Don Beebe was the first player to be a part of 6 Super Bowl teams and is famous for chasing down Leon Lett. Deion Sanders and Don Beebe both had the combine record of 4.25 in the 40. Don shares the behind the scene story when he was at the combine. Insane! So many miracle stories in Don's story. Out of football for 3 years, one of the colleges that had recruited him out of high school called and asked if he'd come back and play. His grandfather was not a good man, but Don's dad succeeded as a dad even though he had an awful father. He changed the Legacy of the Beebe name. After he retired from football, he created The House of Speed and has trained over 200,000 athletes. He coached high school and won state championships and he is now the head coach at Aurora University. He was able to sign a 10 year contract and demanded some specific things to be included in his contract.   -Why do bad things happen to good people? Romans 8:28 -Why did Don run down Leon Lett in the SuperBowl? -What is the #1 attribute we need to be a great leader? -How do we know if we are actually a Man of God? -What's something you learned from legendary coach Marv Levy? -How does revenge affect you and what are the ripple effects? Some of my takeaways: "If it's about playing time, then we don't have a relationship." "What you are at home IS what you really are." "Discipline out of love"  "Character will be revealed in every game you play." "Things are Caught not Taught." "Sin will keep you from this book." "It's important that you know the playbook. If you don't know the playbook, you can't perform in life."   Check out Don's website HERE Order Don's new devotional In His Image HERE Join our FREE Facebook group of Journey Dads HERE Christmas Gift Idea: Let me know if you buy one of my wife's children's books. Despite theories to the contrary, religious nationalism, and the use of religion to determine membership in the national community, has continued to play a role in processes of identification in societies all around the globe ... and such processes seems likely to continue to structure the ways in which communities view themselves even in today's globalized and seemingly secularized world. – Gregory Goalwin, Borders of Belief: Religious Nationalism and the Formation of Identity in Ireland and Turkey (Rutgers UP, 2022) Religion and nationalism are two of the most powerful forces in the world. And as powerful as they are separately, humans throughout history have fused religious beliefs and nationalist politics to develop religious nationalism, which uses religious identity to define membership in the national community. But why and how have modern nationalists built religious identity as the foundational signifier of national identity in what sociologists have predicted would be a more secular world? This book takes two cases - nationalism in both Ireland and Turkey in the 20th century - as a foundation to advance a new theory of religious nationalism. By comparing cases, Goalwin emphasizes how modern political actors deploy religious identity as a boundary that differentiates national groups. This theory argues that religious nationalism is not a knee-jerk reaction to secular modernization, but a powerful movement developed as a tool that forges new and independent national identities. "In an age where religious nationalisms and populisms are on the rise, Goalwin's comparative-historical work is a welcome contribution for comprehending how religious identities and politics interact. A valuable source for social scientists as well as non-specialists who are interested in this complex phenomenon." – Efe Peker, co-author, Challenging Neoliberalism at Turkey's Gezi Park: From Private Discontent to Collective Action Gregory Goalwin is an assistant professor of sociology at Aurora University in Illinois. However, many tangental conversations occurred, that in my mind were much more usable and fundamental in the world of exercise and strength & conditioning. Chad and I dove into banter on the topic of neuromuscular fatigue with tools to assess and understand the data and how to apply the information to your advantage. Yes, the countermovement jump was a topic covered in the discussion, but the use of force plate and force plate data was specific to the research paper... not so usable to the everyday person. Ultimately, the underlying theme of our discussion revolved around the need for mastery of the basics and building a physical foundation that creates a bullet-proof body ready for anything. Bringing back the man, they myth, the legend, Chad Trudo - The Direction of Strength & Conditioning at Aurora University. In this episode, Chad and I break down a recent article on post-activation potentiation. The theory behind this tactic is the use of a traditional exercise followed by a high velocity movement with hopes that the traditional exercise primed the nervous system to perform better during the high velocity movement. Kind of a mouthful there, but the idea has some real prowess in the world of strength and conditioning with tons of data supporting its use. But, before you apply this strategy there are a few things you may need to consider, such as: 1. How heavy of a load should I use during the strength exercise, and for how many reps? 2. What kind of high velocity movement pairs well? 3. How long of a rest interval should I use between the two movements? 4. How can I make sure fatigue doesn't affect my performance? These are just a few questions we attempt to answer using the latest data. Dive in and get all the juicy details.Guest: Chad TrudoIG: @coachtrudoArticle:Tsoukos, A., et. al.
