Pastor Greg completes our sermon series, highlighting the various themes that have come up throughout it, especially regarding how Jesus makes us satisfied and complete, while emphasizing that this completeness is also manifested through a dynamic and loving community, that is, as the Body of Christ.

If the church is all about "we," how do we ensure that "we" stay united amongst so many things that could divide us? Let's wrap up our series on Colossians and see how Paul stuck with unity in the midst of a community that could've very easily been divided.
The 10th sermon in a series on Colossians: Christ the King Paul closes his letter to the Colossian congregation by showing how much of his ministry is dependent upon others. In naming many other lesser known saints, Paul illustrates to us how the Christian life can only be experienced with and for one another to the glory of Jesus Christ! In the final sermon in our Colossians series we look at the unique relationship between Onesimus, a runaway slave, and his master Philemon. Paul has a revolutionary take on what Philemon and Onesimus should do to restore their relationship. It sheds light on how the gospel changes everything in light of God's grace and mercy toward all humanity.

Paul had friends as ministry partners that he could send out on his behalf. They were supportive and encouraging. What kind of friend are we to others, especially in ministry?

What do you know about the people who traveled with Paul? The people he came to depend on? Well, in tonight's midweek service as we finish the series on Colossians, we look at the people Paul mentions as he signs off. Fellow workers like Tychicus, Aristarchus, John Mark, Epaphras, and others. One of the great lessons to learn from this conclusion to this Epistle is how much we can be a support to those in the five fold ministry. We hear little a bout these men, but if Paul depended on them and needed them, then they made him better.

We are a church that steadfastly believes that the Bible is God’s word revealed to us. We believe that each word was carefully written and preserved for us by the Holy Spirit. We are stretched by passages like Colossians 4:7-18, as this passage seems so personal and dated that it holds little for us. But this is not so! We can learn much from Paul’s emphases in this section of Colossians.

In the church today we cannot do ministry alone. We need faithful partners. The apostle Paul, himself, was not a "lone wolf" in ministry. Paul gives us insight into what faithful partnership in ministry looks like. As he ends the book of Colossians, he commends a number of people that have worked and traveled with him over the years. Paul did not minister alone. His faithful friends encouraged him, comforted him, and struggled in ministry with him.

As Paul concludes his short letter to the church at Colossae, he sends greetings from those with him and in doing so, we can learn a lot about the people who surrounded Paul. In the end, we can see that Paul's ministry was all about God, God's reputation and other people.
