This week on A Podcast From Beneath Carey and William got together and talked about a TubiTv original "Hellblazers" a low-budget indie horror-comedy starring(and I use the term loosely) Tony Todd, Meg Foster, Bruce Dern, Adrienne Barbeau, and Billy Zane. Set in the late 1980s, a satanic cult has a singular focus of unleashing hell on Earth. With the help of an ancient incantation, they conjure a demon, and its members are tasked with feeding it the populous of a nearby small southwestern town. In the second half of the show, Carey shares his delight in revisiting some classics two of which star Gene Hackman "The French Connection, The Conversation, and the Robert Redford film "Three Days of the Condor. Carey talks about his love of the look of films that were filmed in the gritty setting of 70's New York. William recently watched "After Hours" Martin Scorsese 1985 film starring Griffen Dunne, and he relates to going out after hours in New York and having similar adventures. "The Avengers" no, not that one the 1906 British TV classic has always been a favorite of Williams, and he has been currently revisiting the Diana Rigg years of the show.
William recently rediscovered Superman after reading a series of articles on a website titled Superheroes Everyday, so we thought we would expand the genre from horror and talk about the greatest comic book movie ever made.
