The Movie Bracket Podcast! Kino Klash is a single-elimination tournament where our four hosts pit their favorite movies up against each other. Featuring sixty-four films, supplied by four uniquely different palettes, matchups span a wide array of films: from 1 seed "1917" v. 16 seed "Black Swan," to 5 seed "Steve Jobs" v. 12 seed "Speed Racer." Join Ryan, Alex, Brenden, and Kyle, as they clown around and discuss their favorite movies in some truly bizarre matchups, culminating with a vote to determine which movie advances in the bracket.

"Wrestler! Distract Kang!" - The Whale, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2024).

Kyle moves but Alex's audio gets worse?! Only at Kino Klash can the impossible become possible! Today, we pit Sam Raimi's Horror-Slapstick tour-de-force, Evil Dead 2, up against J.C. Chandor's (of Kraven fame) A Most Violent Year.
"Pain makes me grow. Growing is what I want. Therefore, for me pain is pleasure. " - Arnold Schwarzenegger
MERRY CHRISTMAS KLASHERS! Another year is in the books and us here at Kino Klash HQ are celebrating the only way we know how: Bracket Based Movie Competitions! Also, Kyle is blind for this episode. Movies: Gremlins, Eyes Wide Shut, Karate Christmas Miracle (Nasty), The Holdovers.
Jackie Chan is BACK in the mix on Kino Klash. And Kino Klash is back recording (mostly) in one room! Apologies! Audio is a little mid here! Ryan's pick, Sexy Beast, is up against Brenden's pick, Police Story!
Hey Klasher's, get ready to go down the rabbit hole because this one's a Blowout!
"Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say 'My tooth is aching' than to say 'My heart is broken.'" - C.S. Lewis
Hey! Bit of a weird one here today! Kyle and Brenden try their best to talk about Friends but pretty quickly devolve into a funeral dirge for the multi-cam sitcom once they realize Ryan's not there to redirect them. Enjoy if you dare!
Klassic Klash! Brenden's gay wedding film is up against Alex's Oscar winning piece of class warfare!
"When you compare the sorrows of real life to the pleasures of the imaginary one, you will never want to live again, only to dream forever." - Alexandre Dumas

This was a weird one... Kyle's number 9 pick, It's Such a Beautiful Day, brawls it out with Brenden's number 8, What's Up Doc.
The battle of high concept sci-fi films! Alex's pick, Arrival, attempts to decode the confusing language of Brenden's pick, Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion. Who could predict the outcome of this one? Does it even matter? Does anything?
Ho-Ho-Ho! Merry Christmas in July! We're at the halfway mark of the year and it never hurts to celebrate! We definitely didn't forget to post this 7 months ago and then had to sit on it until the first semi appropriate time to release it. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
"I don't believe there is pleasure in life. I believe there is only relief of pain… We have to suffer to be on top." - Georges St. Pierre
Klashers, this episode is filled to the brim with English pride. No one here is English, but boy do they make a good picture! We've got Alex bringing out the big guns with "Casino Royale" playing a high-stakes game against Kyle's maritime masterpiece "Master and Commander: Far Side of the World."
WELCOME TO THE NASTY STASH... It's time we got gross here and started watching some real Bad movies (besides the ones Kyle already picked). In this episode we go through our respective bad movie lists and pick our first batch of 3! (expect these to be posted on off weeks) GET NASTY, KLASHERS
What more is there to say? This is is the WWII episode to end all WWII episodes! A pitched match between bitter rivals!
In another cursed match-up, we have What We Do in the Shadows (Ryan's #10) bearing its fangs at Do the Right Thing (Kyle's #7). Not a ton of common ground here between these two movies, but you better believe we tried our best! Also... YOP! Alert! CrAcK open your favorite flavor of Yoplait's famous Yop! drink and SLURRRP it up!
Here we go Klashers! Our first 1 v. 16 match-up! We've got Kyle's strange trip down depression-era child murder up against Brenden's struggle of youth creativity - I'll let you guess which is which ;) Also Kyle and Alex are sharing a tin-can-on-a-string for this episode. Yay.
Who'd win in a fight? Jackie Chan or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? These are the hard hitting questions we like to ask here at Kino Klash HQ. To find the answer we pit Ryan's No. 2 pick, Amadeus, against Brenden's No. 15 seed, Dragon's Forever.
Truly the Ali v. Foreman of match ups here at Kino Klash. Who could ever imagine Satoshi Kon's brilliant, visionary "Paprika" (Ryan's pick) duking it out against everyone's favorite Star Wars movie - the seventh one (Alex's pick).
If anyone is curious - Mad Max is up against the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Not the other Life Aquatic.

This episode has nothing to do with Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
A winner will be decided. Gang, We got tired. We tried - we really did. We shortened episodes. Tried to make it so we didn't have to rewatch movies. Bought a bar! But we just couldn't get our hearts into it. So in one last grand explosion, we just went for it. Episode 44 is the finale of Kino Klash season 1. On a more genuine note for anyone who reads these, it really does mean a lot to us (probably not Alex) that anyone listen to these. We're really proud of what we've been able to do, and have had a tremendous time doing it. See you in the next season!
5 seed Inside v. 14 seed City of God Should be v. The Sisters Brothers but everyone is a coward. SMH

11 seed Leon: The Professional v. 14 seed In Bruges Still in the Bar and still having a great time!
1 seed 1917 v. 8 seed Citizen Kane A VERY rare Kyle v. Kyle matchup. But more importantly, with all the proceeds we've made from the podcast (which is to say, a lot) the four of us got together and founded the Kino Klash Bar (a working title). Now it's not the easiest place to find, but all of our true fans got there in no time. Looking at you Chris Nolan!
1 seed Inception v. 9 seed Donnie Darko Listeners, I acted poorly in this episode. I value you your time and experience. Please forgive me. . . . . . . . . . . . . . psyche
7 seed Alien v. 15 seed Good Time In hindsight, perhaps we were a bit premature in our last description...
Weeeeerrrrrrrreeeee Baaaaaaaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkk We been lazy but got quite a back log for ya! And let me be the first to say the Round of 32 is off to an interesting start. We pin Ryan's 12 seed up against Brendans 13 seed.
With the round of 64 concluded, we take a stroll down memory lane and look back at how far we've come. We talk about how our records have shaken out, how we've faired against each other, our most watched directors, and so much more. Thank to Letterboxd, who's certainly not a sponsor (although it'd be pretty cool if they were) for providing us the majority of these statistics under their Letterboxd Pro Membership.
In our final match up of the round of 64 we pit Ryan's 8 seed Magnolia up against Kyle's 9 seed Paddington 2.
