't seen it yet be sure to check it out. Hosts: Daniel Levain, Ian Sweetman and Eric Sweetman. James Gunn's new closing entry in his GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY trilogy for Marvel revolves around a tragic backstory for Rocket-don't-say-Racoon that draws from a history of creation-vs.-creator narratives that stretches back to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. But Gunn himself has cited the cruel experimentations of H.G. Wells' Doctor Moreau, and specifically the 1932 film adaptation ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, as the reference point for Rocket's journey. So we traveled through the fog of time to explore Erle C. Kenton's depiction of Moreau's island, where the animal-man makeup effects and Charles Laughton's unique take on the mad scientist take center stage. Plus, a listener request for commentary track recommendations invites a slew of suggestions from our resident enthusiast.   Please share your comments, thoughts, and questions about ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 3, or anything else in the world of film, by sending an email to comments@nextpictureshow.net, or leaving a short voicemail at (773) 234-9730. Hello everyone! Todd and I have big thoughts about upcoming blockbusters, and we discuss in length what makes us nervous about some of our choices to watch this summer. For example: Is Harrison Ford too old to continue playing Indiana Jones? Can I let go of the fact that I can't stand underwater movies and just accept that Ariel is a mermaid, and that is where her story takes place? Will I be confused while watching Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3? How many more Mission Impossibles will Tom Cruise star in? At what point in Barbie will I fall in love with Ryan Gosling all over again? I'll give you a hint: Immediately.
