Join plushie Dean Winchestbear, his brothers Sammy Winchestbear and Castiel Bear of the Lord, and his Human, Amanda Lynn, on a soft, cuddly, and love-filled journey through the television show Supernatural.
In Supernatural's classic "Rashomon" episode, Dean and Sam investigate a series of weird attacks on a college campus, leaving two professors dead and one frat boy traumatized by an apparent alien abduction. The Winchesters call Bobby for help when they can't stop arguing long enough to solve the case. Dean
Sam goes missing for a week, leaving Dean frantic. He turns up covered in blood, with no memory of whose it is or how it got there. Dean's search for answers takes a deadly turn when "Sam" takes Jo hostage after tormenting her with intimate details of her father's death at John's hands. Dean
Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders in which the perpetrators claim they were instructed to commit the crime by an angel. Sam fervently believes angels are real, especially after the angel tells him he needs Sam to stop a bad guy. Dean isn't convinced that angels exist until he sees an event that he has no way to explain. Dean
Sam and Dean get in "squeal-like-a-pig trouble" when they encounter Ronald Reznick, a crazy security guard who survived a robbery and is now convinced that only he can bring the "mandroid" thief to justice. He takes a bank full of customers and staff hostage at the same time that Sam and Dean go to hunt the shapeshifter who's actually about to rob the bank. Find out just how screwed Sam and Dean are in Supernatural 2.12, "Nightshifter." Dean
Dean and Sam work a case at an old-school haunted hotel to take Sam's mind off the unsuccessful search for Ava. Sam turns out to be a pretty miserable drunk who extracts an impossible promise from Dean. Dean fails to notice many obvious references to The Shining. And Conchita Campbell plays yet another incredibly creepy child. Dean

Sam makes a new friend, fellow Psychic Kid Ava, when her vision tips him off that an old "friend," fellow hunter Gordon Walker, is trying to kill him before he becomes the Boy King of Hell. Dean
Another death vision of Sam's leads the Winchesters to a small town in Oregon that seems to be experiencing a pandemic. (Because that's what we want to watch as escapism in December 2020, right?) A demonic rage virus is causing townspeople to attack and infect one another. When an infected nurse tries to turn Sam, Dean decides to stay with him even though it means imminent death. Dean
There's no new podcast episode this week. Sorry. Thanks for listening to this short announcement. If you're in the US, happy Thanksgiving from Dean
This week, Supernatural introduces an important creature to the mytharc: the Crossroads Demon. These red-eyed demons make deals with humans--the human can have whatever they want as long as they allow the demon to collect their soul in ten years. Sam and Dean attempt to save an altruistic man from his demon deal, but the demon proves to be a greater temptress than Dean was expecting. Dean
Special Guest Star Linda Blair (The Exorcist) plays a tough-as-nails police detective investigating Dean for murder (AGAIN) who ends up needing their help when she runs afoul of the vengeful spirit Sam and Dean are hunting. Dean
This week, we're talking about season 2, episode 6, "No Exit." Jo decides she wants to hunt and runs away to Philadelphia to work a case. Dean and Sam get involved when Jo can't handle it on her own. She gets captured by the restless spirit of America's first known serial killer, Henry Howard "H.H" Holmes. Dean
It's Ben Edlund's first Supernatural episode, which means the freaks have come out to play. This week's freaks--I mean, Special Children--are Andy Gallagher, a lovable stoner with the power of psychic mind control and a seriously awesome van, and his Evil Twin, who looks more like Elijah Wood than his "twin brother" and uses the mind control to kill people. Turn on the disco ball and fill your giant bong; it's time for Plushienatural! This week, Dean
Sam and Dean stumble onto yet another case in Lawrence while they’re visiting Mary’s (empty) grave. The case involves an undead college student and the pathetic TA who brought her back with Ancient Greek necromancy. It’s a case that causes bo5h Sam and Dean a great deal of pain—physical in Sam’s case, emotional in Dean’s. As usual, Dean
Sam and Dean run into a fellow hunter, Gordon Walker, on a vampire case who turns out to be Real Bad News. Join us for a deep dive into the psychology of Gordon Walker, played by the amazing Sterling K. Brown before he won his first Emmy, and Dean Winchester. As usual, Dean gives the Recap, Amanda gives the Commentary (and she promises that it's not just 20 minutes of gushing over Sterling K. Brown), and Sammy helps Dean explain how Plushies Make Everything Better. Join us for the most sinister game of Quarters ever!
Season Two gets underway by introducing a new location, the Roadhouse, with its own cast of recurring characters, including crusty bartender Ellen, her daughter Jo, and Ash, an MIT dropout with a mullet straight out of Joe Dirt. Sam and Dean take on a case involving a killer clown from a traveling carnival despite Sam’s crippling coulraphobia. Dean gives us the Plot Recap, Amanda gives the Commentary, Sammy gives us both an LVP and an Honorable Mention, and Dean and Sammy tell us how Plushies Make Everything Better. Join us for a window-smashing, crowbar-bashing good time! 2.02 Everybody Loves a Clown on SuperWiki “Well Done Son” Guy on TVTropes (Live Action TV edition)
We've made it to Season 2! In this episode, we see the fallout from the car crash cliffhanger that ended Season 1. Dean's in a coma and almost dead, John's a lying liar who lies, and Sam's making really unsubtle metaphors involving the totaled Impala. Dean gives the Plot Recap, Amanda gives the Commentary (with a bonus song clip!), and Sammy gives us an LVP and Plushies Make Everything Better. Plushienatural hosts Amanda and Dean attended Creation Entertainment's Supernatural convention in the Washington, DC area from November 1-3, 2019. In this special preseason episode, they recap the con panels as well as their adventures in karaoke, the Saturday Night Special concert, and Jensen Ackles's VIP Meet & Greet session. Audio panel clips were taken from panel videos posted to YouTube by Gayled_it and kreespa. If you'd like to watch the full panels, you can watch Gayled_it's SPNDC 2019 playlist. We made it! It's the end of the first season of Supernatural in episode 22, "Devil's Trap." Longtime Winchester ally Bobby Singer is introduced, the demon possessing Meg is exorcised, killing her body in the process, the boys help John escape the demons--or so they *think*--and we end with one of the most brutal cliffhangers in TV history, with the entire Winchester family, including the Impala, fighting for their lives. As usual, Dean gives the Plot Recap and Best Song, Amanda gives the Commentary, and Sammy gives both a Lore Break and Plushies Make Everything Better...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Special End of Season Awards are given to the Best Song of the Season by Dean, Season Winner and Loser by Sammy, and Best Episode of the Season by Amanda. 1.21 "Devil's Trap" on SuperWiki Key of Solomon on SuperWiki "'Well Done, Son!' The Winchesters are in a tough spot this week in Season 1, Episode 21, "Salvation." Meg's killing John's friends in order to get him to hand over the Colt, which Sam and Dean need in order to kill the Yellow-Eyed Demon, who's planning to attack a family in Salvation, Iowa. The episode ends with John getting captured by Meg and her demon brother and Sam trying to run into a burning building to get revenge on the YED. Dean does the Plot Recap and the Best Song (of the Episode AND the Series), Amanda does the Commentary, in which she talks about why "Carry On Wayward Son" has been her favorite song since she was 12, and Sammy helps Dean explain how Plushies Make Everything Better. We're in the home stretch! This week we're kicking the Season 1 mytharc into high gear with Episode 20, "Dead Man's Blood," in which the death of John's hunter friend at the hands of vampires allows the Winchesters to obtain a weapon that can actually kill their nemesis, the Yellow-Eyed Demon. John's back, by the way, and the tension between him and Sam finally is resolved in a surprisingly calm and quiet fashion. Dean does the Plot Recap, Amanda does the Winchester Family Feels recap as part of her commentary, and Sammy gives out an LVP award in addition to helping Dean explain how Plushies Make Everything Better. This week's episode is a Goth's dream. Season 1, episode 19, "Provenance" features a creepy painting, a creepy doll, and an incredibly creepy little girl whose favorite pastime is giving Colombian neckties. It also has the first potential love interest for Sam, a spunky girl named Sarah who insists on being part of the hunt. Dean gives the Plot Recap and the Best Song of the Episode, Amanda gives the commentary (which includes a special listener giveaway!), and Sammy and Dean explain how Plushies Make Everything Better. 1.19 "Provenance" on SuperWiki "Cartwright Curse" on TVTropes Jodelle Ferland on IMDB
It's a Weechester flashback fiesta this week in Season 1, episode 18, "Something Wicked," in which Dean goes to a small town in Wisconsin at John's insistence to finish a literal witch hunt that John abandoned 16 years prior for reasons we don't find out until 3/4ths of the way through the episode. It's all the angst and guilt you can handle as Dean does the Plot Recap, Sammy gives us the lowdown on the Monster of the Week, and Amanda gives the commentary, a good chunk of which centers on John's terrible parenting. Dean also gives us a really kickass Best Song, and he and Sammy wrap up with Plushies Make Everything Better. 1.18 "Something Wicked" on SupernaturalWiki John Winchester on SupernaturalWiki The infamous Fitchburg sign gaffe
This week, Amanda and the Winchestbears tackle one of her very favorite episodes, Season 1, episode 17, "Hell House." This episode introduces the longest-living characters in the history of Supernatural, a divisive pair who come to be known as the Ghostfacers, whom the Winchesters run into while investigating an unusual ghost in Texas. Dean does his usual Plot Recap, complete with audio clips, and gives us the Best Song of the Episode. Sammy gives us a Lore Break and lets us know how Plushies Make Everything Better. And Amanda gives us a commentary that starts with Beverly Hills 90210 and only gets weirder from there. 1.17 "Hell House" on SuperWiki The Ghostfacers on SuperWiki Travis Wester on IMDB
It's one Hell of an episode this week as we discover the truth about Meg Masters from Andover, MA and her connection to the Monster of the Week. We've also got a bit of a format change, as Dean does the Plot Recap and Amanda does a Feels Recap that goes in-depth into the truckloads of Winchester Family Feels this episode provides. BEWARE: Here there be SPOILERS for Season 14, episode 13, "Lebanon" (aka the 300th episode). If you would like to skip the spoilers, Amanda will let you know when they start, and the Dean's Dirty Guitar riff and the second of silence will let you know where they end. (For the rest of you, we're sorry about the silence, but please have empathy for your fellow unspoiled fans.) It's a most dangerous game this week as Sam gets captured by some real freaks and Dean and his awesome partner Officer Kathleen have to save him from becoming a grilled Sam and cheese. (Sorry, I had to.) Dean does the recap, Amanda does the commentary, and Sammy gives the LVP award to the character who inspired it in the first place. Join us for a real meaty episode. It's the start of Amanda's least favorite plot arc (well, until season 7 rolled around) in Season 1, episode 14, "Nightmare," in which Sam's freaky visions lead him to Michigan and another "special child" named Max who's telekinetically offing his abusive family one by one. Dean does the recap, Amanda does the bitching, and Dean gives us the Best Song of the episode. The only digital way to hear "Lucifer" by Bob Seger 1.14 "Nightmare" on SuperWiki
Oh, "Route 666." Sadly Supernatural Season 1, episode 13 never lives up to the promise of its title, thus wasting a great title on a racist piece of crap. Join Dean for a quick snarky recap before Amanda takes this episode to task for being racist as all get-out due to its two lily-white writers. Dean gives us the Best Song of the episode and Amanda promises that much better episodes are in our future.

In this episode, Dean and Amanda do a Drunken Flash Review of Season 1, episode 11, "Scarecrow." That means Dean does the sober recapping and then Amanda reviews the episode by rambling drunkenly about each scene. It may not be terribly efficient, but it sure is entertaining! A flash review means no dialogue clips, but boy, do we have a treat for you when we clip the Best Song! Tune in for a NEVER-BEFORE-BROADCAST clip of Jensen Ackles and Steve Carlson performing "Bad Company" from NashCon 2011. The sound quality is pretty damn good for being recorded by a pen hidden in someone's sock!
This week we're looking at Season 1, episode 10, "Asylum." Sam and Dean work a case in a haunted insane asylum, which gives Amanda the chance to rant about what Hollywood gets wrong about psychiatry and gives Sammy a chance to weigh in on the lore surrounding "orbs" in photography. For once, Dean doesn't have to play a clip of the Best Song because it's also in the streaming version (what?!). So once Sammy tells us the LVP, Dean and Sammy go right on to tell us how Plushies Make Everything Better. Grab the rock salt and give us a listen!
This week, Amanda and the Winchestbears take a look at Season 1, episode 9, "Home." Amanda has real problems with the way Dean is treated by the episode's guest star, and also with the way the opening credits ruin not one but two surprise appearances. Dean recaps the plot for us, but can't choose a Best Song because the episode has no music! There is also no one who qualifies for LVP, so Sammy and Dean just tell us how Plushies Make Everything Better and also introduce a new interactive segment, Who Would You Hug? You can vote on who needs a hug the most after this episode in three ways: Twitter: @deanwbear79Facebook: facebook.com/plushienatural Instagram: @deanwbear79 We'll tell you the results next episode!
So, we did something a little different this week. First, we covered both 1.07 “Hook Man” and 1.08 “Bugs,” because they’re terrible episodes that Amanda hates so much that she didn’t even stick around to help recap and analyze them. Sammy Winchestbear and Castiel Bear of the Lord guest star this week as cohosts. You’ll find out the difference between Francis and Frances, what ‘90s guilty pleasure show Dean’s been watching, what a Racist Music Cue is, and why the episode “Bugs” never should have actually been filmed. Dean declares the Best Song of the Episode, and Cas joins Dean and Sammy to tell us why Plushies Make Everything Better. If you’d like to give us feedback or send a message to Sammy or Cas, you can email us at plushienatural@gmail.com, leave us a review on iTunes, or find Amanda on Twitter at @sinnerforhire. So, Amanda has some questions, like why the episode is called "Stranger in a Strange Land" when nobody is starting a polyamory cult, why Castiel suddenly doesn't seem to have any angel powers at all, and why Mary/Bobby has to be a thing. She also talks about representation in the character of Sister Jo/Anael, masterfully played by Danneel Ackles. Dean has no answers, but he does have a recap of the episode and plenty of love to offer.
This week, Amanda and the Winchestbears watched Season 1, episode 6, “Skin.” Amanda gushes about the opening scene and the crew who made it possible for 3 times longer than it takes to just watch the thing (which you can do on our website: SPN 1.06 "Skin" Opening Scene Video). Dean recaps the somewhat disgusting plot for us, Sammy gives us some lore on Supernatural’s version of shapeshifters, and Amanda relates some backstory and a bonus clip of Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot” for those of you watching a streaming/digital version with replaced music. (And if you’d like to find out more about music licensing and replacement, check out Previously.TV’s Making the Sausage podcast on the subject: Music Licensing: Something Edgy, Like Coldplay.) Then Sammy crowns an LVP, Dean tells us why the opening scene has the Best Song of the Episode, and Sammy and Dean let us know why Plushies Make Everything Better.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the guiltiest one of all? This week we're looking at season 1, episode 5, "Bloody Mary." It turns out the Bloody Mary of urban legend isn't just a legend in Toledo, Ohio--she's a ghost who's out to punish people with deadly secrets, including Sam Winchester. Find out who needs a plushie hug (or twelve), which underrated Stones song closes the episode, and why Jewish people cover mirrors while sitting Shiva in today's show.
This week, we're looking at season 1, episode 4, "Phantom Traveler." In addition to being a Non-Indicative Title (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NonindicativeName) since there are no actual Phantom Travelers in the episode, it's also an example of Early Installment Weirdness (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EarlyInstallmentWeirdness) surrounding demons and their characteristics. We have two Lore Break segments this week, so you get double the Sammy Winchestbear! Join Dean and Amanda for some classic brotherly banter, a whole lot of nitpicking, and some really great rock music. This week we’re looking at season 1, episode 3, “Dead* in the Water.” As Sam and Dean are “Movin’ On” from Colorado, they pause the search for their dad to take a case at a lake in Wisconsin where people keep mysteriously drowning. Dean bonds with a fellow traumatized child of a dead parent named Lucas, who doesn’t talk and constantly draws pictures related to the case. Dean tries to hit on Lucas’s hot mother Andrea, played by BtVS alum Amy Acker, before she nearly becomes the killer’s latest victim. Learn what classic rock band Dean thinks “rules,” what the Best Song of the episode is, and how Plushies would Make Everything Better in this week’s show. “Dead in the Water” on Superwiki: http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/1.03_Dead_in_the_Water If you’re listening to this on Stitcher, Google Play, or iTunes, then welcome to the Plushienatural family! Join us for a sneak preview of our Patreon Plushiecast, the exclusive podcast only for our patrons! Today we're celebrating Supernatural's 13th birthday (it's old enough for its own Twitter account) with a show about why Dean Winchestbear and Amanda Lynn love Supernatural so much. Join us for an exploration of each main character, including the many reasons why Dean is our favorite fictional character ever, why Sam annoys Amanda so much of the time, and why Castiel is like Data from Star Trek The Next Generation. We also talk about what the show, the SPN Family, and the AKF campaign mean to us.
Today on Plushienatural, we’re looking at season 1, episode 2, “Wendigo.” First we talk about why Sam Needs a Gosh-Darn Hug when we discuss the episode’s (semblance of a) B Plot, and then we take a look at Not Ready For Prime Time Alden Ehrenreich and…some other people, including a hot girl with abandonment issues, in the A Plot. Marvel as Sam goes “Hot Blooded” with rage multiple times and Dean sounds nothing like he will in two seasons! Also, we get a Lore update from Sammy Winchestbear, we give out awards for LVP and Best Song, and Sammy and Dean (Wbear) tell us why Plushies Make Everything Better. Clips Notes (see what I did there?) I am now able to clip from the (US) broadcast version of the episode, so when I mention a song, you’ll actually hear it! I will still note that it’s in the DVD version rather than the streaming version when I know the streaming version has replaced music. In Clip 6, the siren is part of the clip, not outside your house/car. In Clip 7, the baby crying is part of the clip, not a real baby. Some of the clips are just really freaking long and I apologize for that. Most of them are actually cut down from the original versions I made. Plushienatural: A Supernatural Podcast celebrates the soft and cuddly side of Supernatural fandom. Hosted by Amanda Lynn, aka "The Human," and plushie bear Dean Winchestbear, this podcast aims to spread information, love, and joy about Supernatural and its fans. First, Dean and Amanda introduce themselves and introduce the format. Then they take a look at where it all began - season 1, episode 1, "Pilot." Dean and Amanda recap and review the pilot episode, make some suggestions of how to rewrite the "we were raised like warriors" exposition dump in Act 2, gush about the quality of the special effects, and explain how Amanda became a ride-or-die Deangirl in 2006. Lastly, they give out some episode awards for LVP (Lore Valuable Player) and Best Song of the (broadcast/DVD version of the) Episode.
