With Brent away at the cottage this week, Eric and John recap the action from the Atlanta Athletic Club where Nelly Korda put on a dominant performance to bring home her first major victory at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Nelly has been on absolute fire this year, also winning the previous week at the Meijer LPGA Classic. Her final score of -19 was only two strokes shy of tying the record score relative to par at a women's major championship. We also discuss a valiant effort put forth by Lizette Salas who was unable to match Nelly's play, but also separated herself from the pack, finishing in second place, 6 strokes clear of the third place finisher. And what would any major championship be without some controversy? The one knock against Salas' play was her pace, as she routinely took well over a minute to take her shot. While a slow play penalty was assessed in this tournament, it actually wasn't against Salas. After a great finish in Atlanta, we turn to a somewhat less exciting finish up in Cromwell, Connecticut where The Travelers Championship took EIGHT playoff holes to determine a winner. While this should has set up to be one of the most thrilling finishes, it ultimately fell completely flat as viewers watched Harris English (the eventual winner) and Kramer Hickok trade pars for over two hours. We wrap up the episode talking about the final qualifiers for the women's Olympic golf event and John takes us through his PIP moment of the week, which, unsurprisingly, is not PIP related at all. With Brent away on vacation this week, we are pleased to welcome back to the show as guest host Eric Patterson, Golf Editor at The Score. Eric helps us break down all of the excitement from week 1 of 2 at Muirfield Village at the inaugural - and possibly only? - Workday Charity Open. We discuss how impressive Collin Morikawa’s game really is, if there is any cause for concern with JT’s inability to close, as well as a few other notable stories from the week. We then shift focus to The Memorial and what is shaping up to play more and more like a major. Eric helps us preview the event by sharing a few picks and highlighting some players we’ll be watching out for out of an incredibly stacked field, including the return if the Big Cat himself, Tiger Woods.
