On a special episode of the podcast, comic book expert Erik Laws returns to join Erik Childress to discuss the much ballyhooed release of Marvel's team-up of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman meant to correct past sins and hopefully plug the creative and success leak of their recent output. Does the film live up to its promise? Are the stakes there or is it just a service for the fans? How does its cameos and surprises measure up and is it weird to take shots at what is supposed to be an ally now? They also weigh in on the latest news of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, what his appearance as Victor Von Doom could mean and is it just an act of desperation to combat the comic book fatigue which may finally be real?
Somehow, we dive deep into the 1987 film, Zombie Nightmare. Discussing everything from its troublesome production to the 2015 Blu-ray from Code Red. From the people that brought you Hellraiser and Night Patrol (you read that right) comes 1989's HELLGATE. This movie stars Ron Palillo (Welcome Back Kotter) and a group of actors who weren't in Welcome Back Kotter as students (?) who's weekend getaway turns to terror when they're lured to a ghost town (?) called Hellgate. This movie has everything. Is it a horror movie? Is it a sci-fi movie? Is it a comedy? Is it a producer's attempt to showcase their enviable car collection? The answer to all these questions is, "yes". We talk about the sadly overlooked traveling model industry, the lasting appeal of 1950's diners, and the challenges with using metal plates instead of band aids. We also talk about boners more in this episode then ever before so you have that to look forward to. We also debate whether Josie (the lead ghost in the movie) is trying to seduce Matt (Ron Palillo) for love or just so that he'll take over her daily chores. This movie ranks high on our "fun meter". If you liked ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE, then you owe yourself to take HELLGATE out for a spin. Just watch out for brick walls.
For our 100th episode, The Cinemast Podcast is coming to you from a live audience at HorrorFest International! Right after a surprise late screening of Chuck Russell's THE BLOB from 1988, Brandon linked up with Jamison Newlander who plays Alan Frog in THE LOST BOYS and the movie theater usher in THE BLOB, as well as Frank Dietz from ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE and BLACK ROSES to discuss the film!
This months starts #VIDtober, where we exclusively discuss the movies released by New World Video! We being back guest Dirk Marshall of the VH US Podcast to help us break down 1987's Canadian tax shelter movie ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE! Adam West headlines a movie filled with so many choices, he doesn't even show up for 45 minutes! It all starts with a group of trendy teens, played by Tia Carrere and director (and bad boy) Shawn Levy, who accidentally kill a heroic baseball player who loves Wheat Germ. But, as they soon find out, dead men have a way of returning, with milky eyes and an occasional limp! Listen as we marvel at this delightful film and the world it contains, where the best cheese is bought at liquor stores, tennis is the purest aphrodisiac, and everyone is one jacuzzi dip away from getting pink mouth! In this week's episode, the FM crew are caught with their sweatpants down after a wild and crazy October and realize Gnarvember is already in full swing. Trying to formulate a plan to appease the Rock Gods, Forever Midnight stage dives right into the 1987 film “Zombie Nightmare”! They would come to realize very quickly that among the many things this film lacks, a Rock-N-Roll band is numero uno. After surrendering to Thor's super strength and an awkward ass Adam West the guys in true FM fashion finish the film and are left feeling a lot less Rock-n-Roll and a whole lot more Rick Rolled.
Brian and Angelo unpack this week's Unleashed Apple event. Good news, plebs: Macbook ports are back. They then share some ideas for spooky stuff to watch, just in time for Halloween (one of Brian's top 3 holidays, up there with National Friendship Day and Arbor Day).

On this week's episode of the Revival League Podcast, Ron has a wide-ranging conversation with Loryn Stone, editor in chief of Toy Wizards and PopLurker and writer for Cracked.com. Meanwhile, Greg and Ryan discuss the podcast's Rondo Hatton Award nomination (no, we couldn't believe it either), Frank Dietz's upcoming live reading of "Zombie Nightmare", and, or course, the weather. At length. Again. All this and holy mackerel we were nominated for a RONDO AWARD! WHAT?!? On this week's episode of the Revival League Podcast! Hearken back to Renaissance England, when Queen Elizabeth I ruled, and Sir Francis Drake circled the globe, and the great playwright and Immortal Bard Edward D. Wood Jr. dominated the stage. The Revival League is proud to present, in radio play form, a classic production of Ed Wood's "The Tragicall Historie of Plan the IX," with Dana Gould; original theme song by Greg "Storm" DiCostanzo of Paul and Storm; Tim Blaney from "Men In Black" and "Short Circuit," Frank Dietz from "Zombie Nightmare," and Jackey Raye Neyman Jones from "Manos: Hands of Fate." And be sure to tune in next week for Part 2, with more alien menaces, more undead ghouls, more stupid humans, and much more Dana Gould!

Frank Dietz is known in “Mystery Science Theater 3000” circles for his role as Detective Frank Sorrell in “Zombie Nightmare.” But chances are, if you saw and loved a Disney animated movie of the late ‘90s or early ‘00s, Dietz played a part as a talented animator: “Hercules,” “Mulan,” “Tarzan,” “Fantasia 2000,” “Atlantis: The Lost Empire.” Dietz also reminisces over working with Adam West (“Batman 66”, “Family Guy”). Ryan is out sick this week, so stand-up comic Robb Maynard joins Greg and Kate in the studio. The podcast gang celebrates Rifftrax’s successful Kickstarter to bring “Krull” and “Space Mutiny” to the big screen. And in the Mini Soda Review, the podcast gang drinks “Old Dominion,” a delicious root beer from Virginia. In “Music! Science! Cats!,” Kate explains how chimerism fuses embryos into single organisms that are half-and-half rarities. Robb and Greg review the Rachel McAdams/Jason Bateman comedy, “Game Night.” All this, and a BBC nature special where Sir David Attenborough says, “fuck it,” and fracks a sperm whale for its oil, on this week’s episode of the Revival League Podcast!

This turkey - one of his few horror films - has to be one of the absolute best so-bad-it's-good horror flops. Once you're done hearing us riff on it, head over to Netflix for the MST3K episode.

Up front, we'll let you know that this episode is a pack of lies. We discussed the mystery of 8 inches of penis extensively, but Joe didn't think you needed to hear that and cut it out. The rest of the episode is pretty good, though. We discuss Zombie Nightmare with as much aplomb as you can without talking about 8 inches of penis. Also, we're interrupted by a teenager and goes about as well as you can imagine.Host segments:The tastiest zombie (cocktail), Jeff tells us the thing about the 80s, What is "The Site?", Bat-bago, Claire-us Interruptus, Metalhead Affluenza, Do You Even Podcast, Brah?

In this episode of the Revival League Podcast, we chat with the one and only Kevin Murphy! My grandmother was a lot of things: an abstract expressionist painter, a social worker, a collector of antiques. But as far as the internet is concerned, she had just one real claim to fame: she was the associate producer of Zombie Nightmare (1987), a movie so bad it's featured on the IMDb's "Bottom 100" list. Strangely, it stars Adam West and Tia Carrere. In this episode, I do a deep dive into this extremely minor footnote in my family’s history. I rewatch the movie and try to get to bottom of what makes it so bad, and I also reach out to people who were actually involved in creating it. Terrible movies don’t make themselves. A movie this bad has to have a lot of secrets.
