Cy Curnin has been the frontman for The Fixx since they were formed in 1980. One of the few "classic" bands with their originial members today, they have produced a Platinum and Gold albums in their careers, with 16 songs landing on various singles charts. Multi-award winning program director Ray White sat down backstage with Cy in April of 2025 to talk about major events during the career of the band, his latest solo EP - My Own Worst Enemy, the latest album by The Fixx - Every Five Seconds and other awesome happenings. In our showcase segment we continue to focus on bands that launched in the 1980's featuring the latest on Depeche Mode, who in 2023 dropped Memento Mori and The Call who uncovered songs from back in the day and recently released them as The Lost Tapes. We're back from the 80's on this episode, from Classic Artists Today!
+ Nephew..... (og gud, hvor er det en typisk liste;).

What's up, dudes? Remember Band Aid and its mega-hit “Do They Know It's Christmas?” It spun off countless relief efforts, including Carol Aid 1985. Ken Kessler from Sounds of Christmas introduced me to this concert, and he's here to talk about its MTV and Music Box broadcast!Carol Aid was a famine relief concert held at the club Heaven in London. MTV and Music Box aired a cut down version, leaving out several acts. In fact, the likes of Magnum, Captain Sensible, and Miquel Brown (to name a few) were cut for time. It's quite unbelievable.Cliff Richard kicked off the broadcast version with “Another Christmas Day,” while John Parr sang “Once in Royal David's City.” Meanwhile, the Fixx pressed for donations and sang “Peace On Earth,” a hidden track from their following album. Subsequently, the event ended with the entire roster singing “Do They Know It's Christmas?” rather heartily.Chris De Burgh? Check. Anita Harris? She was there. Toto Coelo and the Flying Pickets? Got them too, though we have no idea what they sang. So grab your oversized checks, put on your red beret, and jam out to “Carols from Heaven” and Carol Aid 1985!Sounds of ChristmasFB: @SOCMusicTwitter: @SOCMusicIG: @socmusicGive us a buzz! In this episode, we're talking about one of my favorite bands from when I was in high school, The Fixx. We will also dig into my favorite Fixx album, Reach The Beach. When I moved to North County San Diego, in Oceanside California, I was exposed to new music from the alternative station 91X out of San Diego, and friends—especially my friend J.D. who was also a big fan of The Fixx. I heard a lot of their stuff on 91X, and J.D. copied me some of their early albums, and I became a big fan.

In this episode of “When Rock Ruled The Charts” we take a closer look at 2/22/1989, the day that Metallica loses a Grammy for best metal band to Jethro Tull. We will be looking at the singles chart for the BB hot 100. We know metal music comes in many different forms but, I think we can all agree that even though Jethro Tull influenced many Metal Bands, in 1989, Metallica was much more of a Metal band. Noel catches up with Andres del Castillo, who was the lead singer of the Canadian band, Eight Seconds. The synthpop/progressive rock group is best known for their 1986 hit, "Kiss You (When It's Dangerous)." It reached #14 overall in the Canadian charts, #1 in Quebec, and #72 in the United States. The band toured with Wang Chung in support of their amazing debut album, Almacantar. The album was produced by Rupert Hine, who produced The Fixx, Howard Jones and Tina Turner. Record company issues delayed the release of their second album, Big Houses, by two years. When it was released in 1990, the landscape had changed and the album came and went. The band broke up soon afterwards.

Our first two installments of the New Wave Game ended in ties, because we were both quite clueless. This week we move even deeper into the Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of the 80s CD series, as we attempt to guess each other's favorite songs on each volume. Among the weirder, more obscure stuff (any other fans of "I Eat Cannibals"?), we find plenty of new wave classics from Duran Duran, Thomas Dolby, The Tubes, The Fixx, Scandal, Dexy's Midnight Runners, and lots more. Can we possibly resist an oddity called "Chicken Outlaw"? Do we just wish we were in Tijuana eating barbecued iguana? Hop on the escalator of life with us to find out.
