Sinema Kulübü'müzün 18inci buluşmasında Jason Reitman'ın yönettiği başrollerinde George Clooney, Vera Farmiga ve Anna Kendrick'in oynadığı 2009 yılı yapımı orijinal adıyla “Up in the Air”, bizde “Aklı Havada” olarak gösterime giren filmini konuştuk.

Up In The Air, boring or not, is this week's question. Why do I find this movie interesting, and why does Valerie find it boring? Could the answer lie in Ryan Bingam's character arc (and does he have one)? Could it lie in the small amount of exposition? Or could it be that George Clooney movies are boring? One thing is certain: this episode is the opposite of boring. -M"Is this story interesting, entertaining and worthwhile if the protagonist doesn't have an internal worldview shift?" -Melanie HillRelated Story Nerd Episodes:The Social Network: Season 12, Episode 1 I, Tonya: Season 12, Episode 3Gone Baby, Gone: Season 12, Episode 6 For access to writing templates and worksheets, and more than 70 hours of training (all for free), subscribe to Valerie's Inner Circle. To learn to read like a writer, visit Melanie's website.Follow Valerie on X, Instagram and Threads @valerie_francisFollow Melanie on X, Instagram and Facebook @MelanieHillAuthor

In this third part of the "Going to the Movies" series, we talk about the 2009 film "Up In The Air". The story is centered on a traveling corporate "downsizer" named Ryan Bingham. His job is to travel the world helping companies essentially lay off people. His life philosophy is one about disconnecting and detaching, as his whole job is to tell people they're being cut off. When thinking about his travels and lifestyle, he realizes that even though he has a city he works out of, he is so transient with his work and life that he really has no home or connections to one place or to people in general. The film examines the philosophy - what if you decided to live hub to hub, city to city, with nothing and nobody? This episode focuses on the very thing Ryan didn't seem to have many of or be very good at - relationships. Each of us has a variety of relationships with other people in our lives. Regardless of whether they are casual acquaintances, close friends, or something else, God calls us to have relationships with others. It's up to us to do what we need to make those relationships meaningful and keep them healthy.
Zachary Scott Kline came into my consciousness thanks to an email from Nashville songwriter, Henry Conlon, a former guest on my Tasty Brew Music Radio Show and Podcast. Zachary's power trio that included Ray Akers on bass and Sam Hatfield on drums was coming to the Heartland including playing a show in Lawrence. It was a great honor to host what I believe to be Zachary's debut radio interview and performance. Zachary found his way to Americana via competitive football and the San Francisco punk scene. Apparently there is an inside joke that when they turn 30, punk rockers put a cowboy hat on and mutate into something completely different. Really? I duly note Zachary counts John Prine, Blaze Foley, Ryan Bingham, David Ramirez and Jason Isbell as strong influences. Well done. I find Zachary's songcrafting sincere and his lyricism and turn of phrase compelling. Zachary…keep working on that website...the music loving public at large needs to find you with ease. Enjoy the debut radio performance and interview of Zachary Scott Kline.
Episode 118 picks up in September 2007 where we discuss a David Allan Coe show at The Cain's Ballroom with Otis Watkins opening. After that we continue to talk about a country casino show w/ The Bellamy Brothers, We also discuss a Sum 41 show at The Diamond Ballroom that did less than 400 tickets sold. 2007 & 2008 were filled with lots of shows, including The Misfits at Cains & Diamond, The Cult, Modest Mouse, & more... We finish this episode talking about the massive Hannah Montanna show at the Ford Center w/ the Jonas Bros opening... See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dan Smalley may just now be making a name for himself, but he sings with the voice of experience. The Alaska born military brat who came of age in Shreveport, Louisiana, has a way of making you believe what he's singing. Smalley expresses a fresh take on Country music that knows tradition, inspired by the greats of the genre and infused with the swampy sounds of his roots, the Gospel of hardwood church pews and the impassioned delivery of Soul music. Artists like Merle Haggard, Ray Charles, Waylon Jennings, Al Green, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and other legends provided inspiration, while the against-the-grain success of Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson drew him to Nashville. There, he worked with producer Keith Stegall on his Debut EP IF I'M BEING HONEST which came out in 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic. From there Smalley navigated in and out of Major Record deals and honed his direction after producing his first Full-Length Record THE STATE OF COUNTRY MUSIC, set to release Independently(Smallside Records) through Onerpm May 10, 2024. As a songwriter, artists like Ashley McBryde(Grammy Nominated album “Never Will”) Trace Adkins, Randall King, Jerrod Nieman, Makayla Lynn, Dillon Carmichael and others have included Smalley co-writes on their recent releases. Dan's delivery on stage has landed him on bills alongside Willie Nelson, Allison Kraus, Turnpike Troubadours, Ashley McBryde, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Eli Young Band, Justin Moore, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Rogers Band, Ryan Bingham and a list of notable others both in the US and abroad. Smalley has played some of the greatest festivals in the world(Faster Horses, Country Fest, Frank Brown Songwriter, Nashville Nights International Songwriter Festival)and is making his “Buckle and Boots”(Manchester) Debut in May 2024 as well as his Heartland Fest(Denmark) Debut in June of 2024 after his most recent UK/DK Spring Tour through Glasgow, Belfast, England and Denmark. Time flies when you're having fun. Time moves excruciatingly slowly when you are sleep deprived and can't seem to get the baby down for a nap. What do these things have in common? They don't last forever. We are going to talk about just how fast things move when it comes to raising kids and why we hate the phrase "I miss those days." "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker is the perfect song to describe this moment in time. Mentioned in This Episode: Yellowstone Caddyshack Kairos Moment Show Notes: 4:04 Dad Life Sound Check - The Series "Yellowstone" provides both parenting advice and music from Ryan Bingham. They also touch on the fact that when you are in the middle of it you aren't always the most receptive to hearing about how people miss it. Dave needs to go and research the word Kairos as well. Due to the incredible popularity of the segment, in January 2023,we decided to roll it out as a stand alone podcast with new episodes every month. This is such a cute story. Texas is getting two new species of grasshoppers. They were recently discovered by researchers in the Lone Star State. Dubbed Melanoplus nelsoni and Melanoplus walkeri, the famously named grasshoppers were found in Central Texas. How cute! There is also a new country music show on the horizon!Texas Hot Country is the name of the show, and focuses on the international popularity of country music with a focus on insider stories of the songs, and the legendary artists, and new artists that are putting country music on the map.It will be hosted by Leon Beck of Gilley's fame. Mr. Beck says “Country music is real music. It touches the heart and the soul and often times captures the story of one's life.” Amen to that. We will keep you posted on when to watch, and how..Visit StoneColdCountry.Net for more interesting articles on country music past and present..

eTown continues celebrating 30 years of great programming. This week, from season 2015, we feature singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham (he'd just made a big splash with his work on the soundtrack of the popular movie Crazy Heart). And Nashville-based country singer Nikki Lane gives us a taste of her irreverent and original take on a classic country sound. Plus, we've got an inspiring eChievement Award story about a couple collecting and distributing food to offset weekend hunger for kids in their community.
We'll gang, it's time for another Yellowstone party at the ranch. The boys talk about the upcoming affair and mix it up with a ton of other random content. Steven gets into his feels while reminiscing about his Marine Corps experience and Jonathan gets real about his recent treatments. There is a short political back and forth, but they don't go deep down that rabbit hole. They vibe out to some Ryan Bingham jams and remind everyone how cool he is. Enjoy the show gang.
The authenticity of Yellowstone can be seen [and heard] from many angles - Ryan Bingham and Yellowstone Music Supervisor Andrea Von Foerster chat with us as we dig into rodeo and ranch life outside of the Dutton Ranch and the music that captures it.
