Apoie o RdM e receba recompensas exclusivas: https://apoia.se/rdmCITADOS NO PROGRAMA:As Crônicas do Medo (2012)V/H/S/2 (2013)V/H/S Viral (2014)V/H/S/94 (2021)V/H/S/99 (2022)V/H/S/85 (2023)V/H/S/Beyond (2024)Spin-offs:Sereia Predadora (2016)Kids vs. Aliens (2022)Citações off topic:O ABC da Morte (2012)O ABC da Morte 2 (2014)O Ritual (2017)Amizade Desfeita (2014)Cuidado Com Quem Chama (2020)Operação Invasão (2011)Caos e Destruição (2025)Extraterrestre (2011)Knives and Skin (2019)Observador (2022)Estranhas Metamorfoses (1982)EPISÓDIOS CITADOS:RdMCast #322 – Embate Horror Japonês: O Chamado X O GritoRdMCast #254 – Embate Found Footage: A Bruxa de Blair vs Atividade ParanormalRdMCast #478 – Embate mal oculto: O Convite X O HóspedeRdMCast #463 – MaXXXineRdMCast #334 – De volta a Woodsboro: o novo PânicoRdMCast #377 – Ascensão, queda e redenção de M. PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Michael Felker (THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT) joins Adam and Joe in the ArieScope Studio to discuss his career journey and his directorial debut. From the films of 1999 that injected him with the filmmaking bug… to his experience at FSU and his first few assistant jobs working within the industry… to turning his gig as a “tape logger” for huge studio productions into his own version of film school… to the Production Assistant experience that changed his entire outlook on filmmaking… to his work as an editor on V/H/S VIRAL and his extensive working relationship editing films for friends of THE MOVIE CRYPT Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (Episode 209) like THE ENDLESS, SYNCHRONIC, and SOMETHING IN THE DIRT… to the process of writing and developing his time traveling mind bender THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT (in theaters now and available On-Demand soon)… and the massive wrench that got thrown into his production at the very start of photography and the extremely creative way that he pivoted to overcome the obstacle… Michael's story is as technically fascinating as it is inspiring. Also, Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a filmmaker who's project suddenly fell apart, the group discusses some of their unexpectedly pivotal moments at the cinema, and Michael shares why diligent pre-production and keeping the scope of a film within your available resources is so important to the success of an indie film.
This week, we're checking in to the heartbreak hotel and taking the express checkout to Hell as Spooktober continues with a minor forgotbuster based on a story by Stephen King. It's 2007's 1408, directed by Mikael Håfström, and starring John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, Mary McCormack, Jasmine Jessica Anthony, Tony Shaloub, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Len Cariou. The movie is not nearly scary enough to really leave a lasting impression, but it's not bad either, as its Swedish director injects a good amount of visual flair into a one-location concept, and Cusack is more than capable of carrying the load in what is largely a one-man show. Plus: We've got a mixed bag of theatrical field reports, as our intrepid hosts have combined to see The Wild Robot and Megalopolis! If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, 1408 is currently streaming on Hollywood Suite north of the border at the time this episode was released. You can probably also find it at your local library. Other works discussed in this episode include the Netflix Fear Street trilogy, Who Invited Them?, Late Night With The Devil, V/H/S/2, V/H/S: Viral, Cloverfield, The Blair Witch Project, [·REC], Quarantine, Searching, Paranormal Activity, The Mist, Scream, Talk To Me, Night of the Living Dead, Resident Evil, Dawn of the Dead (2004), 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, Friday the 13th Part 2, The Babadook, Malignant, Barbarian, Terrifier, Star Trek (2009), Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Mr. McMahon, Morbius, Poltergeist, The Shining, Room 104, Planet Terror, Death Proof, Halloween (2007), The Devil's Rejects, and Black Sheep. We'll be back next week as Spooktober continues with a well-regarded horror classic from one of the original masters of the genre, as we finally catch up with Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, currently streaming in Canada on Netflix at the time of publication. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!

It's SUMMER SLAYCATION time! This is our annual event in which we review and rank entire horror franchises. This summer is FOUND FOOTAGE FRENZY, and we're bringing you four found footage franchises that are sure to strike some fear into your vacation plans! First up, V/H/S Part 1 - we're covering V/H/S, V/H/S 2, and V/H/S: Viral!
This week Mike and Ariel are on hand to take a look at the third installment of the found footage, anthology series V/H/S VIRAL. Considered by most fans to be the worst of the series, your co-hosts are hard to disagree at the jumbled, ugly-looking mess that is Viral. While we can offer kudos at the attempt at delivering a theme (the shorts are all concerned with their protagonists achieving internet fame and glory) only three films in and the series seems far removed from its intentions of replicating the glory days of analog rights captured on video cassette. It doesn't help that the segments themselves are pretty tepid, nonsensical and just plain ugly to look at.
You're the one who thought Harlly, Jeaun, and Lawson were so interesting, but they're kinda tiresome after a while, don't you think? Vi pratar också om: Anders Fager, Samlade svenska kulter, Bläckfisken och den japanske sjömannen, Jag såg henne idag i receptionen, En man av stil och smak, Black Mirror, medveten medialitet, det återupplevda, Tape 56, Adam Wingard, You're Next, Godzilla vs King Kong, found footage, August Underground, David Brueckner, The Ritual, The Night House, Hellraiser-rebooten, Google Glasses, Filip & Fredriks Podcast, brott mot reciprocitetsprincipen, Furierna från Borås, Second Honeymoon, Ti West, Göran Persson, Lost Highway, Pearl, X, House of the Devil, Ringu, Fredagen den 13:e, Tuesday the 17:th, Slenderman, Predator, The Evil Dead, Glenn McQuaid, Host, The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger, Joe Swanberg, 10.31.98, Radio Silence, Tape 49, The Eye, Phase One Clinical Trials, A Ride in the Park, The Blair Witch Project, Gregg Hale, Eduardo Sánchez, Dutch angle, Timo Tjahjanto, Gareth Evans, The Raid, VLC-appens utmärkta undertextnedladdningsfunktion, de läckra specialeffekterna i Cloverfield, Slumber Party Alien Abduction, Kids VS Aliens, Magnus Jäverling och Shudder. Golgothan Guastini Special Effects Get M.A.D. with Chris Graves 8-28-2022 Vincent GuastiniThis podcast is uncut and slightly longer than the standard one-hour show we usually get from Chris.Notes By Chris Graves:I'd like to welcome motion picture/television makeup & special effects master, Vincent J. Guastini! I once had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Guastini in 2007, for filmmaker Kevin Smith's official news website, Newsaskew, now defunct, unfortunately.Vincent started his own special make-up effects company at the age of 22, originally in New Jersey and New York for 15 years, and then later in Hollywood for 19 years. Specializing in prosthetics, creature effects, design, and animatronics. His big breakthrough film came in 1991 when asked to take over the prosthetic effects for Michael Mann's 60-million dollar film "The Last of the Mohicans" for 20th Century Fox. After this film, Vincent went on to supervise and design creature effects for various studio and independent films. In 2001 Vincent moved his company to the West Coast and is now one of the top effects & design studios in Hollywood where Vincent lives and is based for the past 20 years.Vincent's practical effects work is mostly known for his 30-plus years in the business of creating the groundbreaking animatronic wings and creature effects in Kevin Smith's film "Dogma" and for Darren Aronofsky's film, "Requiem for a Dream", he designed sculpted and applied prosthetics changing Oscar-nominated actress Ellen Burstyn into a thinning decaying woman. The prosthetic transformation made Vincent an Oscar hopeful that year and is looked at as one of the most convincing transformations in prosthetic makeup history for subtlety and realism. He later worked with Aronofsky again on the film "Aftermath" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger where Vincent's team created silicone bodies for a graphic plane crash.Guastini's other groundbreaking effects include the first use of silicone technology with fire victim effects for Clint Eastwood's "Letters of Iwo Jima" and "Flags of Our Father". Other films include the Bryan Singer-produced horror film hit "The Taking of Deborah Logan". With the help of prosthetic silicone appliances and puppets, Vincent and his team transformed actress Jill Larson into a crazed demonic possessed creature.Film History & Background:V.G.P. We've had the pleasure of hanging with the man on a few sets, and sharing his love and passion for the cool practical effects that he creates. Vincent's not only a way cool, down-to-earth guy, but he also has been effectively keeping the beauty of real, actual creatures and effects in film, making new strides and creating never-before-seen visuals that just wouldn't look the same in CGI. We applaud him for that. You may recognize some of Guastini's effects in the View Askew flicks Vulgar, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. He also MIGHT be on board for "Red State" (lips tightened but fingers crossed) and even designed some test stuff for the Green Hornet flick that never was. There's a podcast. After you listen to it, they say you get a call. And the person on the other end says that you're gonna have another episode to listen to in seven days, raaaargh! ....Okay, so maybe not as ominous as our subject of today's Crit but we tried. Get comfortable as we rewind 2002's unsettling but very vibe-y The Ring (2003), America's gateway to J-horror remakes and a film that made us all paranoid about blank tapes and TVs. From Gore Verbinski's masterful and immersive direction, Craig Wood's effective editing, Noah as a baby daddy and to what Jared and Melle personally found scary about the film, the conversation in this episode flows deep, like Samara's well. So grab your popcorn, turn your volume up and don't touch that dial. ScaryCrit comin' atcha like a girl crawlin' through your TV screen. Vicious Circles/frame narrative (Prologue) It's almost time for your YouTube video to upload, you've got all the footage edited and complete. You re-watch the footage to make sure all the victims that died on-camera look good, so your stardom can rise. You say to yourself "Where is my snickered flat brim Yankees hat?" Obviously, it's located in your truck to match your truck nuts, and "Boss" and "Champ" stickers. Before you send the video, you remember to thank all your fans for sticking with you through all the exploited content you've provided, because of course you're a man of the people. Dante The Great: If you could become the real Cris Angel, and float to the moon by way of the dark emo arts, then by God you would. Now, becoming a homicidal maniac because you're in love with your apprentice so much, that it leads you down the serial killer route. It would be in your best interest to stick with bunnies appearing out of top hats. Unless of course, you enjoy being scum. The Douchery displayed from Dante The Great, bodes well with the ending. Vicious Circles (Interlude 1) - You would think standing on the edge of a bridge, leaning over without support would keep you leveled. But, of course, gravity. Hopefully, this fine gentleman of society got his footage before eating a pavement skillet sandwich. Maybe this footage will get him that fame he would kill for. Parallel Monsters - Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and most likely the lizard alien Mark Zuckerberg, have the means and funds to time travel or visit different universes. I'm intrigued to know what Zuckerberg's parallel self would be like. Maybe someone with a personality? Do they blink? They don't shed skin in the heat? The possibilities are endless. Maybe the crotch monsters in this universe destroy the bad eggs? Or are they all evil? Vicious Circles - (interlude 2) If I was on death row for a mass-murdering spree or some other heinous crime, I would never EVER harm an animal. Now would I commit another murder spree if you killed, let alone harmed my animal? You would be crucified, torched, and pissed on, to say the least. What this man did to avenge his said sweet puppers, is beyond warranted. Bonestorm - Tony Hawk would be proud of these fellas, hittin' their sick nasty flip tricks. Hittin' a rad Ollie off a desecrated corpse, ya know the usual activities teenage skateboarders do. Día de Muertos is a sacred thing in Mexico, unfortunately for these kids, they don't listen and disturb the peace of the dead. In doing so, they alert some sort of blood cult God servants to dispatch a couple of them, while leaving the. To fend for their Red Bull drinkin' asses. Vicious Circles (Interlude 3) - Kevin is still trying to chase the truck that is holding his girl hostage. He runs into a pedestrian who's caught on the iPhone trance and begins to bleed out, that statement alone is beyond true. He makes a failed attempt of grabbing a taxi. It reveals that the taxicab is in the middle of shooting some very explicit "Taxi cab confession" episode. Luckily the woman hired on reveals something close to her brought her here, and has other plans for this disgusting dweeb directing it. Vicious Circles (epilogue) - Kevin reaches the van abandoned in the Los Angeles River, back door open, inviting him inside with intercom footage speaking right to his soul. Upon entering, what he discovers and the choice he has to make opens up a world of different outcomes this series holds. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/drekculazunderworld/support

Mitchell Whitt from the "Morbidly Macabre" podcast found that he was not alone when it came to the appreciation of "Dance of the Dead", a Ghost House Underground feature that was directed by Gregg Bishop ("The Other Side" and "V/H/S Viral") and written by Joe Ballarini ("A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting"). Ghost House Pictures was founded by "Evil Dead" and "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi and his producer Robert Tapert, so it was only natural to be drawn to a feature their money was behind with humor and ridiculous zombies to fight. This led to a conversation that explores both of our experiences in high school. We discuss the concepts of: how prom really affects teenagers, the importance of trauma to really force us to grow up, and how we both ended up at one point or another in blue shirts with yellow tags. "Dance of the Dead" features characters that reminds all white kids how great it is to be done with public education.
In our efforts to find a spooky movie with some skateboarding we settled on the found footage horror anthology film "V/H/S Viral" - a film we did not enjoy but that does have a whole segment devoted to skateboarders who fight monster cultists in Tijuana. We also wound up discussing a lot of other scary movies that we *do* like such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Shining, Poltergeist, Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and the genuinely terrifying Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace. Happy Halloween, y'all!
Tony Reames and Torey Haas discuss their latest production Dead by Midnight: Y2Kill. From their initial meeting on the set of V/H/S Viral, to creating a horror anthology and its sequel, Tony and Torey share stories and secrets of independent filmmaking and how to get your script greenlit. Jessa B and DJ Kemit hear how they got their favorite horror icons to be in their latest indie horror flick, which horror movies traumatized them as children and what new filmmakers need to know. Hear how they got Kane Hodder (Jason from Friday the 13th), Bill Moseley and the Scream Queen Linnea Quigley to star in their latest horror anthology.
This is a big episode for the Scary Stuff Podcast, and we're not just referring to the runtime! Since we first discussed starting a podcast, we've been eager to do a spotlight episode on two of our absolute favorite directors: Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. With the recent release of their Twilight Zone episode titled "8," we took that as a sign to make them the focus of our own "8th" episode. But before we review that particular Twilight Zone episode, we discuss their previous works in the order we saw them: the "Bonestorm" segment of V/H/S Viral (2014), Spring (2014), Resolution (2012), and The Endless (2017). The works of this directing duo mean a lot to us, and we had a blast discussing them. We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed recording it, and thanks for listening!! MOVIE TIMECODES: *Bonestorm = 00:16:17 *Spring = 00:43:16 *Resolution = 01:52:32 *The Endless = 02:56:31 *8 = 04:31:27

31 Days of Horror still going strong with Nez and Brian. On today’s episode they bring to you 2014’s V/H/S Viral.
V/H/S 2 surprised audiences when it was released to both (mostly) positive critical reception and financial success. So, it might have seemed inevitable that it would get yet another sequel. That would be V/H/S Viral, featuring none of the original filmmakers, which received the worst critical reception, and the lowest box office numbers, of the franchise. Was it deserved? Warning, spoilers to follow.

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are an interesting pair of filmmakers. Back in 2012 they made a movie that played at the Tribeca Film Festival entitled RESOLUTION. It was a bit surreal and could be considered art house horror. With its rave reviews, folks were excited for 2014 where they released the sci-fi horror film SPRING and had a segment in the horror anthology V/H/S: VIRAL. Again, praise was heaped upon them. Now, their new film THE ENDLESS has been released to possibly their greatest acclaim. Some time ago two brothers, Justin and Aaron, escaped a UFO death cult. Now years later, neither are able to get their lives together. When a mysterious VHS tape arrives with a message from someone from the cult, the two return to the commune to try to get closure with their years before. When they arrive, Aaron discovers that the cult wasn’t exactly what Justin had told him, and soon a mystery about their future begins to unfold. With its metaphysical characteristics, and its interesting connection to their very first movie, THE ENDLESS has been getting much attention by genre fans. As the supernatural becomes the ordinary, the lead characters try to decipher what’s happening so they can move on with their lives. Dark Discussions takes a look at this very peculiar movie and attempts to decipher its message. As always we welcome your comments: darkdiscussions@aol.com (written email or attached mp3 files) WWW.DARKDISCUSSIONS.COM

After a prolonged hiatus, we are back to our normal operating day. Pardon our dust, mind the gap, thank you for your patience, and all of that. Things that are discussed in this episode: First and foremost, we have the phenomenal actor Justin Welborn, showcasing a range from the comically absurd to white hot tension with serious gravitas. You may remember Welborn from recent turns in JUSTIFIED on FX, or in the genre films SIREN and V/H/S VIRAL (two films that share DNA with today's episode.) Before we entered into the ought-teens, the cinematic cultural landscape was rich with two different breeds of films. Teen comedies and Zombie films. While many have attempted to traverse the borders of the venn diagram to a shared space between "zombie," "teen film," and "good;" and there have been a lot of misfires where they were missing at least one of the three trifecta. However, DANCE OF THE DEAD (2008) managed to hit a bullseye and really stick the landing. A hilarious film that serves to both parody and honor films ranging from THE BREAKFAST CLUB to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Justin Welborn and company are high school seniors dealing with a zombie outbreak on prom night. Following that, Justin Welborn takes on hordes of a different kind. While the Nighthawks use the term "zombie film" when discussing THE SIGNAL (2007), a general "horde" label is probably more apropos. A strange signal is sent out through all of electronic media, causing anyone who witnesses it to slowly and violently lose grip on reality. In the midst of the general confusion and chaos, a long simmering love-triangle boils over in the wake of the sanity-shattering signal. No Country for Old Men with Resolution/Spring Filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead This week, Jinx welcomes filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to the show! The mad geniuses behind Resolution, Spring, the “Bonestorm” segment of V/H/S Viral, and the upcoming film The Endless, Messrs. Benson and Moorhead have made an unusual choice for their horror film pick - the 2007 Coen Brothers film No Country for Old Men. During the chat, the film’s story, subtext, and slasher film eligibility are discussed at length, along with comparisons of No Country’s Anton Chigurgh to other horror icons, genre elements in the Coens’ other films, and why the cheetah budget on Ridley Scott’s The Counselor is downright infuriating. It’s a great talk with brilliant guests about an unlikely horror film, and it’s one we hope you enjoy! Hot Dog #16- This week we watched the 2014 Found Footage Horror Film V/H/S Viral", direct by 5 hacks. This film had us asking such questions as, was the goal to have no transitions? Do the people in the satanic version of the world have to feed their monster penises? Did "Nacho" have a bigger image for where this needed to go? Where did that skateboarder get a gun? Did they make the internet get haunted? Is their message that the internet is bad, or that youtube is bad, or a some third option? And other questions! Join us for this Hot Dog! Everybody knows that SlasherCast loves V/H/S 1 & 2. Both movies earned the elusive SlasherCast Platinum rating, but what will they think of the third and final entry in the found footage franchise? The guys dissect its segments piece by piece and cover all the ups and downs on this one. Also, SlasherCast takes a look at Roger Ebert's favorite (and not-so-favorite) horror movies as they continue their celebration of the month of Halloween.
