Harvest Bible Fellowship's weekly Message.
Main point: Your power and position are meant to help those who have neither. 1. Oppose oppressors 2. Don’t become one
Special guest speaker, Frank Allen, continues our sermon series, Revive, and uses the passage of Nehemiah 5 to challenge and convict us to ask the Lord to ignite our hearts to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord.
Tonight we look at what can we do with people who push all our buttons? How does God expect us to respond? Is there a way we can respond that will change how they act with us? Here is the review I posted last week. We will spend about half the time looking at what Nehemiah did, and the rest on how we can apply it to our situations. A topic I have been asked a lot about of late is how I can know I’m hearing the voice of God? Stay with me to the end and you will find help on this!

Nehemiah and his rebuilders experience opposition when their critics see the tremendous process they are making. Fear is used to intimidate God's people into stopping their work but God is greater. His people needed to realize that they were stronger together. They needed to rally together with like-minded people! No one should fight alone. A unified people, rallied together, doing God's work are unstoppable. Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/events/48959522

Church hurts ever got you down? The way Nehemiah addresses the hurts God's people were causing each other is a lesson to us all.
We join Nehemiah as he faces his first internal conflict. What do you do when everything in the city is going great but some people are at risk of missing out because of things that happened in the past? Nehemiah has so much to say to our world today.
This sermon is the seventh in our message series on the book of Nehemiah. The title of the series is "Rebuilding Your Life." We're looking at the account of Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, and applying insights to the challenges we face in rebuilding the broken things in our own lives. This message is based on Nehemiah chapter 5, which talks about another challenge that Nehemiah faced in the rebuilding process: INTERNAL STRIFE. We'll talk about the challenges of internal conflict, but also the importance of unselfishness and fairness ... qualities that are important for us to be thinking about nationally during this Fourth of July holiday weekend, as well as for all of our individual lives.

Dealing With Conflict From Within: 1. Conflict is inevitable 2. Conflict should sadden (even anger) us 3. We must get a handle on ourselves before we can handle conflict

We are quick to respond if injustice is inflicted upon ourselves, but how do we react when we see others suffer injustice? The fifth chapter of Nehemiah helps us see a patter that can be imitated because it was perfected in Jesus.

Jesus said the poor will always be among us. So as Christians, what is our responsibility to the poor? In Nehemiah 5:1-19, Pastor Dan shares why, as Christians, it is our responsibility to defend the poor and the vulnerable against those who seek to take advantage of them.
Have you ever had a great idea in the past that when you look back and think, "What was I thinking at the time?" What do we do when we do things, that in the moment seem like a brilliant gain, only to find out later that we sacrificed more in the long run? Join us as we explore the book of Nehemiah and we try to answer this question.

How to make a difference
When our love of God drives are treatment of one another, God is glorified and his people benefit.
God shows throughout the Bible his love and care for the poor. How are we doing in showing God's love?
WE EXIST TO SEE PEOPLE REDEEMED, RENEWED, AND RESTORED THROUGH THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST.
Nehemiah is determined to see the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem to be finished for the glory of God. Last week, Nehemiah's enemies were outsiders who criticized the work. This week we see his enemies being his own people. This stand to reason that if the devil cannot get to you through outward attacks, he will attack from within. same is true for us! Nehemiah stays focused and leads his people through this critical time. What was his secret? Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/e/1aHE
