A native of Red Lodge, Montana, Brayli Reimer just finished her junior season with the Polars, scoring her 1000thcareer point and finishing the year with a school record 448 assists. Reimer helped guide Crown on an improbable run to the 2026 NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship, as the Polars won four games in four days, defeating the top three seeds in the tournament on the way to the program's first NCCAA championship. For her hard work, Reimer was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, while also earning NCCAA Second Team All-American and Scholar-Athlete honors this season. In this episode, Reimer discusses her unique path to Crown College, her team overcoming a long losing streak and an injury before the North Regional Championship, and her experience playing in the NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship.
Send us Fan MailThe radar gun is loud, but it is not the whole story. I sit down with Crown College recruiting coordinator and pitching coach Ryan Vondracek, a former undersized high school lefty who barely touched 80 and still carved out a standout college pitching career. If you coach or play in a world obsessed with velocity, this conversation is a reset that brings the focus back to pitchability, conviction, and a plan you can actually execute on the mound. We get practical on what helps “non-gas” pitchers succeed: building a repeatable routine, getting ahead in counts, throwing multiple pitches for strikes, and learning how to work off misses. Ryan also shares how nutrition, recovery, and training helped him add meaningful velo over time, plus why he hates the radar gun in many bullpen settings because it can create tension and wreck fluidity. Along the way we talk modern player development and recruiting, including what he looks for at Crown College and why mental toughness can be a better predictor than a single number. Then the story goes deeper. Ryan opens up about early-life adversity, long years of therapy, and how faith, self-talk, and the people in your circle shape confidence under pressure. If you are a high school pitcher, a parent, or a baseball coach trying to guide players through the transfer portal era and the velocity race, you will leave with clear coaching cues and a bigger perspective on what “development” really means. Subscribe, share this with a coach who needs it, and leave a review so more players hear that there is more than one path to college baseball.Support the showFollow: X | Instagram @Athlete1Podcast Website - https://www.athlete1.netSponsor: The Netting Professionalshttps://www.nettingpros.com

Kendall Qualls and TakeChargeMN: Making Black Lives Better! It's been a few years since Kendall Qualls was in the studio, so it was great to have him back again. Kendall is the Founder and President of TakeChargeMN, a nonprofit described as "a Coalition supporting Blacks in the pursuit of American core principles". Their foundational approach includes fostering free enterprise, education, faith and family life in the Black community. All of the values that have historically made America the destination of many from around the globe who aspire to achieve their dreams. Kendall started out in dire poverty as a child, yet over time was able to rise above it and accomplish some remarkable things. From being a Military officer, to a C-level leader for several Fortune 100 companies, to a professor at Crown College, Kendall has a background that affords him a wide area of subject matter expertise. As a black man, he has had his share of discrimination and setbacks over the years, but does not believe our country is racist. Rather he believes that America still provides the best opportunities in the world for anyone, regardless of color, and that Black Americans just need the right support, resources and encouragement to succeed, with the nuclear family at its core. Statistically, two parent black households have been on the decline since the 1960's and now comprise just 20% of Black households. He began his coaching career at Starters Sports Training and went on to coach at St Cloud State University, Tread Athletics and is currently a pitching instructor at Mash Baseball and a volunteer pitching coach at North Central University. In this episode we discuss the importance of allowing athletes to explore and find their own movement solutions, rather than focusing on perfect mechanics. Tanner also discusses how his coaching approach aligns with ecological dynamics and the Constraint Led Approach. He highlights the value of incorporating real game-like situations, such as facing live batters, into training sessions. We discuss how coaches can use biomechanics to guide an athletes search process to find more functional movement solutions. The conversation also explores the balance between exploration and consistency in training, as well as the role of constraints in pitching practice. According to the Pew Research Center, about half of Americans believe that God determines what happens to them most or all of the time. Nearly eight-in-ten US adults think God or a higher power has protected them, and two-thirds of Americans say they have been rewarded by the Almighty. For us as athletes, we have to ask ourselves if we believe that God has put us where we are right now for a particular purpose. God does give us opportunities as athletes to use our talents and abilities, and more importantly puts us into positions to share the Gospel by our words and actions. Brand new head baseball coach at Crown College and former professional baseball player Colt Sedbrook joins us today to discuss his background as a coach, professional athlete, and collegiate athlete. We also go in depth on taking advantage of the opportunities that God puts in front of us and what it takes to use those chances to best serve those around us.
