Kraliçeler iki gruba ayrılarak iki ölümsüz Shakespeare eserinin parodilerini canlandırıyorlar.
The bois are back in town and they've never been loopier! Who are we? Where are we? Down Under, apparently! For this spicy episode we have TWO Lip Synchs For Your Lives to cover, a questionably improvised improv challenge, what qualifies as "fancy underpants," what makes a performance good versus Shakesqueer 2.0, and a villainous runway that has the bois gobbling up some poison apples.
Almost two years ago, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Dustin Britt prior to a production of Peter Weiss' MARAT/SADE he directed at St. John's Metropolitan Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Now, he's back with them helming an upcoming production of Terrence McNally's CORPUS CHRISTI, which will be taking place from June 1st-10th. Dustin is a Triangle-based theatremaker for more than twenty years as an actor, stage manager, designer, music director, playwright, educator, arts journalist, and director with over a dozen theatre companies. He has directed productions for Seed Art Share (THE MIRACLE WORKER), Sonorous Road (NO CONTEST, A TELLER'S TALE), North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre (HEATHERS, asst. director), and Bare Theatre (SHAKESBEER, SHAKESBEER II: THE BARD STRIKES BACK, TIMON OF ATHENS, SHAKESQUEER, and their 2020 production of MARAT/SADE). He has also completed extensive training with Theatrical Intimacy Education, is certified in Mental Health First Aid, and holds a Master of Arts in Special Education from East Carolina University. Episode Notes We're here and we're getting ShakesQUEER. This week we're speaking with the notorious SGB, otherwise known as Professor Stephen Guy-Bray. Stephen is currently Professor of English Literature at the University of British Columbia where he is a specialist in Renaissance poetry, queer studies, and poetic insemination. In this episode we discuss whether Shakespeare was a top or a bottom, find out which play is the gayest play ever, and we figure out what the relationship is between sonnet sequences and incel culture. Stephen also bestows upon us wisdom about poetry cakes, the signature scent of a monograph, and what literary tattoos we should get. Stephen's most recent book, 'Shakespeare and Queer Representation' was published in 2020 and he's already gone and finished ANOTHER monograph on Line Endings in Renaissance poetry (out in May 2022). To find out more about Stephen's research into hot man-on-man action you can follow him @SGUYBRAY. Tread Perilously begins Total Request 4 -- a month of requests from the top tier Patreon subscribers -- with the challenge of a competition reality show! The program: RuPaul's Drag Race. The episode: "ShakesQueer" When the contestants are tasked to stage Drag-ified productions of Shakespeare plays, it becomes obvious one team is better suited to the job than the other. Will a decision made because of friendship sink Kennedy Davenport's prospects of winning the whole season? Will the revised version of MacBeth, "MacBitch," prove not to be the slam-dunk it should be? And will a truly remarkable gown be enough to prevent one contestant from being eliminated? Erik wishes he could be more catty like the contestants. Justin is surprised by Erik's choice of weekly savior. It leads to a discussion of Natalie Portman. Both reveal the reality shows they actually watch and how it informs their appreciation of RuPaul's Drag Race. Erik senses a sinister undercurrent in the editing of a certain team's story. He also admits he does not know how the kids feel about Shakespeare. Justin recalls the use of Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet in Southern California literature education. Erik discusses his dislike of Baz Luhrmann's filmography. And, somehow, a Star Wars digression occurs.

It's not uncommon for a season of Drag Race to lose the plot a little on the third episode (Shakesqueer, anyone?), but this week really went on a sudden vacation. The eight remaining queens are tasked with the ever-relevant task of designing themed hotel rooms. The results are, as expected, not exactly Fodor's favorites. A 3-in-1 runway makes us nostalgic for Drag Race Thailand, the judges' critiques are meticulously “crafted” for social media chaos, and the lip sync is surprisingly more of a mercy kill than an assassination. In volume 2's fifth episode, Merry and Deah explore queer subtext and compulsory heterosexuality in various adaptations of Shakespeare's comedy 'Much Ado About Nothing'. This episode is to be the first of our "Shakesqueer" miniseries, where we hope to discuss LGBT subtext throughout the playwright's work. Adaptations focused on in this episode are The Public's Much Ado About Nothing (2019) starring Danielle Brooks and Grantham Coleman, Josie Rourke's 2011 stage production with Catherine Tate and David Tennant, and the 1993 film with Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, and Keanu Reeves. What does it mean to “queer” Shakespeare? Is there evidence for gay and queer characters? What was being queer like in Shakespeare’s time? Was Shakespeare himself queer? Does labelling his characters as such even have any purpose? Listen as Meg explores these questions, seeking to find out how she feels about the queering of Shakespeare's characters. People mentioned: Madhavi Menon, Alan Bray, Aviva Dautsch, Bruce Smith.

William Shakespeare’s plays were challenging gender and identity long before today’s discussion of gender fluidity, and his prolific body of work was ahead of its time in many ways. A new project by Rubber City Theatre, called Shakesqueer, taps into this universality of Shakespeare’s works and will adapt a few classics with LGBT themes and characters that are also reflective of Akron. The idea was a recent winner in the Knight Arts Challenge and Dane Leasure, founder and artistic director of Rubber City Theatre, joins Shane, Cody and Chris to talk about Shakesqueer, the theatre company’s new home on Romig Road (part of a unique partnership with the Salvation Army of Akron and Summit County) and the troupe’s current production of Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol." For more info and to find upcoming Rubber City Theatre productions this season, visit www.rubbercitytheatre.com. This is the third podcast in a series featuring Knight Arts Challenge winners.
Sponsored by BIGPIPE.CO.NZWe thought we should shake things up and swap seats, and all hell broke loose.
