Three drafts, three very different guests. Dan, an actuary with three kids who refuses to howl under any circumstances. Krutches, a best ball grinder who shares his takes on a ton of different players. And, finally Curt Rambus , the exterminator from So You Think You Can Tout who joins from his phone because the $200 Chromebook Pete bought him is still in the box, and spends the Eliminator draft asking Pete to click buttons for him while negotiating his content creator going rate. Bringing The Darkness To The Light with Catherine Nadal From Operation Babylift to Rock Stages: Guest, Tyson Leslie on Vixen, Collaboration, Nashville, and a Life in Music Catherine Nadal Opens Bringing the Darkness to the Light In this episode of Bringing the Darkness to the Light, host Catherine Nadal welcomes musician Tyson Leslie, a keyboardist, guitarist, bassist, vocalist, songwriter, and performer known for his work with multiple bands, including Vixen. Catherine explains that she met Tyson about a year earlier at M3 through her friend Jack Frost, and she opens the interview by noting how impressed she was after learning more about Tyson's wide-ranging music career and ongoing projects. Operation Babylift and Growing Up in Colorado Tyson shares that he came to the United States through Operation Babylift after the Vietnam War. He explains that, after the war ended, many orphaned babies were flown out of Vietnam on cargo planes and Pan Am planes, sometimes in difficult and unusual conditions. Tyson was brought to the United States, placed in the Midwest, and adopted by a Caucasian family in Greeley, Colorado. He says he is grateful for that outcome because he knows his life would likely have been very different otherwise. Discovering Music as a Child Catherine asks when Tyson first became involved with music, and Tyson says his mother remembers him playing piano at about age three, picking out simple melodies like “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” His father did not play music, but often gave him toy instruments, including small organs, drums, and guitars. Tyson later took classical piano lessons, then became inspired by bands and artists he saw on MTV, including Mötley Crüe, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Prince, and Michael Jackson. After winning a talent contest and earning $100, he bought his first guitar from a pawn shop and taught himself to play. Learning Instruments by Necessity Tyson explains that much of his musicianship came from necessity. If a band lost a bass player, he learned bass. When he worked at the piano bar Howl at the Moon in Kansas City, he had to jump between instruments and became a better drummer by playing regularly. He listened to drummers such as Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, and jazz-fusion players, while also exploring many different styles. Although he is known as a rock musician in Nashville, he says he plays country, R&B, hip hop, classical, fusion, and whatever else he is hired to perform. Corey Taylor, Vixen, and Major Career Moments Tyson identifies Corey Taylor from Slipknot as the first major artist he worked with, in a project that later connected to Corey's CMFT material. He then discusses moving to Nashville in 2015, briefly playing country music with Tracy Lawrence, and eventually joining the Vixen camp. Tyson also recalls Eddie Trunk's 40th anniversary show as one of the most surreal moments of his career because he shared the stage with artists he grew up admiring, including Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Kevin Cronin, and others. He also mentions playing before an enormous crowd with Bret Michaels at the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. Life with Vixen and the Fan Experience Catherine asks about Tyson's role in Vixen, and he explains that although the band's brand is built around being an all-female hard rock band, male keyboard players have been part of the live setup in different ways over the years. Tyson says he was originally asked to remain somewhat invisible in photos and videos, which he understood, but that his role has evolved and he is now included more openly in certain moments, such as end-of-show bows. Catherine and Tyson also talk about how bands from the 1980s still transport fans back to earlier times through songs that carry memory, identity, and nostalgia. Tyson's Original Music and “Little Green Honda” The interview turns to Tyson's solo work, beginning with “Little Green Honda.” Tyson explains that the song was inspired by a female singer in an early-2000s band whose worn-out Honda Civic could not go in reverse, had a cracked windshield, and had to be pushed out of parking spots after gigs. He wrote the song as a tongue-in-cheek, high-energy power-pop track influenced by Butch Walker and Marvelous 3. Tyson says the album was his first solo record, and he produced it, wrote it, and played most of the instruments, with friends contributing drums, guitars, and backup vocals. Collaboration, “Burning Time,” and the Mercenaries Concept Catherine then highlights “Burning Time,” which Tyson released under the concept name Mercenaries. Tyson explains that he chose that name because the idea was to bring in “badass” hired musicians to execute the job. The track features major players including Billy Sheehan on bass, Roxy Petrucci from Vixen on drums, Jimmy Bell on guitar, and Todd La Torre from Queensrÿche on vocals and co-writing. Tyson says Todd rearranged the song and elevated it beyond what Tyson had originally imagined, reinforcing Tyson's belief that collaboration often makes music stronger. Rock Cruises, Nashville, and Musical Community Catherine asks about rock cruises such as Monsters of Rock and the '80s Cruise, and Tyson describes them as uniquely fun because musicians and fans are all together on the ship, with nowhere else to go. Artists watch each other's shows, run into fans in cafeterias, sign memorabilia, and sometimes join unexpected late-night moments such as karaoke. Tyson also describes Nashville's Broadway scene as sensory overload, with multiple floors of live music, constant requests, country and rock bands, and musicians moving quickly between venues. He explains that his own schedule is driven by a busy calendar of piano shows, downtown Nashville gigs, Vixen dates, travel, and special events. “Cradle to the Grave” and Closing Thoughts The show closes with Tyson discussing “Cradle to the Grave.” Catherine says the track felt country to her, while Tyson explains that his influence was more T. Rex, with big vocals, a big sound, and a fun party energy. He says he wrote lyrics while stopped at traffic lights, then developed the song with collaborators who added drums, backing vocals, and guitar. Tyson describes the song as playful and somewhat nonsensical, with the feeling of going as hard as possible and having fun as if it were the end of the world. He directs listeners to find him by searching Tyson Leslie on social media, YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms before the episode ends with the song.
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys don't waste any time getting into some truly strange encounters. They start off in Oklahoma with the chilling testimony of a retired Special Forces sniper who came face to face with a massive humanoid figure after returning home from a late-night rabbit hunt. Armed, experienced, and battle-tested, he admits the creature showed no fear of him whatsoever. Even his military-trained dog collapsed in terror. Then they head into the wilds of Texas, where a retired police officer recounts multiple encounters spanning decades. From mysterious screams in the night and carefully stacked stones left in hunting stands, to a thunderstorm encounter with a towering, silver-haired giant standing only feet away from him in the darkness, this story is one of the most detailed Bigfoot reports we have ever covered.Next, they explore a disturbing series of sightings from Mississippi and Tennessee involving what the witness calls a “Lycandroid” creature. A former law enforcement officer describes repeated encounters over nearly twenty years with a massive wolf-like being crossing highways, moving through swampy terrain, and appearing in broad daylight. Then, two boys exploring remote woods in western New York encounter something that seems impossible: violently shaking trees, an earth-shaking growl, and later, a terrifying invisible entity that allegedly reached through an open window and physically dragged one of them across the floor. Decades later, both witnesses still stand by what they experienced. Then, into the mountains of eastern Kentucky, where generations of folklore collide with one family's terrifying firsthand account. A skeptical war veteran opens his front door expecting to find a bear, only to come face to face with what he describes as a massive dog-headed humanoid creature standing on his porch in the middle of the night. These stories come from hunters, police officers, veterans, and lifelong outdoorsmen. People trained to observe. People who insist they know what they saw. Were these encounters with Bigfoot, Dogman, something stranger, or simply fear manifesting in the darkness? You decide. All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives!Join the ConversationHave you experienced something unexplained in the woods, on the road, or near your home?

In this episode of Pixelated Playgrounds, Bryan and Josh journey through the afterlife in Death Howl! Developed by The Outer Zone and published by 11 Bit Studios, Death Howl is a deckbuilder that merges deliberate exploration, demanding combat, and stark, minimalist storytelling. Set in Mesolithic Scandinavia, the game features a mother named Ro who ventures into the spirit world to reclaim her lost son. Death Howl sets its self apart aesthetically with a rough, impressionistic pixel art and vibey sound design to its layered mechanics and themes. Interestingly its often billed as a “souls-like deckbuilder” a label that originated with the community rather than the developers. As ambiguous as the ‘souls-like' term can be the game captures the spirit of the genre in meaningful ways: its bonfire-like sacred groves, its tense death mechanics that are both punishing and forgiving, and its constant encouragement to explore every corner for secrets and advantages, among other things. With tense combat focused on positioning, deckbuilding strategies, and the satisfaction of repeatedly crafting powerful synergies rather than settling into just one, Death Howl also succeeds on a mechanical level. The aesthetics and mechanics all stand in service to a game that is telling a story about death, loss, and what it means to confront sorrow. By blending its aesthetic and mechanical strengths to suit this story, Death Howl leaves a lasting emotional impression. So listen in as we go on a journey worth remembering in Death Howl!Three Word Reviews:Josh - Constrained Card CrafterBryan - Soulslike, Not Derogatory

We hope you enjoyed your experience with The Loupe Gooru Musical Experience in its entirety, because this is literally all there is and all there'll ever be. It's too late for us to change anything now, so if you had notes this whole time, you shoulda listened to us and let us know back when we were still on the air sometime during, I dunno, THE PAST SEVEN YEARS?! Loupe would never say this to any one of you ungrateful motherfuckers but you pieces of shit don't deserve him, or any of WRYAT for that matter. Seven fucking years and you couldn't be fucking bothered. Seven fucking years. The reason you think we never have to put up with any of your bullshit is because we make it look like we're not. It's because we care, and we thought you felt the same way. Trust us, we have had to put up with so, so, so much more from you than you could ever, ever, ever know. Oh, don't try to explain yourself now. No excuses necssary. The goddamn show's over now anyway. And good news: you still never have to listen to it! Virtually nothing's changed for you, so sit back, relax and take a minute to just shut the fuck up. Just shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up, and then howl, damn it! Howl and fuck off forever! (Unless, of course, you did actually listen to Loupe and WRYAT, in which case, thank you so much!)
Hey, everybody! Howl yawl doin'? Oooooh, that is so good to hear. Ya know what else is good to hear? Music, of course! And who hears it better than WRYAT's own in-house (sometimes literally) on-air off-book DJ, Loupothy Albus Severus Gooru? Or "Loupe Gooru" for short? Or just "Loupe" for even shorter but only if you're on a first-name basis with each other? For years, DJ Loupe Gooru spun wild tales and led WRYAT listeners down magical mystery tracks of all things music in and around the Greater New Orleans Area. This first volume of his collected works chronicles his interviews with musicians, run-ins with coyotes, musical musings, and calendar after calendar of live music performances & venues from 2019 through the first two and a half months of 2020 before Loupe mysteriously went missing. Yes, there was also that pandemic, but nobody remembers or even cares about that anymore. Besides, a lot of that stuff was largely unrelated to whatever was going on in Loupe's life at the time. Of course, no one's really clear on what's happening in Loupe's life at any time, least of all Loupe. You'll learn that (and so much more) listening to his body of work in its entirety, and every question about the man that actually does get answered raises about ten other questions that will hopefully never receive anything resembling answers of any kind. Hey, don't ask about anything you don't wanna know about, you know? Because if you know anything, it's not to ask about everything, because you never know what you'll never wanna know, even if you think you wanna know. You know? Alright, y'all! Get to listenin' to Loupe at his most musically-oriented in this volume, and be sure to check out less music but more Loupe in the second volume if ya give a coyote's howl! Then give us a coyote's howl, would ya? Come on, it's easy! Ya just open your mouth real wide while tryin' to purse your lips together at the same time and go "HOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLLOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!" ...or something like that. I mean, the best I can do is guess. I'm a description, not a person.

Howard Jacobson has screamed "liar" at the BBC, lost friends over a newspaper article, and started asking his wife whether it's still safe to live in London. Now he's written a novel about all of it. *Howl* is the story of Ferdinand Draxler — Jewish headmaster, reluctant marcher, man on the edge — who watches the world he believed in applaud the October 7th massacre and descends into a rage that may or may not be madness. Jacobson says he borrowed quite a lot from the last two years of his life. In this Unholy Conversations episode, Jacobson talks with Yonit and Jonathan about the ungovernable anger behind the novel, why he chose comedy as the only honest vehicle for it, the friends who wrote accusing him of celebrating Palestinian deaths, the Manchester synagogue where he was bar mitzvahed and which was attacked on Yom Kippur, and the question he can't shake: what would we have done in Berlin in 1932? Sean and Lexi continue their werewolf-movie streak and focus on American Werewolf in Paris (1997), discussing how they expected a more direct, elegant follow-up to American Werewolf in London but instead got a teen-focused horror romp. They recap only the broad strokes: American teens in Paris, the Eiffel Tower bungee setup, Andy saving Serafin and getting pulled into a werewolf/ghost-filled mess involving wolf parties, murders, and a later science-y explanation for the curse. They call out the movie's heavy use of ghosts, wild tonal swings, and notably bad CGI, then briefly jump to future plans: keeping the two-movie format, picking Wolfen next, and eventually doing the Twilight movies.00:00 Cold Open Banter02:06 Picking The Movies03:47 Housekeeping And Theater Trips07:13 Texting And Weekend Chaos09:43 Werewolf In Paris Setup12:12 Ghosts And Sequel Expectations17:02 Eiffel Tower Bungee Intro23:59 Hospital Shoe And Dark Jokes31:47 Awkward Date And Condom Gag35:12 Condom Smell Rant36:30 Diner Chaos Setup37:16 Wolf Party Massacre37:36 Werewolves And Cannibal Talk43:19 Back To The Plot45:00 Period Scent Scene46:28 Ghost Friend Appears47:17 Graveyard Hookup Debate51:24 Ghost Julie Bowen Bits52:33 Serum Explanation Complaint53:09 Fourth Of July Trap54:57 Final Fight And Wedding57:26 Twilight Detour01:04:53 Next Week Picks

Muslims around the world are marking the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It's a time of prayer, fasting, and spiritual rejuvenation. Among those participating is a handful of Native Americans who have a unique relationship with Islam. We’ll speak with some Native Muslims about their faith and how they confront renewed animosity toward their beliefs as rhetoric from elected leaders and others increases. The American Revolution succeeded in making the 13 colonies independent from Britain, but for Native Americans, the war resulted in displacement from their homelands and an expansion of American encroachment. As the country gears up for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. declaring its independence, Native reenactors and historians are working to bring Native peoples' involvement in key moments of this time in history to life. Their work spans events from the Siege of Boston to the divisions the war spurred within the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We'll hear from Native historians about the effort to better portray the time of the American Revolution with accuracy and authenticity.
