God writes such beautiful stories even out of our brokenness. Relational. Faith. Wonder. Purpose. One of our goals on the RFWP is to #UntwistNarratives that keep women from being able to step into their God given callings and narratives that make them feel less than. When Emily saw this statement by John MacArthur, she knew she needed to do some digging into the context of Isaiah 3:12 because this verse has been weaponized to say that if women lead, it's a curse from God. Lois looked up commentaries and together they worked through this verse in context.Because this is a common thing women, we knew this was an important conversation to have on air as well. While we appreciate the impact the preaching and exposition John MacArthur has had on the Church, we all need to remember to keep the main thing the main thing and not bring our politics into how we are reading scripture.Let us know in the comments if you agree or disagree with our take on this. Look forward to hearing from you! To get #Untwisting the Narrative merch https://sisterseeker.com/shop To support the show https://patreon.com/sisterseeker
Lois and Emily are talking about how to remove the fear in making decisions and how to hear the voice of God in your life.
Today we are talking about the woman that Jesus had the longest recorded conversation with in the Bible! We untwist the narrative that Jesus was there to condemn or merely call her out. At some point in our lives, we've all been like the woman at the well and we can learn a lot about God's gentleness and character in how Jesus handled this conversation and went out of his way to reach this hurting and broken woman. This week's sponsor is Scripture Flips! Sometimes as Christians the saying, "Just Trust God" gets said without enough nuance or weight. In this episode we dive into how to learn to trust God again even after it feels like his trust is broken. We can learn again that he is trustworthy and that we can on him to come through. We talk about learning and re-learning to trust God through the story of Abraham and Isaac and how that story ends with Abraham calling God Jehovah-Jireh: Provider, the God who will see it through. Are you ready for a loaded episode!? We have it all! Dad Joke Challenge, Truth Bombs, Scripture, and we even brought back the Open Mic Minute. This episode was recorded LIVE at the Midwest RFP Fam MeetupWe pray that your heart is encouraged and your faith is bolstered. Emily and Lois
While at the Missouri Meet-up, Lois and Emily had the privilege of interviewing April Deerey, live and in-person! Her story of having an abusive Father is one that is all too familiar; she shares her story of escaping her abusive father with her mom.And then she talks about her how she found out she would never be able to carry children because of a rare health diagnosis. She sheds light on how the church environment made her feel less than because she couldn't have any children. Her story is also one of redemption as we see her husband, James, love her so well. There is so much to learn from April's story to help us all recognize and overcome some stigmas or presuppositions that we may have. Overall, this story is about worth and acceptance for exactly who you are and we end the episode with a story of how her husband, James, has demonstrated this so beautifully. Hope it is a blessing to you!https://linktr.ee/sisterseeker.com

This week we have another #sisterseeker story for you! Lois is taking the week to spend more time with family. Her little grand daughter was born on Saturday, August 14th at 28 weeks ad weighing just under 2 lbs. She is strong and passing milestones already. Thank you for your prayers and support for them. God's hand and faithfulness have been so evident! We chose to air this episode a week early to give her more space with family. And boy! I (Emily) may be biased, but this week's episode is so good! We had the privilege of interviewing my Granny and I got chills again as I was editing this episode. We covered what it was like for her on the outside looking in as we were part of the toxic, high-control religious environment that I grew up in. She talks about 30 years of praying for us to get out and the importance of faithfulness in prayer, even if you don't see results. So much goodness. I am sure this episode will be a huge blessing to you and an encouragement to keep going, keep believing, and to keep praying.
