Today, we're glad to have Brad Yates on the show. Brad is an expert in emotional freedom technique (EFT), commonly known as tapping. EFT is a protocol I can personally attest to. Brad was a trained, practicing hypnotherapist with an acting job (Days of Our Lives!) on the side. Brad's wife, on the other hand, was a director of a program for homeless men and women. Having a real-life superhero for a wife, Brad felt like he was called to do more. And that was when he stumbled across personal development, which eventually led him to EFT. EFT, a process that involves tapping different acupuncture meridians, is believed to address many different issues. After incorporating EFT to his hypnotherapy sessions, Brad found himself losing patients because of the permanent healing EFT provides. Brad thinks that tapping to meridian points sends calming signals to the nervous system, which causes relief. EFT has no approved therapeutic claims. But does this mean it's not real? No. In fact, an Australian psychology professor did a chemical study where brain scans showed that an abnormal brain activity was normalized after the subject underwent tapping. There are also other researchers that back up the authenticity of tapping. Many people are still skeptic about EFT, but it's definitely worth a shot given the scientific evidences. Some may argue that Brad doesn't even have a medical license. But how do we explain that he's able to make people better? Today's Guest: Brad Yates For over 20 years, Brad has been helping people tap through their blocks and into the best version of themselves. Many people have dreams of success and peace that seem just slightly out of reach, blocked by fears, anxieties, or resistance to moving forward or past barriers. The reality is that everyone is capable of living incredible lives, and often we're the only thing standing in our way. Tapping is a very effective method of physically resetting the body's fear response by tapping on energy meridians throughout the body while talking through and resolving emotional resistance or trauma. Brad tries to take an empathetic and grounded approach to helping people release their blocks through tapping, because he doesn't believe that personal development needs to be punishing or tedious. Today I have the honor to have Brad Yates as my guest. He explains in simple words what EFT is and for all the geeks out there he shares some of the latest scientific research. Brad is known internationally for his creative and often humorous use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Listening to our conversation you will know why. He makes it very light and fun. In Episode 016 I spoke about why I love tapping so much, how and when it can be used, and be helpful. EFT is a very practical tool that can be easily done - it works like the drumbeat for the backbeat of the healing process. Brad likes to call it energetic and emotional hygiene. Meaning it can be easily incorporated into your daily routines. Brad shares with us a funny story (spoiler alert: chocolate is involved!) of how he found tapping, respectively how tapping found him. We discuss the question of whether tapping also works for people who don't believe in it and the importance of digging deep, asking questions on why we do and feel certain things, and at the same time being gentle with ourselves. At the end of our conversation, Brad guides us exclusively through a tapping sequence on not feeling good enough. Brad is the author of the best-selling children's book "The Wizard's Wish", the co-author of the best-seller "Freedom at Your Fingertips", and a featured expert in the film “The Tapping Solution”. He has also been a presenter at a number of events, including Jack Canfield's Breakthrough to Success, has done teleseminars with “The Secret” stars Bob Doyle and Dr. Joe Vitale, and has been heard internationally on a number of internet radio talk shows. Uncomplicate Your Relationship With Money Support the podcast! Dealing with money is a fact of life. We can't live without it. In the best of all possible worlds money would be perceived just as a tool that helps us to fulfill our daily needs. The problem is that on an emotional level we don't perceive money as simply a tool. Instead, we write stories about ourselves in terms of our relationship with money. Not having money can mean that we don’t feel worthy. If do have money, we feel like we are being greedy. It is as if we can't win. No matter how much money we do or don't have, we write a negative story about ourselves. This week I have a conversation with Brad Yates about how we can uncover the past experiences responsible for the conscious and unconscious stories we tell around money. We also talk about the first steps we can take to tap for these stories. Guest: Brad Yates Contact: twitter @EFTWizard; web @ TapWithBrad.com; facebook @ facebook.com/BradYatesTapping About Brad: Brad has had the privilege and pleasure of working with a diverse group of clients, from CEOs to professional and NCAA athletes, from chiropractors and psychiatrists to corporate and federal attorneys, from award-winning actors to residents at a program for homeless men and women in Santa Monica. For several years he taught a weekly class using EFT and guided imagery at Sacramento Drug Court. He has also been a presenter at a number of events, including several International Energy Psychology Conferences and the Walk On Water (WOW) Fest in Los Angeles. He has presented at Jack Canfield's Breakthrough to Success event, and has done teleseminars with “The Secret” stars Bob Doyle and Dr. Joe Vitale. He is also the co-author of the best-seller "Freedom at Your Fingertips," a featured expert in the film “Try It On Everything” (along with Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Dr. Norman Shealy and Dr. Bruce Lipton), and has been heard internationally on a number of internet radio talk shows.
Here in the United States it already feels as if the Presidential election campaign has been going on for way too long. And we still have eight more months to go. The lead story (and often the first five stories) on the nightly news is invariably about the election. One of the most difficult parts of the election season is hearing most of the candidates talking about how bad everything is. They focus on negativity so that they can talk about how great they are and how they are the key to a brighter future. This sustained daily dose of negativity can take an emotional toll. This week I chat with Brad Yates about how we can participate in the process fully without being overwhelmed by the negativity. I have a feeling this is an interview you will come back to a number of times throughout the election season.
