how is the gracious help of the Spirit manifested? Thus: seeing the Christian bowed down by oppression and depression, His compassion is called forth, and He strengthens with His might in the inner man. Every Christian is a living witness to the truth of this, though he may not be conscious of the divine process. Why is it, my afflicted brother, my distressed sister, that you have not made shipwreck of your profession long ere this?

Last weekend was filled with terrible news, including a mass shooting in Australia, another at Brown University, and the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife. Mike Erre joins Phil and Skye to discuss these events and why rediscovering the biblical practice of lament is better than just "thoughts and prayers." The Catholic Church has taken a nuanced and principled position on the deportation of immigrants. Why do evangelicals find that so difficult? Then John Ortberg talks with Skye about his latest book, which applies the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous to Christian spiritual formation. It's called "Steps: A guide to transforming your life when willpower isn't enough." Also this week, the U.K. is building a giant Möbius strip for God. What Is a Disciple? Discipleship is more than a label or a moment of salvation—it's a lifelong commitment to learning and following Jesus. Rooted in both Scripture and ancient practice, a disciple is a learner who follows a master's teaching and way of life. Jesus' Great Commission calls believers to actively make disciples by going, baptizing, teaching, and mentoring others. Every Christian is invited to grow in Christ and help others do the same. Offense is a growth opportunity. How will you respond when another Christian hurts you? Will you become offended and bitter? Will you ignore them and refuse to talk with them? Will you leave the church in an attempt to find a better one? Or, will you allow the experience to become a tool that helps you grow spiritually? Main Points:1. Every Christian is in process. We are not who we used to be, but we are not yet what we will be in Christ. We are learning and we are growing, but we are not yet perfect. Sometimes we make mistakes, we react, we get frustrated, and we say things we shouldn't.2. We can't use our imperfections as an excuse. We have to own our behavior, ask God for forgiveness, ask others for their forgiveness and seek to reconcile. The mistakes then become an opportunity for our spiritual growth.3. No one is immune to the challenges that come from relationships, even those among believers. We will all face them. Yet, there is so much growth that can occur in our character as we continue to love, pray, forgive, and sometimes confront.Today's Scripture Verses:Luke 6:28 - “bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Ephesians 4:32 - “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”Proverbs 19:11 - “A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
The Place Persecution Cannot ReachIn today's homily, Fr. Tyler reflects on a truth revealed by the Vietnamese Martyrs—117 canonized, more than 300,000 known to God alone—who witnessed with their blood that no earthly power can touch the deepest sanctuary of the human person: the heart. Persecution may imprison the body, silence the voice, or press upon the mind, but it cannot force the interior surrender of one's freedom. As the Catechism teaches, the heart is “the seat of moral decision,” the place where we choose for or against God.Saint Andrew Dũng-Lạc and his companions lived this truth heroically. Arrested, tortured, ransomed, and arrested again, they remained interiorly free—joyful even—because their choice for Christ was rooted in the depths no chains could reach. Their witness echoes that of the Apostles singing hymns in prison, and above all, Christ Himself on the Cross. From His place of suffering, Jesus freely offered His life: “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18). His heart remained sovereign, forgiving His persecutors, entrusting Himself to the Father, and rising in glory.Fr. Tyler reminds us that persecution in our own age may be subtler—cultural pressures, moral confusion, spiritual weariness—but the battleground is the same. Nothing in this world, no government, movement, or ideology, can make the choice of our heart for us. Every Christian must decide: Will I choose Christ today, especially when the cross becomes heavy? The Vietnamese martyrs, the Apostles, and the Lord Himself show that true freedom is found in fidelity, even in suffering. As the liturgical year draws to its close, the Gospel calls us to stay awake, to guard that sacred interior ground where God speaks and where love chooses Him in return.May we, like the martyrs, give Christ our “yes” anew today, remaining faithful until the end when He leads us through death into eternal life.#marian #marians #marianfathers #marianhelpers #divinemercy #thedivinemercy #catholic #catholicism #romancatholic #romancatholicism#frtyler #vietnameseMartyrs #saintandrewdunglac #martyrdom #persecution #catholichomily #saintoftheday #choosechrist #catholictiktok ★ Support this podcast ★
As we near the end of 2025, this message reflects on our calling as as the Church to build bridges, share the gospel, and live lives that point people to Jesus. Who in heaven will be thankful you did so?
Did you know that everyone that is a Christian is a minister? Confused? Listen as Pastor Newland shares from Ephesians 4 and talks about people in the church working together to build up the church.
In this tender, emotional episode, Bob and Linda open up about a simple idea that completely reframed how they parent: the "$50,000 Moment." It started with a story Bob read — one so moving he couldn't finish it without crying — about a dad who imagined paying $50,000 to relive a single bedtime with his 10-year-old. That thought experiment changed him, and now it's changing the Lotich household too. If you're a parent (or even if you aren't), this episode will recalibrate how you see the people in your life and remind you of the beauty tucked into ordinary days. In This Episode: The story that made Bob stop checking the clock at bedtime Why we forget the voices of our kids at different ages The biblical wisdom behind remembering the brevity of life How to recognize "$50,000 moments" in real time Why presence is a discipleship practice—not a personality trait What Jesus and Mr. Rogers both modeled about "holy slowness" How this principle applies to more than kids A tender story about Bob's uncle and what it taught him about presence Scripture Mentioned (NLT): Psalm 90:12 — "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom." Key Takeaways: You won't realize the value of a moment until it's gone. Bob shares how he can no longer remember what his now-11-year-old sounded like as a six-year-old—and how that realization hit him like a ton of bricks. Future you would pay anything to get today back. The "time-machine thought experiment" reframes bedtime, routines, and interruptions as priceless opportunities. Presence is a form of love—and discipleship. Looking at the way Jesus interacted with people, we see an invitation to slow down and be with those around us. This isn't just about kids. Parents, friends, coworkers, church community members—none of us are guaranteed another moment together. You don't have to create regrets. You can create reminders. Bob calls them $50,000 moments—a cue to pause, breathe, and fully engage. Practical Ways to Apply This: Ask yourself during ordinary moments: "If I had to pay to relive this, how much would I spend?" During bedtime or stressful transitions, picture your 80-year-old self watching. Treat others—kids, friends, the barista, the bus driver—as people God placed in your path today. Practice the "Fred Rogers pause": give full attention to whoever is in front of you. Every Christian husband wants to be a good leader, protector, and provider for his family. Yet too often, we confuse biblical husband roles with cultural expectations or personal control. The Bible doesn't define manhood by dominance, income, or authority—it defines it by love, humility, and sacrifice. When we look closely at Scripture, we find that biblical husband roles are not about power but purpose. They call men to reflect Christ—to serve rather than demand, to build up rather than tear down, and to lead through love rather than fear. Sadly, many men drift from this calling. Pride, exhaustion, and misplaced priorities can quietly corrode a marriage. These are not small mistakes—they're cracks in the foundation that can grow into fractures over time. Today, we'll explore five common mistakes that destroy Christian marriages and how rediscovering biblical husband roles can restore strength, trust, and intimacy in your relationship. 1. Confusing Leadership with Control One of the most misunderstood biblical husband roles is leadership. Too many men confuse leadership with control. Leadership, in God's design, is never about dominance. Jesus Himself said, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). A biblical husband leads […] The post The Call to Biblical Husband Roles appeared first on UNCOMMEN.

You probably know that as people get older, they tend to lose their filters. They just say things that might not have said when they were younger. It just comes out. Sometimes old people think they have earned the right to let loose. But here's the deal: If, when you look inside, you see you in you, then what comes out in those “unguarded moments” is probably going to be pretty ugly. If, on the other hand, you look inside and you see Christ in you … then I don't care if you lose your filters, because what comes out is going to be God-honoring. And here it is guys, I can put up with babies who act like babies. But when old guys like me still act like babies, that's intolerable. I know, I'll be battling with my “self” till the day I die. And I suspect most all of you will be battling your “self” till the day you die. But I hope we spend most of our time at a level 3 maturity, with occasional forays into level 4, with very, very little time at levels 1 or 2. Do you get that? Life truth #3: Christian maturity is a choice we make, every day till the day we die, not a state we achieve. So where are you? How are you doing?
Most Christians misunderstand apologetics. They think it's arguing, intellectual snobbery, or something only “elite Christians” do. But Voddie Baucham said it best:“If you think apologetics doesn't work, you don't know apologetics — and you don't know me.”This episode breaks down what apologetics actually is:
Pastor Rob Byker joins us with a message from Matthew 6:13 and 1 Corinthians 10:12-13, titled “Lead Us Not Into Temptation." Every Christian faces three powerful foes: the world, the flesh and the devil. Each one seeks to draw us away from God's will, yet Jesus calls us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. On our own we are not strong enough to resist temptation, but God gives the strength we need to stay faithful. As Paul reminds us, “He is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
Every Christian is blessed by God to be a member of a local church. And with this privilege comes the responsibility to be a responsible member of the church. Being entrusted with the keys of the Kingdom of God each member is to fulfil various responsibilities with reference to the what, the who, and the how of the gospel. We consider the text under the following headings. 1. Jesus' Confrontation (vv. 13–16) 2. Jesus' Affirmation (vv. 17–18) 3. Jesus' Assignment (v. 19)

In this episode of the C-Suite for Christ Podcast, we're declaring war on the counterfeit religions of Communism and Antifa. A spiritual war is raging for the soul of our nation, fought not with tanks, but with ideologies that have a single mission: to dethrone God.This episode pulls back the mask on two of the enemy's most effective weapons: Communism and Antifa. These aren't just political theories; they are counterfeit religions, preaching a gospel of rebellion, envy, and chaos. From Marx's blood-soaked history to the modern-day riots in our streets, the same serpent is at work, promising utopia while delivering tyranny. We're here to arm you with the truth. To expose the lies disguised as "social justice" and "equity." And to call the church to stop whispering while the world burns.Buckle up. This isn't a political debate; it's spiritual warfare."For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." – Ephesians 6:12Episode Highlights:32:17 - You can't legislate love or redistribute righteousness. Only Christ can do that. Communism enslaves people economically. Antifa enslaves them emotionally. One binds the body, the other binds the mind. Both promise liberation and deliver slavery.43:16 - Antifa's tactics don't end with the riots of 2020. They've evolved. The group learned that you don't need to burn cities when you can burn reputations. Cancel Culture is Antifa's digital weapon. Social pressure is its firebomb. Today they don't wear masks in March; they wear HR badges and moderate your social media.54:23 - Silence in the face of evil is not neutrality, it's surrender. Speaking truth in love is not hate speech, it's hope speech. The most loving thing you can do for someone lost in deception is to tell them the truth.Connect with Paul M. NeubergerWebsite

Send us a textDating doesn't have to feel like a guessing game. We break down five clear red flags every Christian should watch for and show how trusting God, not the crowd, changes who you choose and how you choose. From spiritual alignment to character under pressure, we pull back the curtain on the patterns that predict a healthy marriage—or a painful one.We start with the heart of it all: if someone pulls you away from God, isolates you from church, or mocks spiritual disciplines, that's not love. Then we zoom into teachability and accountability—because an uncorrectable person becomes unleadable when life gets hard. We tackle dishonesty and secrecy, the silent killers that cloud conversations and erode peace. You'll hear why watching how a date treats servers, coworkers, and family reveals who they are when no one's grading their performance. And we unpack the cost of a partner with no vision or direction, plus how mismatched goals, theology, and values create constant friction.Along the way, we challenge the myth that romance equals readiness. Infatuation is effortless; mature love is built on aligned values, shared purpose, and honest dialogue. So we trade surface talk for deeper questions: money habits, family history, conflict style, faith convictions, and life vision. We also invite community into the process—mentors, pastors, and trusted friends who can spot the warning signs you might miss. To close, we share five practical discernment keys: pray before you play, ask trusted voices, observe not excuse, look for fruit, and follow the Holy Spirit's peace. If you're single, this is a guide to date with clarity and courage. If you're advising someone you love, it's a toolkit for wise counsel. Every Christian wrestles with temptation, but the Bible outlines a clear plan for victory.By submitting to God, fleeing from sin, and choosing holiness daily, we can live in freedom and strength. In this episode, Pastor Jeff and Tiffany explore why we face temptation and how believers can overcome it. They unpack practical steps from Scripture to stay steadfast in faith and restore fellowship with God when we fall short. What We Discussed[00:00] Introduction: Spiritual Victory and TemptationPastor Jeff and Tiffany continue their series on practical theology, turning to the topic of temptation and how believers can live in victory through Christ.[01:18] The Story of José RiveraPastor Jeff shares a humorous story originally told by Ravi Zacharias that illustrates how easily temptation can win when we give in to selfish desires.[04:30] What Is Temptation?Temptation is the invitation to act against God's will. It can come from the sin nature within us, from Satan, or from the world around us.[05:19] Step 1: Decide Not to YieldVictory begins with a firm choice to resist. James 4:7 reminds us to “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”[06:33] Step 2: Submit to God ImmediatelyThe first move in any moment of temptation is to surrender control to God. Submission gives Him command of our hearts and strength to resist.[07:21] Step 3: Resist in God's StrengthWe cannot fight temptation in our own power. We must rely on God's strength and, when possible, remove ourselves from the situation, just as Joseph fled from Potiphar's wife in Genesis 39.[08:16] Step 4: Do the Holy AlternativeInstead of focusing only on what to avoid, believers are called to do the holy alternative, to obey God and walk in His will.[10:16] Step 5: Avoid What Tempts YouPaul's words in 2 Corinthians 6:17 call believers to “come out from among them and be separate.” Avoid people, places, and influences that stir temptation.[13:00] Step 6: Deal with Sin ImmediatelyWhen we fall, we must confess and repent quickly. Sin breaks fellowship with God, but confession restores intimacy and peace.[14:04] What Happens When Fellowship BreaksSin doesn't destroy salvation, but it creates a barrier in our relationship with God. Like conflict in a family, the bond remains, but the closeness is lost until forgiveness is sought.[16:00] Restoring Fellowship through RepentanceRepentance is turning 180 degrees back toward God. 1 John 1:9 assures us that when we confess, He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us. Even after failure, repentance brings victory.[17:37] The Real VictoryNo victory over temptation is permanent in this life, but every defeat can become victory when it leads us back to repentance and renewal in Christ.“Defeat can become victory when repentance leads us back to God.” – Pastor Jeff CranstonWe love your feedback! Who told you what it means to be a man? Culture shouts that your worth comes from money, women, and status—but God says something entirely different. In this episode, we break down Psalm 1 to uncover the biggest lies men are told about identity and where true value is actually found. If you've ever wrestled with who you are, this conversation will show you the difference between being defined by the world and being rooted in God's Word. Want to put this into practice?
