Sarah Toukan comes from a family of entrepreneurs in the middle-east. She attended Stanford for her bachelors and masters in mechanical engineering, post which she worked in real estate and food and beverage industry and currently is the co-founder and leads the product at Ziina. As the UAE's first licensed peer-to-peer payment app, Ziina is on a mission to simplify finance for everyone. She has been named as one of the Top 10 Women In tech by Forbes. In this episode, we speak with Sarah about design thinking, conducting user-interviews, the beginning of Ziina and among many other things about how fin-tech founders should think about blockchain and the concepts of decentralized finance. 

Early in her childhood, living in a multicultural and pluralistic country as Israel, Miriam Toukan observed how she could move hearts with her songs and how it became a first step in making changes. Mamoun is head of Business Development at Arab Transit, a Shipping and Logistics company based in Jordan. He is a co-founder and the CEO of Arqflow, a cloud platform founded by MIT alums, that helps businesses streamline supply chain workflows while collaborating with their network partners. Mamoun has over 10 years of theoretical expertise and direct experience in Shipping and Logistics and has been involved in projects focusing on digitization and integrating processes. He holds a master's degree in Supply Chain Management from MIT and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Toronto. Mamoun is part of the MIT Arab Alumni Association board, serving as the Treasurer.

Mitä pitää saada pakettiin, sehän se on kuumottavin haasteemme. Kilpailukykypakettien pitäisi ottaa mallia parhaasta - äitiyspaketista. Vaikka täydellinen ei ole sekään. Suomi oli ennen sopimusyhteiskunta. Tarkoitti, että sopimuksia saatiin tehtyä. Nyt ummetukseen saattaisi auttaa se, että asiat nähtäisiin pienessä mittakaavassa. Toukan kokoisessa. Kilpailukykypaketti ja kannustinpaketti ovat yhtä huonoja sanoja kuin yhteiskuntasopimus. Eivät kerro mitä ovat syöneet ja mitä aikovat syödä. Paketit saisivat ottaa mallia äitiyspaketista. Se on tunnustettu ja toimivaksi havaittu, jo suunnitteluvaiheessa. Äitiyspakkaus on Kaikki pienoiskoossa, siinä on selitetty elämän edellytykset. Mitä avuton tarvitsee ja mitä ei. Mikä tuntuu hyvältä. Se mikä ei, jääköön pois. Kaikki on kiteytetty 56 tuotteeseen. Miten äitiyspaketti, kaikkien rakastama ja setienkin arvostama, saatiin koottua? Kela sen kokosi itsenäisesti maalaisjärkeä ja lämmintä tunnetta sekoittaen, etunenässä tarvittavan ajatteli loppuun asti joku Johanna. Rahat laskettiin etukäteen, kun budjetti tiedettiin. Haluttiin laatua ja kannustavuutta, ripaus iloakin, huomaan, mitä nyt itse tavaraa kauempaa tarkastelen. Lisäksi kuunneltiin perheiden toiveita. Siis niiden, kenelle pakettia oltiin kasaamassa. Ei se sen vaikeampaa ole, työmarkkinajohtajat! Vaikka perheiden toiveita kuunneltiin, kirkkaimpana loisti ajatus, että tärkeintä on saada paketti ajoissa kasaan. Kaikkien toiveet eivät toteudu, enemmistö kuitenkin välttyy intohimot salpaavalta pahalta mieleltä. Esimerkiksi viime vuoden uutuus kuolahuivi sai niin innostuneen vastaanoton, että se päätettiin säilyttää. Joku oli varmasti Kelan kahvipöydässä sitä mieltä, että kuola saa jatkossa valua kumpareissa kohti napaa, käytetään sekin raha johonkin hienompaan kokonaisuuteen, vaikka lihavampaan makuupussiin. Mutta siellä se kuolahuivi on ja tuntuu käyttäjän arjessa. Miksei miehille lähetetä kuolahuiveja? Ainakin minä kuolaan yön aikana kolmasosan tyynystäni läpimäräksi. Kun ikääntyy, kaikki nahka antaa myöten, myös suun pielusta. Se on ajatuksena mukava, että joku toinen on ajatellut ja koonnut kaikki valmiiksi setiksi. Mutta. Vaikka äitiyspakkaus on lähes täydellinen ja se pitäisi todella postittaa viipymättä Sipilälle, Lylylle ja Häkämiehelle oppimateriaaliksi, se kompastuu tänä vuonna. Se unohtaa miten yksilöllisiä me kaikkein syvimmissä tarpeissamme olemmekaan. Se käsittelee vastasyntynyttä lasta osana massaa, niin kuin yhteiskunta meitä käsittelee. Se sortuu stereotyyppiseen holhoamiseen ja turvallisuuden tunteen tuoteajatteluun. Äitiyspakkauksessa on virhe. Tarkoitan tietenkin uuden äitiyspakkauksen unilelua. Paketista löytyy nössönnäköinen pupuhahmo, joka muistuttaa kansainvälisestä teollisuudesta. Se on nukkuvinaan. Niin kuin markkinavoimat. Ei ne nuku. Unilelua on kuulemma toivottu kovasti. Kuka on!? Aikuiset tietenkin. Niin, eivät loppukäyttäjät – oman elämänsä rakentajat. Tämä kaikki kertoo miten ajattelu on lyhentynyt. Se on surkastunut kuin tiskipöydälle unohdettu napanuora. Unilelu on pienen ihmisen tärkeä turva. Enemmän kuin mikään lelu. Siihen projisoidaan paljon, se antaa turvaa, ja tuoksuu jo kohta tutulta. Kyllä kai petikaverilla jotain väliä on? Ja sitten Kela jakaa joka vuosi 40 000 samanlaista unilelua. Mitä se pupu tekee tuon ikäluokan psyykelle? Jos isi on väsynyt ja survoo tuon stereotyypin kalleimpansa kainaloon? Silloin joku toinen unilelu jää valitsematta, joku joka on sykähdyttänyt jo kaukaa ja tahtonut mukaan. Meidän perheessä unilelu on ollut toistakymmentä vuotta Pertti. Nyt jo terrakotan värinen patinoitunut vauvanukke. Olen poiminut sen grillin parilalta ja monesta muusta. Se on aina ollut koppura ja hankala kainaloon. Mutta lapsen itsensä unileluksi haluama. Yksilöllinen elämänkumppani. Kelan unilelutempaus on sama kuin jos kaikki saman ikäluokan aikuiset joutuisivat nukkumaan sängyssään samannäköisen puolison kanssa.
