She emphasizes the importance of responding to stress in a healthy manner and provides practical tips for making lasting changes to eliminate stress. Gina suggests focusing on making changes in our outer world to lighten our stress load, especially amidst the current world challenges. She encourages listeners to evaluate their lives using a pie chart divided into sections such as health, money, relationships, and environment, highlighting the importance of harmony rather than seeking perfect balance in all areas. Gina stresses the significance of accepting changes we cannot control, particularly in the face of the uncertainties brought by events like the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the episode, Gina offers practical advice, such as resolving legal or financial issues promptly, automating bill payments, delegating tasks efficiently, and decluttering unnecessary items to reduce stress. She also recommends cutting out volunteer work that doesn't serve one's well-being, decreasing time spent with stressful individuals, asking for help with errands, and reevaluating work situations to determine if they bring more negativity than positivity. Gina concludes by quoting Sharon Salzberg and emphasizes the importance of seeking happiness while reducing suffering by making intentional choices. Learn more about your ad choices. NOTES: Stress is when PRESSURE is GREATER than our CAPACITY to handle the situation. As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38–42 (NLT) HOW TO MANAGE STRESS 1. REMEMBER WHO GOD IS. Worship reminds me how God is BIGGER than my STRESS. 2. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. Avoid COMPARISON. 3. REMEMBER WHAT YOU REALLY NEED What do I really NEED? 4. REMEMBER TO SIT. Your INPUT must exceed your OUTPUT. BOTTOM LINE: I can't control WHAT happens to me, but with God's help, I can choose my RESPONSE. CHALLENGE: Identify one thing to help REDUCE your stress.
Listen to today's podcast... Gone are the days that some well-meaning teacher would take their knuckle and drive it into the middle of your back and tell you to sit up straight. The Chiropractic Association has found that even young children are suffering from back pain much earlier than previous generations. Though a major cause of back and neck pain is kids and their backpacks, it is also our overall poor posture. Hours of computer slouching, hunching over while texting and laying around as a couch potato have serious repercussions on our posture. The good news: there are easy things people can do to Reduce Your Stress By Correcting Your Posture. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! So Here are today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Correct Posture Month: Practice the wall stand. Back up to a wall so your heels, buttocks, shoulders and head all lightly touch the wall while you keep everything level, relaxed and aligned– and take 3 slow breaths, feeling your body's best posture. Shoes matter. For women, there is no such thing as a good high heel for your posture. Trade in the stilettos for a shoe that gives you the proper support. It is critical to understand that the body impacts the mind. Standing up straight and walking tall will help you to think and feel better. Reduce Your Stress By Correcting Your Posture and remaining calm, more relaxed, and more physically and mentally healthy. Happy Monday Friend!! If you have been enjoying learning about living a simpler life on this podcast, please take 30 seconds and leave a rating and review and let me know what you are loving about this podcast because that is how more people can learn about this podcast! Thank you so much!!!!! There are so many benefits to living a simpler life and after living the chaotic life for many years, I can't even imagine going back to that. I never have guilt that I am unable to attend events and activities because now my schedule is flexible and I don't have to miss out on anything and there is just an everyday enjoyment to life because my focus is on the things that matter to me and that I value. I want you to have this pure joy every day as well so here are 6 benefits you will enjoy when you slow down and live with more intention. By simplifying your life, you can eliminate many of the things that cause you stress, such as clutter, excess possessions, and a hectic schedule. This can help you feel calmer and more relaxed. How would you like to reduce some of your stress? Simplifying your life can also free up more time for the things that really matter, such as spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies and interests, and spending time doing things you enjoy. Who wouldn't enjoy spending time your way. Living a simpler life often means spending less money on things you don't really need, which can result in significant financial savings over time and I'm sure you are looking to save money right now since groceries and regular expenses keep increasing. When you have fewer distractions in your life, you may find it easier to focus on what's important and make decisions with more clarity and purpose. You may have more time to prepare healthy meals, exercise, and get enough rest when you simplify which will help with overall better health. Living a simpler life often means consuming less and producing less waste, which can have positive environmental impact. Getting started on a simpler life can be a gradual process, but here are some tips to help you begin: Declutter: Start by getting rid of things you no longer need or use. This can help you create more physical space and mental clarity. Donate, sell, or recycle items that are still in good condition and focus on keeping the things that are truely important and meaningful to you. Streamline and Simplify your schedule: Take a look at your daily schedule and see if there are any activities or commitments you can cut back on or eliminate altogether. Prioritize the things that bring you joy and fulfillment, and let go of the rest. Focus on saying "no" to commitments and activities that don't align with your values or goals so you can make sure you are doing things that are important to you. Practice mindfulness and take time to be present and fully engaged in the moment. This can help you appreciate the simple things in life and reduce stress and anxiety. Reduce screen time and digital distractions: Limit your use of technology and social media to help you disconnect. Focus on being present in the moment and engaging with the people and activities around you Practice gratitude: Take time to appreciate and be thankful for the things you have in life. This can help you find contentment and satisfaction with a simpler lifestyle. Explore living with less and finding joy in the simple things in life. Simplifying your life is a process and it won't happen overnight. Start with small steps and be gentle with yourself as you make changes. Over time, you may find that living a simpler life brings greater joy and fulfillment to your daily life. What are healthy boundaries for a pharmacist? Boundaries are the guidelines for how you want to be treated by others. They help you honor and get what you want and need without feeling guilty. Why is this important? When you set healthy boundaries, you honor your needs and wants, and this sets you free to be your authentic self in every situation. Boundaries bring your power back to you. They help improve your relationships with everyone...family, friends, co-workers, partner, and yourself. In this episode
I remember when I felt exhausted and burned out as an overworked pharmacist. I would come home after a 10 plus hour shift and collapse on the couch. Many days, I was too tired to even order takeout. I would make myself sick...literally...by worrying about a potential mistake I might have made when a patient's health is on the line. Sometimes I felt unvalued and disrespected...especially when a physician, nurse, or patient, would yell at me for simply doing my job. Pharmacy is often overlooked, yet we are KEY to improving patients' lives. In this episode, find out how to go from burnout to reclaiming your passion ♥️ QUIZ: What Adventure Is Best to Reduce Your Stress? Planning a wedding while running a business was a lot to handle, especially with the pandemic making things even more complicated. But I was able to reduce my stress and find positive moments in the wedding planning process. And it all led up to the most magical day of my life!
