On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by musician Rick Monroe and singer/songwriter, Matt Oakley!RICK MONROEWorld-class entertainer Rick Monroe brings his music and a magnetic presence wherever he goes. With adown-to-earth Country resonance, Monroe is no stranger to the stage: he's performed in 17 countries–and every U.S. state including Washington DC & Puerto Rico. The seven-time Jägermeister Country Brand Ambassador has toured with Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Lee Bice, Aaron Lewis, Eli Young Band, Pat Green & Randy Houser as well as has opened for Country Music Legends like Charlie Daniels Band, Dwight Yoakam, Travis Tritt, Patty Loveless and more; entertained for the USO, AFE, U.S. troops in Vietnam and the former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. His brother called him “Elvis Gump” because of all the amazing people and places his career has led him.Show-goers can expect to hear some of Rick's new material as well as hit singles like the sultry “This Side of You,” and the Southern rocker “Cocaine Cold & Whiskey Shakes.” As well as several Top 40 hits from the IT'S A LOVE THING, GYPSY SOUL EPs & Full Albums SMOKE OUT THE WINDOW & AGAINST THE GRAIN.For those who aren't familiar with his music, Rick advises them to come to the show for a good time and to be ready for “just about anything.” “I love to play,” the singer notes. “And I want everyone to play along. I like to think of my shows as an interactive sport.”Rick enjoys sponsorships and/or endorsements with Monster Energy Drink, GHS Strings, SE electronics, Roper Western Wear, Shubb Capos, Speakeasy Original, Westone Audio & Fishman Audio. Rick grew up in a variety of places–California, Connecticut, Kansas, North Carolina, even England, and his love of music and outgoing personality naturally drew him to the stage. Now based in Nashville, Monroe believes GYPSY SOUL shows the kind of diversity he can offer as an artist. He says, “I'm not so linear in my approach to music; I'm more diversified. My influences range from A to Z and I always try to put that into my music. But my home base will always be Country because it's not just about the hype of an idea; it's based on songs.” Fans can expect to hear a wide range of material–but Rick promises that it will all be quality. If his chart success is any indication, it's clear Monroe knows what folks want to hear–and he's eager to give them exactly that.MATT OAKLEYMatt Oakley is diving in with the ultimate summertime love song, “Single This Summer,” releasing on June 28. Neon nights and shots in the moonlight, “Single This Summer” delivers clever messaging of "trying to keep her from being ‘single this summer'."“We wanted the tempo and energy to match the storyline and feel like a summer song, not some slow love song,”Oakley states about the song that'll have you carefree in the summer heat.Matt Oakley's first song written with Nashville songwriters including GRAMMY Award winning songwriter David Ray Stevens, “Single This Summer” ushers in good vibes in summertime. Bailey and the Bad Habits are a Red Dirt Country/ Southern Rock band from Waxahachie, TX. The music is written by frontman, Derek Bailey who uses his life experience to write authentic songs about Love and War. All aspects together deliver a sound and feeling that will fill venues of all sizes. Bailey and the Bad Habits have a very wide range of influence, including Whiskey Myers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Blackberry Smoke, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hank Williams Jr. Pat Green, John Anderson and many, many more. Pull up a stool and lend an ear, because today's episode is brimming with tales you'd expect to overhear at a secluded airport bar. Ever wonder what it's like to serve a drink to the likes of Rob Lowe or share a silent nod with James Marsden? I've got the inside scoop on these starry encounters, plus some not-so-glinting moments, like Steve Harvey's early morning demands. We'll explore the intertwining of fame and humanity—where every pour and tip reveals a narrative etched in the glitz and grit of celebrity life. The glamor isn't confined to the silver screen; sometimes it walks right into your day job. Imagine chatting with Clark Gregg about his Marvel adventures or Patrick Warburton's distinctive voice filling the room. This episode spins a yarn about these moments and more, including a quiet exchange with SNL's Andrew Dismukes and a hearty handshake from country star Pat Green. It's not just the brush with fame that lingers but the humility and warmth these figures exude amidst their travels.Yet the life of an airport bartender isn't always garnished with star sightings. Today, I recount a sobering tale of excess and the shadow it casts over the glitzy encounters. We discuss the pitfalls of substance use, especially in the high-flying context of post-pandemic travel, and the impact it leaves on both the famous and the fans. So, settle in with your drink of choice, as we mix a cocktail of celebrity run-ins and life lessons learned beyond the bar top.Support the Show.

Apologies for missing last week's episode. My father was a bit sick and I was coming off being sick. These things are harder to shake the older you get. We had a lot to discuss since we didn't record an episode last week. Plus I have been to a lot of concerts these past few weeks with still more to come. Last night at the Pat Green concert, my wife meet the owner of Epic Western, an awesome cocktail in a can company. You should DEFINITELY give them a taste/try. Delicious! Everything else, you will learn when you download and listen to this week's episode of The 2 Old Farts! Enjoy.

Sponsored by www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttps://www.dylanwheelermusic.com/Saturday, May 27th, 2023The Camp at Lake WappapelloDylan WheelerDoors 6:30 All Ages!Dylan Wheeler, also known as the "Broke Ass Kid," embodies the evolution of the Texas Independent Music Scene and represents the level of talent it can produce. His music combines the depth of a singer-songwriter with a fusion of Rock and Alternative genres, injecting a breath of fresh air into a scene often dominated by Country roots. With a powerful vocal range and a singing style influenced by icons like Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Layne Staley, Dylan Wheeler stands out as a truly unique and exceptional artist. His music defies categorization, appealing to a wide audience and fueling dreams of success. Currently living his dream, Dylan's future looks promising as he continues to make his mark in the industry. Hailing from Edgewood, Texas, he cut his teeth in small dive bars, following in the footsteps of his East Texas heroes. However, what sets Dylan apart is his ability to cultivate a dedicated fan base even before officially releasing his music.Through social media platforms like Twitter, Dylan garnered fans from all over by sharing acoustic videos of both original songs and covers. One of his videos, a rendition of the 90s country hit "Strawberry Wine," quickly gained over 100,000 views, providing a glimpse of his potential. This early fan base eagerly anticipated the release of his first EP, "Tell Me If I'm Wrong," in late 2018. The songs from this EP accumulated tens of thousands, and later hundreds of thousands, of streams, solidifying Dylan's destiny as a full-time musician. In 2019, Dylan made the life-changing decision to quit his job in the Oil & Gas industry and fully commit himself to music. Embracing this new path, his schedule filled up with bigger and better shows, frequent trips to Nashville for writing and recording, and continuous engagement with his growing fan base. Each new song released showcased his artistic growth, attracting new fans while further captivating his existing supporters.Within just a few years, Dylan's journey has transformed from receiving tens of thousands of views on acoustic videos to amassing tens of millions of streams across major platforms. He has transitioned from playing small dive bars to selling out major venues in his home state and beyond. However, Dylan sees himself as just beginning, believing that the sky's the limit. One of our newest Patreon supporters is our buddy Justin Landers out of Oklahoma. Justin is a big part of Orange Peel Altus and they always bring in some great musical artists at their events. For more info go to orangeconnection.org and check it out. Today's guest on the show is a Troubadour Podcast Alumni and we're glad to have him back. Michael Kelton first appeared on the show back on Episode # 110. Along with putting on his Sideman Song Swap acoustic live shows at various venues around Texas, he's also an accomplished songwriter and plays drums in Pat Green's band. I'm not sure how he gets everything done in his life with everything he's got going on, but we're about to get some insight on that. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to look at, I wasn't able to take part in this episode and Carly had to fly solo interviewing Michael for this episode and she did a great job. So, let's jump in to episode #166 featuring our buddy, Michael Kelton. Wanna give Pete and Carly a hand at The Troubadour AND get some free swag? CLICK HERE
