Continuing from last week, we will be speaking on what companies need to do to retain their developers. We will be discussing on some things companies can do and look out for to assure they retain their developers.
Most companies have some form of testing process they require developers to do, however many times there seems to be some problems ; 1. Some tests are really easy and the questions can be copied and pasted which proves nothing if developers pass. 2. Some tests have very little to do with the day to day for the job being tested. 3.Some tests do not evaluate the true ability and at times they can be used to turn away good candidates. 4. Every environment is different and it’s hard to assess how someone actually codes unless you ask good well thought out questions as well as spending time them whilst they code etc. We will be hearing Dan’s view and advice on this topic.
EP#17 Should Employed Developers Work On Side Projects? Many developers have side projects for different reasons, some companies really encourage it whilst others discourage it.
We will be discussing on how both parties can find a middle ground as opposed to having a Yes or No approach, a middle ground which will be beneficial for both parties.
