Rob and Jonathan talk about their faith, their passion for discipleship, what's changed in student ministries over the years, and how they've learned to help students keep their faith even after they've entered the “real world.” We hope you enjoy this episode of Enjoying the Journey. Thank you for listening! “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see…. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Hebrews 11:1 & 6
(Philippians 3:15-21) Philippians 3 ends on a hopeful note. When Christ has His proper place in the home, everything else will be in the right place. Invite Him into your home every day. He alone is our hope and the reason our families have hope for the future! (06156220701)
(Philippians 3:8-14) Much of what families pursue today is good, but not best. Paul had dedicated his life to God, pursued higher education, and accomplished much, yet he counted all this as “dung” compared to the value of pursuing Christ. Our homes will be truly Christian when Christ becomes our greatest pursuit! (06155220630)
(Philippians 3:4-7) The apostle Paul had the equivalent of three PhD's, and yet he said he counted it all as loss. When we put our confidence in the other members of our family to be all that we need or seek, we will always be disappointed, regardless of how much they have to offer. Only Christ is worthy of our total confidence. (06154220629)
(Philippians 3:1-3) It may be possible to have a happy home without Christ because happiness comes from what happens outside of us. But joy comes from within, and true joy can only be found in Christ. As we learn of Christ, our Joy, we will see how truth, warnings, and worship all play a part in a joy-filled home. (06153220628)
(Philippians 3:1, 21) The essence of a Christian home is the presence of Christ. A home may be moral or religious or even somewhat sterile due to an abundance of rules, but without Christ it is not a Christian home. In our next few broadcasts, we'll study Christ and seek to give Him the preeminence in our homes. (06152220627)
(John 20:1-10, 24-31) The truth of the Resurrection of Jesus is not just for some of the people, some of the time. It is for all people all of the time. Join Scott Pauley for the first of six messages given around Easter from John 20. Let us reflect at all times upon all that our Savior has done for us. (06151220625)
(Philippians 2:17-30) Take a look at yourself – are you willing to sacrifice? Are you willing to serve? Are you willing to supply the needs of those around you? The men Paul speaks of in Philippians chapter 2 had embraced the mind of Christ and were demonstrating it in these ways. So can we! (06150220624)
(Philippians 2:3-8) True peace, joy, and beauty come to our homes when we learn to think like Christ and therefore begin to live like Christ. In today's broadcast our study will reveal that His mind is one of charity and unity, as well as humility and responsibility. What will it look like to begin developing the mind of Christ in your family? (06149220623)
(Philippians 2:1-2) Having the mind of Christ in our families will result in charity and unity. As we begin to dive into Philippians chapter 2, we discover that the mind of Christ is more relational than informational, more related to the heart than the intellect. As we learn to think like Christ, our actions will begin to look like Christ! (06148220622)
(Philippians 1:9-11) Often, we go through a list of names when we pray for our family, but today we will consider a list of needs about which to pray. Following the pattern displayed in Philippians 1:9-11 we will learn to ask God for growth – in four different directions! (06147220621)
(Philippians 1:9-11) We live in the “more generation.” It seems everyone wants more house, more money, more vacation time, and even more than all of that. But what would the prayer list for your family reveal that you want more of? Let's cease to be satisfied with where we are spiritually and ask God to make us abound more and more! (06146220620)
(Hebrews 11:1-22) Families are known by what they stand for. More importantly, families are known for what they stand on. Abraham built his family upon a foundation of faith in God. What will your family be built upon? Join Scott Pauley as he brings this second message from Hebrews 11. (06145220618)
(Philippians 1:7, 12, 17) What do you think is the greatest enemy in the Christian life? You'll have to listen to the broadcast today to find out! Don't worry – you're also going to learn what weapon can defeat this enemy. And we'll discover the weapon about which Jesus said not even the gates of Hell would prevail against! Let's prepare your family for spiritual battle! (06144220617)
(Philippians 1:2-6) When we look inside a Christian home, we should see family members thanking God for one another, praying for one another, sharing their gospel testimony with one another, and talking to one another about spiritual things. Today we'll look more closely at what it means to have a home with “fellowship in the gospel.” (06143220616)
(Philippians 1:27) What does it look like to have joy in your heart and home? What does it look like to build a household of faith? Both begin with the Gospel. Today we'll learn from Philippians what it means to have a “Gospel Family.” (06142220615)
(Philippians 1:1-5) When teaching and preaching on the family, the most commonly used books of the Bible are probably Ephesians and Colossians. But right between these two is the small book of Philippians. It doesn't directly mention the home, yet it is full principles that will bring joy to any home. Let's ask God to do a great work in our homes! (06141220614)
(Acts 16:9-33) In our first Enjoying the Journey series, we studied the book of Philippians. Over the next few weeks, we will study this book again and explore how it applies to families. Let's begin with a “road trip to Philippi" where we'll see Lydia and her family. (06140220613)
For nearly 20 years, Scott Pauley served with Pastor Clarence Sexton at Crown College and Temple Baptist Church. This is a classic message by Pastor Sexton from Exodus 14. This message was recorded in 2003.
(John 19:30) When Jesus cried, “It is finished,” all of Heaven heard it and rejoiced. All of Hell heard it and trembled. All of earth must hear it and believe. This final word of Jesus on the cross is a cry of the Conqueror, a cry of completion, and a cry of commencement. Let's discover why in today's broadcast. (06138220610)
(John 19:30) When Jesus cried from the cross, “It is finished,” He was literally saying “Paid in full!” The debt of sin has been canceled. There is no further work required to pay the price of salvation. Jesus paid it all! Trust Him today! (06137220609)
(Luke 23:43) One word from Jesus changes everything! In our final look at Jesus' use of the word “today,” we find that it is a word of great expectancy. It speaks to us about God and His present work, about our lives and fleeting opportunities, and about our eternity, which is greater than we can imagine if we turn to Christ by faith. (06136220608)
(Luke 23:39-43) “Today” is a word of expediency, as well as opportunity. God has given each of us an opportunity to make the most of today. In this study we will consider right priorities as we again look to Jesus on His most difficult day. (06135220607)
(Luke 23:32-33, 39-43) When the thief on the cross cried out to Jesus to save him, our Lord promised that he would be with Him in Paradise that very day. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, but we have been given today. Friend, I urge you to trust Christ, return to God, or begin the task God has laid on your heart…today! (06134220606)
(Hebrews 11:8-22) Families are known by what they stand for. More importantly, families are known for what they stand on. Abraham built his family upon a foundation of faith in God. What will your family be built upon? Join Scott Pauley as he brings this second message from Hebrews 11. (06133220604)
(Luke 23:46) Some people live their whole lives letting their hurts define and detour them. How much better it would be to trust every circumstance and situation to the loving hands of God, as we see Jesus doing on the cross. His final recorded words demonstrate His complete confidence in the Father. (06132220603)
(Matthew 27:46) Consider that even Jesus, in His darkest hour, cried out to God, “Why?” When you find yourself enduring dark days or feeling distant from the Lord, bring all your emotion, hurt, and brokenness to God. And remember that He is at work. The greatest transaction that ever took place happened in the dark when it seemed that Heaven was silent. (06131220602)
(Matthew 27:46) Both the darkest and final moment of Jesus' life are examined in our study today. When Jesus fulfilled the “why” of His coming, when He suffered in a moment the eternal Hell we deserved, when he was separated from His Father – only then could we receive the “what” God had in store for us all along. (06130220601)
(Luke 23:34) Our Lord's forgiveness is immediate and perpetual. It restored the thief on the cross, and to this day remains powerful and available. Walk by Calvary again and listen to Jesus say you're forgiven. Be inspired to share that wonderful message with someone along your path who is yet bearing the weight of their sins alone. (06129220531)
(Luke 23:34) This cry from the cross is not only a prayer, but also a pardon. If anyone had a reason to bring judgment, it was our Lord. Yet He cries, “Father, forgive them!” Today we'll grow in our understanding of forgiveness and be challenged to forgive like Jesus. (06128220530)
(Hebrews 11:7) We live in extraordinary times. We are closer now to the return of Christ than we may even realize. So, What can we learn from the life of Noah? Join Scott Pauley in Hebrews 11 as he preaches about the difference one obedient family can make in hard times. (06127220528)
(Luke 23:32-37) If you're dealing with some difficulty today, you can learn to do what our Lord did. Pray! Sometimes Jesus prayed in the peaceful quietness of a garden, but today we listen to Him pray at Calvary. We find Him in the hardest place, on the hardest day, praying for the hardest people. That means something for you and me! (06126220527)
(John 19:25-29) Have you ever wondered what Jesus' voice sounds like? Although we cannot hear it with our ears today, every cry we hear Him utter from the cross teaches us about our Lord's heart. His humility is heard in the words we'll study today. (06125220526)
(John 19:25-29) As we listen to the first cry of Jesus from the cross, we are reminded of his humanity. We see His love for His mother, His physical thirst, His pain. There is great hope in knowing that whatever we are going through, He understands. He has experienced what we experience, and He cares. Trust Him to see you through! (06124220525)
(John 19:1-9) The cries we hear first near the cross of Christ were not from Jesus Himself. Pilate's bewildered “I find no fault in Him,” the Jews angry “Crucify Him!” the Roman soldiers' mockery… yet Jesus silently suffers in humility and surrender to the will of His Father. What love is displayed in the silence of Jesus! (06123220524)
(John 7:46) How powerful it is to hear a person's last words! They carry unique significance. As we begin a study of the words spoken by Jesus at the end of His life on earth, we will consider the final words of several famous individuals. What will these statements reveal about Heaven, Hell, peace, and hope? (06122220523)
(Matthew 9, 12) This Bible message was given by Pastor Johnny Pope at the Southwide Baptist Fellowship Meeting on October 13, 2021. (06121220521)
(Psalm 119:176) With God, endings are always new beginnings. We've come to the end of Psalm 119 and so many of us are prone to wander. Let us remember His commandments and renew our commitment to spend time in God's Word every day. It truly is all you need! (06120220520)
(Psalm 119:169-176) God not only wants you to hear His Word - He wants you to repeat it. He not only wants you to receive His Word - He wants you to relay it. In this broadcast we will discover three verbal responses from us to God's Words. (06119220519)
(Psalm 119:161-168) Today's section offers a summary of every good thing we find in God's Word, and together we will make a list of them. But what good is it if we only talk about the good things found in God's Word? What are we going to do about it? God's Word will keep us – will we keep it? (06118220518)
(Psalm 119:153-160) As a key opens a door, so a keyword can open our understanding of a portion of Scripture. Such is the case in our study today. The section emphasizes both who is against us and Who is for us. Let's spend a few minutes together considering our affliction, our affection, and God's attention. (06117220517)
(Psalm 119:145-152) Where should we turn our attention when we feel like crying? God's Word teaches that we can bring our emotion, feelings, and desperation to the Lord, and His Truth never changes. Even when we're crying, we can find an anchor in God's Word. (06116220516)
(Mark 16:7-20) Many believers have the idea that only missionaries are to go out and give the gospel. However, Jesus gave all believers the command go with the gospel. The place? Wherever God has put you! Join Scott Pauley as he brings this message from Mark 16. (06115220514)
(Psalm 119:137-144) Zeal can reveal! It can also be misplaced or grow cold. Unless we are careful to root our zeal in God's righteousness, it can lead us away from what matters. What else will we learn about zeal in today's study of God's Word? (06114220513)
(Psalm 119:129-136) So often we seek God's hand, but not His face. We look for something from Him but fail to truly seek Him. When our eyes view God's face, we find that it shines, smiles, and speaks to us. Let's investigate another portion of Psalm 119 and remember to seek God's face. (06113220512)
(Psalm 119:121-128) In a world of injustice, we may resist the thought of being a servant. But when your Master is perfect, there's no better relationship to have. You can take your eyes off those who would oppress you and draw confidence, mercy, and instruction from your wonderful and perfect Master. Today we dive into the gift of servanthood. (06112220511)
