August Dupin to solve the crime, and stop the Dastardly Depilator stalking the Rue Morgue before it’s too late. So when the Little Strawberry-Haired Girl, Lenore, sends this tortured soul a Tell-Tale Valentine, Eddie Poe must take drastic measures to preserve his sanity and hide his secret love. So when Christmas Eve production grinds to a halt after captain of industry Jacob Marley falls into the whirling knives and gears of Soylent Scrooge, it's up to intrepid Food Inspector Bucket to get to the bottom of things. It's a black-hearted conspiracy that eats away at the very heart and soul of the British Empire ... and all strands of the crooked web lead back to Marley and his business partner, Ebenezer Scrooge! Can Scrooge survive the dogged sleuthing of Bucket, all while being haunted by the ghosts of Christmas? Cannibalism! Canning! Atrocious English Accents! The Revival League proudly presents an original comedy-horror spoof of Orson Welles’s famous science fiction radio play, “The War of the Worlds.” It’s All Hallows Eve, 1939. Depression-era America goes blissfully about its trick or treating and Halloween parties, or tuning their Philco radios to the Independence Broadcasting Systems to laugh along with, “Clobber McGee & Irish Dave.” But America is startled when a massive alien cylinder slams into the New Jersey countryside, sending the Independence Broadcasting Systems news team scrambling to cover the extraordinary event. Soon cylinders are slamming into cities all over the United States and the world. Inside them are menacing Martian tripods, tall as skyscrapers, and armed with deadly alien technology. The body count rises and the Eastern Seaboard falls before the Martian onslaught, as the world’s combined military might proves not enough to stop the invasion. Humanity itself is threatened with extinction, and a team of earnest news reporters brings Armageddon right into your living room!
