While AI-generated code, also known as vibe coding, is aiding developers in releasing software faster than ever, it seems to be simultaneously causing a greater number of production failures.According to research carried out by New Relic, 94% of technology leaders think that AI-generated code is of higher quality when it is reviewed, but 78% say they are experiencing more incidents after deployment. Let's explore why this is happening. In the recent episode of the Don't Panic It's Just Data podcast, host Christina Stathopoulos, Founder of Dare to Data, was joined by Nic Benders, Chief Technology Strategist at New Relic to talk about "agent debt,” what happens when AI writes great code that breaks in production, and why SREs (Site Reliability Engineers) are left cleaning it up.Benders states that the issue does not lie with AI itself but rather with a growing phenomenon that he refers to as "agent debt".After gathering telemetry data, New Relic discovered that the core issues stem from Large Language Models (LLMs). These problems date back to the early days of ChatGPT, when the models were remarkably convincing at generating software code.“The code looks really good, but it doesn't work in production. It creates incidents down the road,” he tells Stathopoulos. This is where agent debt comes in.TakeawaysAI-generated code can increase production incidents despite passing code reviews.'Agent debt' is emerging as the AI-era equivalent of technical debt.Observability must extend beyond applications to AI development workflows.Engineering teams should measure AI value—not just token consumption.AI may deliver greater value reviewing code than writing it.SRE agents will compete on data quality, not model intelligence.Human judgement remains essential for high-risk engineering decisions.Chapters00:00 Introduction to the episode and guest00:30 Overview of Nick Benders and New Relic's mission01:14 Impact of AI on software development speed and review process02:55 Shift from coding to downstream operations and role changes06:31 Discrepancy between AI-rated quality and incident reports08:08 Understanding agent debt and its signs09:35 The role of observability in AI-generated code in production12:22 Measuring and understanding agent debt through observability14:10 Rethinking the AI software development lifecycle17:30 Automating code review and process checks with AI20:18 Production debugging and the role of AI in incident management21:09 Use case of SRE agents in production environments24:00 Future trends in SRE agents and data focus25:27 Key advice for using AI tools effectively in software and operationsFor more information on SRE and agent debt, visit newrelic.com and em360tech.com.#AgentDebt #AICodingAgents #AIGeneratedCode #AIObservability #SREAgentsagent debt, agent debt explained, agent debt in software development, AI-generated code failures, AI-generated code incidents, AI coding agents, AI coding agents in production, autonomous coding agents, AI code reliability, AI software reliability, AI technical debt, AI-generated software, AI-generated software observability, observability for AI-generated code, AI observability, software observability, production reliability, production incidents, AI incident management, AI-assisted incident response, SRE agents, AI SRE agents, site reliability engineering, AI code review, AI production readiness, AI developer tools, enterprise software development, LLM-generated code, large language model code, New Relic, Nic Benders

In the lonely grasslands of southeast Kansas, a small roadside inn offered weary travelers a hot meal, a warm bed, and a canvas curtain separating the dining room from the family's living quarters. What guests couldn't see was the trapdoor beneath their feet, or the hammer waiting behind that canvas. Between 1871 and 1873, the Bender family ran one of the most chillingly efficient killing operations in American frontier history. At least a dozen travelers vanished after stopping at their door, seated at the table of honor directly over a hidden pit, never to leave again. When suspicion finally caught up with them, the Benders disappeared into the night, leaving behind an inn full of buried secrets and a manhunt that has never definitively ended. This week on True Crime Tuesdays, we step into the Bender Inn, where hospitality meets murder.

Before Kansas had fully shaken the dust of the frontier from its boots, a small homestead in Labette County became a house of horrors. In the early 1870s, travelers moving along the Osage Trail stopped at the Bender family's roadside inn for a meal, a bed, or a glimpse of Kate Bender—the self-proclaimed healer and spiritualist who promised supernatural insight to the desperate and curious. But behind the canvas curtain inside that one-room cabin, something far darker waited. Known to history as the Bloody Benders, the family—John Bender Sr., Elvira “Ma” Bender, John Jr., and Kate—were accused of luring travelers into their home, attacking them from behind, robbing them, and burying their bodies on the property. When Dr. William York disappeared in 1873 while searching for missing settlers, his brother, Colonel Alexander York, helped lead the investigation that finally exposed the Bender homestead. What searchers found beneath the Kansas soil turned a frontier rumor into a national nightmare. At least eight bodies were reportedly discovered, with some estimates suggesting the Benders may have killed a dozen or more. But before justice could find them, the entire family disappeared. Were they lynched? Did they escape? Did Kate Bender reinvent herself somewhere far from Kansas? More than 150 years later, the Bloody Benders remain part true crime, part prairie ghost story, and part warning: sometimes the most dangerous place on the frontier was the one with a light in the window. In this episode of Hitched 2 Homicide, we're digging into the legend, the facts, the bodies in the orchard, and the mystery of what really happened to America's most infamous serial killer family. What if reigniting your imagination could unlock possibilities for your life and leadership you never thought were possible? In this episode of Leaders of Transformation, Nicole Jansen welcomes back leadership expert, executive coach, and author Greg Cagle to discuss his powerful new book, Reality Benders. Greg shares how our beliefs shape our behaviors, how emotions fuel outcomes, and why most people unknowingly live in reactive cycles instead of intentionally creating the future they truly want. Together, Nicole and Greg explore how to reignite imagination, challenge limiting beliefs, and unlock new possibilities in leadership, business, and life. They also unpack the neuroscience behind transformation, the power of curiosity, and how leaders can become "external catalysts" who help others see beyond current limitations and step into their highest potential. What We Discuss in this Episode Why reality is something we create — not simply something that happens to us The "Reality Cycle" and how thoughts, behaviors, and outcomes reinforce one another Why behavior modification alone rarely creates lasting transformation How beliefs drive behaviors and shape long-term results The hidden role emotion plays in achieving meaningful goals Why imagination is essential for transformation and innovation How curiosity reignites imagination and unlocks possibility Why most people unconsciously limit what they believe is possible How to move beyond survival thinking and create an intentional future The connection between imagination, emotion, and extraordinary outcomes How leaders unintentionally reinforce limiting realities in their teams The difference between focusing on performance gaps vs. reinforcing progress A powerful military case study on belief, performance, and transformation How to become an "external catalyst" for others Highlights and YouTube Chapter Titles 00:00 – Introduction to Reality Bending 02:00 – Why Greg Wrote Reality Benders 04:00 – What "Reality" Actually Means 06:00 – Why Behavior Modification Doesn't Work Long-Term 11:00 – Understanding the Reality Cycle 14:00 – Emotion as Fuel for Transformation 16:00 – Why Most Goals Fail 18:00 – The Military Performance Experiment That Changed Everything 22:00 – Future-Back Leadership vs. Past-Forward Leadership 24:00 – Seeing Yourself Differently First 26:00 – Becoming an External Catalyst for Others 29:00 – How to Reignite Your Imagination 31:00 – Why Most People Settle for Predictable Outcomes 34:00 – Unlocking Infinite Possibilities 37:00 – Final Encouragement for Leaders and Visionaries Episode Show Notes: https://leadersoftransformation.com/podcast/leadership/552-reality-benders-how-to-reignite-your-imagination-and-unlock-infinite-possibilities-with-greg-cagle Check out our complete library of episodes and other leadership resources here: https://leadersoftransformation.com ________
Writer, Michael Elias, talks about growing up in the Catskills, where you had to make your money in the summer to survive the winter, and how that created a lot of tension. He also talks about taking acting classes, dealing with being an actor, and how acting helped him build scenes and characters. He talks about working for Glen Campbell without realizing how talented he was. He discusses his book Benders, L.A. and talks about going to Plato's Retreat and not scoring. He talks about Steve Martin and how The Frisco Kid was not what he originally thought it would be. It was originally supposed to be directed by Mike Nichols and star John Wayne. Carl Reiner may have made The Jerk better. Garry Marshall made Young Doctors in Love better, but some movies simply don't turn out the way you want them to. Michael wants people to know that Jews were all over the West and that minorities helped build this country. He says there was always a hangout somewhere. Mel Brooks was an egalitarian. Michael talks about having many writing partners, including Arnie Kogen, Rich Eustis, and Frank Shaw. He talks about getting kicked off The Ed Sullivan Show, writing for The Tonight Show, and learning from Neil Simon and Ed Weinberger. He wishes he could tell his mother what's going on in his life now and imagines writing letters to her today. He also talks about giving yourself permission to stop reading books halfway through. He remembers me playing with the microphone at my bar mitzvah. He talks about paying rent at forty-two dollars a month while working as a substitute teacher. His father, a doctor, never really understood what he did until he saw the pilot of Head of the Class. Howard Hesseman had demands even though he was about to be fired. Bio: Michael Elias grew up in the Catskill Mountains, a Red Diaper Borscht Belt Baby in a world of artists, intellectuals, tumlers, folk singers, boxers, and Jewish gangsters, some of whom sleep at the bottom of Loch Sheldrake. His childhood heroes were Jerry Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Rocky Marciano, and Abe ‘Kid Twist' Reles. Educated in the classics at St. John's College, Elias took his knowledge of ancient Greek and philosophy to New York, trained at the Actors Studio, acted in The Living Theatre, La MaMa and the Judson Poets Theatre. From there Elias and Frank Shaw dove into the world of stand-up comedy, playing coffee shops, night clubs, with five stints on The Tonight Show. Fired from Ed Sullivan they abandoned the act and came to Hollywood where he and Shaw wrote sit-coms, variety shows, and The Frisco Kid. After parting ways, Elias participated in the anti-Vietnam War movement, earned a subpoena from a Nixon grand jury, and teamed up with Rich Eustis and created Head of the Class. Elias continues to write novels and screenplays in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife Bianca Roberts and their dachshund Mabel. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay realize hope is a dangerous thing while sitting down to watch the highest rated movie on IMDb, 'The Shawshank Redemption.' Bombay starts off the episode by remembering an insane Valentine's Weekend bender that ended with watching this movie, and promptly realizing that was the wrong call. Then the guys discuss whether this is the most overrated movie of all-time. After a ridiculous run on cable that saw 'Shawshank' play practically around the clock for 12 years it may just be the most watched movie of all-time. There's a toothlessness to the prison portrayed, which has the boys sharing stories about the bids their dad did behind bars. Ultimately, Bombay and Andy decide while the movie is severely overrated there's still enough good qualities to have you tuning in for more, the foremost being Morgan Freeman incredible voiceover work. The episode ends with them breaking down the impossibility of Andy Dufresne's escape, and wondering if he and Red got down carnally when they reconnected in Mexico.

In 1870, a “family” called the Benders moves to Labette County in southern Kansas. There are four people in the group, but no one in the area fully understands the relationship between them. They build a small cabin near a well-used trail and offer the space as an inn for travelers. Before long, strange activities and criminal acts are reported at the Bender cabin. And then, travelers go missing. Thanks to our sponsor, Quince! Welcome to This Year in Work! As we countdown to Christmas, we've pulled together the standout moments from our Tuesday episodes across 2025 — the stories, segments and listener questions that defined the year. From new workplace vocabulary to tech scandals, CEO tantrums and the wildest listener dilemmas, this episode is a celebration of everything that made TWIW what it is. Word of the Year: Duck Shuffler Our unanimous pick. A perfect term for those colleagues making a lot of noise on the surface while quietly shuffling chaos underneath. Straight from Episode 202 — and yes, the Bosnia-and-Herzegovina reference still makes sense in context. Stories of the Year: Big Toddler Energy When we first discussed CEOs behaving like overgrown toddlers, we didn't expect the avalanche of DMs, confessions, and even a YouTube thumbnail featuring us as actual toddlers. From Episode 196. Rule-Bending Leaders From Episode 200, the unforgettable debate on rule-breaking founders… including Al's confession about his beer-delivery business days. The Great Employment Heist Episode 214 gifted us one of the wildest workplace stories of the year: a single engineer secretly working for 22 startups and earning over $1m without doing the work. Hot Take of the Year: Gossip is Good Rebecca Taylor argued that workplace gossip isn't just normal — it's useful. One of our most talked-about segments of the year (Episode 194). Truth or Lies of the Year: The triangle that never was. From Episode 240, the myth-busting moment that sent LinkedIn into meltdown. Workplace Surgery Question of the Year: My Ex is My New Boss!! From Episode 180 — still one of the most awkward, gripping dilemmas we've ever received.
