Have you asked your dad, "What was becoming a dad REALLY like?"This episode we focus in on Terence and Eli. The guys talk about what is like to the support or "background" parent and how we can help dads more in those during the pregnancy, birth and first few days. This is the last of three episodes where we explore what we actually experienced during the first few days, weeks and months with our kids.Dads have a complicated relationship with their own stories of becoming parents, because for most of the first part we are background and support actors who are focused on the needs of their partner and child. This is a good thing, but it does mean that when it is time for a dad to work through their own story it can be hard to truly engage with their experiences. You can watch to this episode instead! On Friday, the 25th June 2021, the Afro may be no more. That's if YOU make sure that we make our R120 000 target as we raise funds for the Maletsatsi Foundation. This foundation provides care for many children who are currently in need of a place of safety, but more than that, they provide a family. Some of the children under their care are getting to the age when formal education is becoming a priority which is putting much pressure on an already stretched budget. So, here's what we are doing: From the 16th to the 25th June, we will be collecting donations for the foundation, and the more money we raise, the tougher challenges I will face during the live stream on the evening of the 25th.If we hit R120 000 at some point during those 10 days...the afro is going to go. Finding great content about fatherhood is really tough (that's one of the reasons I started AfroDaddy in the first place), but finding content about fatherhood that is funny, honest and not demeaning about dads is almost impossible. So stumbling across the Dumb Dad Podcast was a very happy event for me. These two comedians and stay-at-home-dads use short and smart videos on TikTok to show the true humour behind being a parent, and then talk through their dumbest dad moments on their weekly podcast. This was SUCH a fun interview - it shows that no matter what part of the world you're from, there are experiences that we all share in this dad life!I recommend watching their videos here, and listening to their podcast here. Please rate and review this podcast, and share it with your friends!Subscribe to Ask AfroDaddy:Apple Podcasts: bit.ly/AskAfroDaddyonApplePodcastsGoogle Podcasts: bit.ly/AskAfroDaddyonGooglePodcastsSpotify: bit.ly/AskAfroDaddyonSpotifyStitcher: bit.ly/AskAfroDaddyonStitcher

Men can be really stupid sometimes.Okay fine...a lot of the time. But honestly, one of the dumbest things we do is wait until things are REALLY bad before we get any medical help or treatment. This is obviously particularly bad during a pandemic like the one we're currently experiencing. Why do men do this, and more importantly, how do we encourage them to start caring for their health more proactively?
