A talk show starring just the two of us and our dog. We’re forcing family time on the couch in our small home that has a loud neighbor from time to time.
Well we finally got around to posting this. This was recorded on Lani's 6 month birthday which was 2 months ago. As with many, 2020 has looked different, but we chat about many of the same things we normally chat about: our dogs, movies, shows, and more.
Woah. A few things have happened and to our surprise we didn't prioritize recording a podcast episode for all of you during this pandemic. But, hey. Here we are! Warning: there is an extra bark in this episode.
Has it really it really been over 2 months?! We aren't good at being consistent with this thing. Is anyone even listening to us anymore? I guess we will see. Sitting down on our couch together felt good talking about our typical not so typical kinda topics.
This month has been chaotic, so we talk about what we have been up to that include: Disney Plus, downsizing to only one car, spending more time with God together, and a new apartment. 2020 we're ready for you!
Over two months ago we celebrated our 1 year! No one says marriage is easy, but we talk about the challenges and what we learned most about ourselves and each other. The jobs we're in have also made things difficult as we continue to figure things out. We need to spend more time consciously with each other, remembering who we are, and more time with God.
We're back! We are so excited to announce a new name, a new season, and a new intro! In this episode we talk about our favorite movies we have seen recently (spoiler: its The Grinch and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), our highs and lows of the week, and we laugh the whole way through it.
It's been a hot minute since we last recorded, but there was an emergency surgery, a wedding, and us celebrating our 1-year in Portland, Oregon. It felt good returning to the podcast to just talk while having a cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
We go from school assignments and geometry being not for all artists to church volunteering and an evening retreat with staff, elders, and the Holy Spirit. OH! ...and we're figuring out and establishing our new rhythms that include: being a ministry family, living with social media, and not spending enough time working on the practice vs always dreaming.
We're back from our week long summer vacation up at the family lake house! We kayak'd for the first time together, watched fireworks, and talked about spending time at the pool, summer vacations, and our favorite summer memories. WARNING: Episode starts with Lilo, our dog, drinking water (she loves her filtered water).
We were away for awhile. Woof. We wanted to tell you about Lilo, our dog. This is the story of Lilo that includes her chomping on water bottles, remembering the early days, things we love and know about her, and then we go through highs and lows.
Aside from the subtle, constant dishwasher running in the background we talk about our next home, cooking, Apple technology, allergies, poop and our highs and lows since last week.
It was a late night and Derek was really tired but that didn't stop us from recording and talking. We picked the topic of "past jobs" and rolled with it. We noticed, again, our age difference of six years and learned some new things about each other.
Our highs and lows from the week are back! We chat about minimalism and what we like / don't like, spending time with friends and family, going to our local Downtown Farmer's Market, getting rest and resting too much, and well Aly gets a little spicy talking about weddings. Spicy is good in our relationship.
Living in Iowa requires you to talk about the weather because it changes drastically from morning to afternoon to night. We only talk about this for a bit. We spend the most time talking about Red Vines vs Twizzlers, our grade school teachers, and how we promote Jesus with many sniffs and whines from our dog, Lilo.
We like to blog, so we talk about blogging, why we blog, and what we blog about. Filled with church expansion, being proud, and wanting to start something new.
A good amount of time talking about dancing and then we talk about homemaking, wanting vs not wanting a house for our next home, new vs "trashy" apartments, enneagrams, and more!
Second one in the books. This one had some pretty unique things: ear dominance, skin irritation, texting while driving, and Lilo, our dog, threatening the microphone. But, we got into a couple deep conversations like "coming of age" and goofiness in marriage.
It's the first one! (phew, WE DID IT!) Filled with drama, comedy (we laugh anyways), and mystery due to us not having a concept of how long we've been recording. We talk about God, dog farts and many things in between.
