In part 2 of our Westside for Weightlifting series, I am joined by The Strength Agenda's head coach Tom Sroka. Tom has spent the majority of his life around a barbell, training for throwing, weightlifting, strongman, highland games, the list goes on. During this time he spent years working with one of the best weightlifting coaches the USA has seen, Glenn Pendlay. Glenn famously populated the use of Westside concepts for weightlifting, a tradition that Tom has since carried on. In this episode, we take a deep dive into Tom's training methods for weightlifting.Enjoy.Tom's social:https://www.instagram.com/strength_coach_sroka/?hl=enhttps://www.instagram.com/thestrengthagenda/?hl=enMy social:https://www.instagram.com/josh_philwl/

Travis Cooper and Walt Neubauer host Tom Sroka to give you the scoop on accessory exercises, training for different sports, MAS wrestling, and transitioning from athlete to coach.
Tom Sroka has the best calves in the history of time, hands down, no doubt. Along with that, Tom has built quite the resume in strength sports. This episode returns to a longer format but with good reason. There were a great number of topics discussed with the nuance and detail they deserved, something not often accomplished in the current day climate of instant gratification.
Epsiode 9 features Tom Sroka in our strength athlete season. Tom is in my opinion currently one of the top level "crossover" strength athletes we have in the US. Tom has competed in weightlifting and MAS wrestling at very high levels and is a Pro Highland Games athlete. Follow him on IG @strength_coach_sroka.

Tom Sroka has done it all — literally. A former standout thrower in track & field, Tom has competed in weightlifting, powerlifting, GRID, and Highland Games competition. He's excelled in each to an impressive degree, making him one of the world's most well-rounded strength athletes, period.Tom's also built a reputation for coaching all levels of strength athletics, particularly when it comes to weightlifting. You can find him at countless national competitions as he trains and develops athletes, often from the ground up.Recently, Tom has developed a passion for — and elite-level skills in — the rising sport of Mas Wrestling, where athletes face opponents one-on-one in something that resembles a cross between deadlifting and tug-of-war. Tom's rise in the sport took him to the World Championships, where he got firsthand experience with the sport's Siberian roots and old school training techniques.
On this episode, we talk to one of Travis's former athletes, Tom Sroka. He has transitioned from an athlete to a coach, so we talk about all of that plus some silly online controversies and the programming principles he's found to be effective.

From June 2012 to March 2016, Glenn Pendlay assembled a group of lifters with some of the best potential in the country, and they trained full-time. It was an interesting experiment that changed the way elite-level lifters train and live today. We're talking with some of the team, including 2016 Olympian Morghan King, World Team member and multiple-time National Champ James Tatum, along with various national-level medalists Kaleb Whitby, Tayler Harris, Sean Rigsby, Mike Szela, and your host, Tom Sroka. The gang relives their favorite memories, talks about the best and worst things to come out of their days at MuscleDriverUSA, what their plans are for the next quad, and the injuries and impact of full-time training. Don't miss the lightning round, where you won't stop laughing at the gang's antics. Plus, on the top of the show, Tom talks about the BEST barbell club in US history, York Barbell -- the team that launched the "professional" lifting movement.
