What makes a great frontman? A technically perfect voice? Good looks? Someone who can work the stage and crowd? Someone who oozes personality, charisma, and showmanship? Does your mind instantly go to classic frontmen like Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey, or Robert Plant? This week, we look at some of those frontmen who carried the torch during the classic alternative era. One of those guys is this week's Third Lad, Adam Sherman, the frontman for Boston power-pop rockers Private Lightning, who released an excellent underrated self-titled album for A&M Records in 1980. Following Private Lightning, Adam was the lead singer and songwriter in Americana band The Souls and a member of Boston rock n' roll institution Nervous Eaters. Adam's song from the last Nervous Eaters album, "Don't Need To Make You Mine" was named as the "Coolest Song in the World" on Little Steven's Underground Garage in 2024. Adam has also released the acclaimed solo albums Songbird, River of Dreams, and Triangle Sky - with a brand new record, Sorrows And Smiles, out in February. Learn more about your ad choices. We've been featuring a lot of artists lately that earned their bona fides pushing the boundaries of what electronic music could do. Well, few did it as ruthlessly as Cabaret Voltaire. From their beginning in the late 70s making "music" that's more creative sounds than tuneful songs, to their evolution over the next several decades stretching genres to suit their muse, the "Cabs" never went pop or sought hits. Frontman (and last original member) Stephen "Mal" Mallinder, joins us this week to discuss the farewell tour they're about to embark on, the new live album, But What Time Is It Really they're leaving as a parting gift to their fans, and the journey they've been on for 50 years. Send us Fan Mail this episode of the Women's Power to Heal Mother Earth podcast, Maya Tiwari explores a shift in human consciousness through the lens of a "Great Disclosure." The transcript blends spiritual metaphysics with a satirical take on how world leaders might reveal the truth about extraterrestrial involvement on Earth. Here is a summary of the key themes and narrative shifts:1. The Spiritual TransitionTiwari opens with a metaphysical call to action, suggesting that humanity is currently in a liminal state.Leaving the "3D Prison": She describes a move away from "cellular entrainment" of fear, lack, and suffering. The Galactic Role: She asserts that "Galactic light beings" have already won the battle for Earth's freedom, and humanity is now ready to reclaim its covenant of love and oneness.Destiny: The message is one of total liberation; the bars of the old dimension are already gone, and we no longer need to fight to be free.2. The Nature of the DisclosureThe "lorry load of manure" about to be dropped on humanity is the formal admission of an extraterrestrial presence that has allegedly spanned 100,000 years.Government Relations: The transcript claims that world governments have maintained close relationships with ETs, utilizing their advanced sciences and technology in secret. The Timeline: This involvement is framed not as a recent development, but as a foundational part of human history that has been systematically suppressed.3. The Satirical "Frontman" SpeechThe latter half of the transcript shifts into a sharp, comedic parody of a political announcement regarding "The Greatest Disclosure Ever."The Delivery: Tiwari mocks the potential clumsiness of such an announcement, comparing it to "assembling IKEA furniture while wearing oven mitts."The Persona: The speech adopts a distinct rhetorical style—obsessed with crowd-pleasing, golf, real estate, and "losers"—to highlight the absurdity of a high-level political figure breaking the news. The Allegations: The parody suggests that aliens have influenced everything from Senate votes and tax laws to the "mind takeover" that makes people believe pineapple belongs on pizza. (Of course, it is our world governance that had committed the “mind Over takeover of humanity.”The Solution: The "frontman" concludes by promising to "build a wall around the Earth" to stop the "cheaters from the sky" and make humanity great again.Key TakeawayThe transcript contrasts profound spiritual evolution with the absurdity of political theater. While Tiwari frames the internal shift as a beautiful transition into 6D consciousness, she portrays the external "disclosure" by world leaders as a chaotic, self-seSupport the showMay Peace Be Your Journey:Maya's approach transcends modern feminism by advocating for a holistic restoration of balance, moving beyond the fight for basic rights to reclaiming the innate power of the divine feminine, which includes procreation, forgiveness, nourishment, and cosmic creativity. While it would be easy to categorize the work of OTIS as Southern Rock, being from Kentucky, their musical background is much broader. In addition to being guided by the classic rock giants of the 1960s and 70s era, the members of OTIS draw inspiration from true greats—people like Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, and the artists of Motown—to create their own unique rock and roll sound. With Boone Froggett on guitar and vocals, John Seeley on bass, Alex Wells on guitar, and Dale Myers on drums, the members of The Otis Band are staying connected to their Kentucky roots. Growing up around traditional instruments like piano, fiddle, and guitar instilled in them an appreciation for country-rock, bluegrass, gospel, and folk music. Kentucky's rich musical heritage led them to discover the Rock and Blues heroes that continue to influence the bands original material. After releasing Tough Times: A Tribute to John Brim,—Former Chess Records Blues Recording Artist— in 2014, OTIS joined Cleopatra Records in 2017, with the release of their second album Eyes of the Sun. A chance meeting with ZZ Top's Billy F. Gibbons led to the legend listening to Otis and becoming a fan—even handing their albums off to the likes of Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck! Four songs from Eyes of the Sun were also included in the soundtrack of the 2020 film Street Survivors.OTIS has a new track out called I'm Wicked part of a forthcoming album out sometime in 2026!For more on the band checkout their website! https://theotisband.com

This week, we tackle the biggest faith questions young adults are asking right now (according to the recent Passion Conference) — from evidence for God's existence and the tension between free will and predestination, to suffering, salvation and thoughts on hell. It's an honest conversation about doubt, belief and why curiosity might be essential to spiritual growth. From there, Emily sits down with CITIZENS frontman Zach Bolen to talk about the band's new album Museum, being in the Christian music bubble while feeling like an outsider and why art doesn't need to explain itself to be meaningful. Plus, Jesse has some thoughts over the increasingly unhinged Guinness World Records, from pigs on skateboards to LEGO-related pain tolerance, and the crew plays a round of “Overrated, Underrated or Just Right,” covering reboots, word-of-the-year culture and more!Highlights:3:10 New Year check-in4:20 The Crown5:25 Why New Year's TV is terrible9:55 Fireworks gone wrong14:15 RELEVANT BUZZ17:05 The top faith questions young adults are asking at the Passion Conference31:00 Awards season highlights38:30 Zach Bolen of CITIZENS42:10 Faith, deconstruction, and the Nashville bubble46:20 Curiosity as a spiritual discipline50:10 SLICES50:14 Guinness World Records need a reboot56:20 OVERRATED, UNDERRATED, OR JUST RIGHT?Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
