Each week Kirbe Schnoor sits down with bestie Lizzy Bentley to talk about everything that appeals to her most. Fashion, food, music, art, rodeo and Western culture — they cover it all, while giving you a behind-the-scenes look at their lives, favorite places, and things to do in Fort Worth. New guests join them on every episode to weigh in on the topics of the week, play games, and share their stories.
One of our favorite Texas country artists helps us kick off Season 2! For our first episode of 2023, we met up with Josh Abbott before he and the band took the stage at Billy Bob's Texas — where we recorded from the green room! We talked to Josh about how it feels to play the world's largest honky-tonk, the birth of the Josh Abbott Band and their years at Texas Tech, his biggest inspirations as an artist, career milestones, the JAB Cares foundation and what's up next. We also compare notes from our time in Vegas at the NFR (the Super Bowl of Rodeo, where we saw JAB play in December). Like the show? Kirb Appeal recently recorded its first show in front of a live audience — thanks to rodeo photographer and friend of the show Steve Wrubel, who introduced the latest additions to his Let's Ride series at the Christopher Martin Gallery in Dallas on October 14. In addition to cocktails and Tex-Mex, he brought in Kirb Appeal to help celebrate! Kirbe and Lizzy joined Steve at the art opening — as well as special guests Nancy Shearer, founder of NS Marketing, and champion bareback rider Tilden Hooper, an 8-time qualifier for the National Finals Rodeo — to talk Western lifestyle, rodeo and what makes cowboy cool. Of course, Taylor Sheridan and Yellowstone come up in the conversation, as does Tilden's starring 12-second role on the show … and Steve's brush with death in the arena, his favorite athletes to photograph, and working the Steiner family. This week we talk to someone who truly inspires us — Katie Stadler. As the founder of BeHumanKindness, Katie is stepping in and stepping up to help refugees from the Ukraine. She splits her time between Fort Worth and Eastern Europe, where she relocates Ukrainian families to safehouses in Poland as Russia continues to occupy their home country. Her nonprofit BeHumanKindness not only offers these families shelter and food in the safety of Warsaw, but also the tools and help they need to start over. The work Katie has done, and the thousands of people she's helped, is incredible. Prepare yourself, this episode is a tearjerker! This week we crack open some tall boys with Katie Beal Brown, creator of Lone River Ranch Water. We talk about how her West Texas roots and favorite cocktail inspired her hard seltzers label and Lone River's newest releases, as well as living in Fort Worth, surviving quarantine and, of course, all things Ryan Bingham! Taking a little bit of West Texas to NYC, Katie Beal Brown pulled the ultimate party trick, serving up the cocktail of cowboys. She then hit the shelves with her canned ranch waters at the start of the pandemic — when we all needed something to take the edge off. Like the show? If loving Jake White is a crime, consider us guilty! This week we talk to former FWPD sergeant Jake White about his new true crime podcast, Signal 51 Chronicles. If you like true crime stories, you will love Signal 51 Chronicles - especially if you are a DFW resident. (You may even remember seeing some of these cases being covered by the local news, or live down the street from one of the witnesses.) Having spent 22 years at the FWPD, Jake and his cohost investigative journalist John Henry dive back into at local DFW cases, often unraveling new details and always bringing fresh insight and perspective to some of the most famous and heinous crimes to happen in their (and our) backyard.
