A tiny bit of tech has delivered a big result for a Palmerston North family - reuniting twins three and a half years after one of them went missing. Moss the moggie was adopted with his brother, Roy, from the SPCA in Hamilton and moved with them to Palmerston North, but shortly afterwards he went missing without a trace, despite all efforts to track him down. That's until three and a half years later when Moss's mum Melanie Fellowes got a phone call from her mother-in-law who had just heard from the SPCA in Hastings about 130km away.
The Defense Department has issued a request for information on a study of finance. Market strategist Lawrence McDonald, creator of The Bear Traps Report, says that the Federal Reserve is not "going to get rid of inflation with six months of rate hikes," which is a big reason why he is calling for market doldrums that amount to several years of mostly sideways. While not anticipating a big crash, McDonald says that investors should avoid the Standard & Poor's 500 and Nasdaq Composite indexes -- which he says have been destroyed of late -- and instead pursue emerging markets and value stocks. Also on the show, David Schiffman, manager of the Aquila High Income Fund (ATPAX), says that the current environment for high-yield bonds is unlike anything he has seen in his long career, noting that there is a lot of push and pull between mixed economic numbers; Schiffman says the junk-bond space "is in much better shape" than before central bankers started raising traits and he expects to see that improvement continue. And in the Danger Zone segment, David Trainer singles out Tesla and Twitter as prime examples of the many stocks with inflated street earnings that could lead to a bad beat when the quarterly numbers are issued over the next few weeks.

Beginning in 1975 New Jersey State Trooper Bob Delaney went undercover to infiltrated the Genovese, Bruno and DiNorscio Crime families. Knowing all the while that a single slip could get him killed. Ultimately gathering enough evidence to convict 30 members of the Bruno, DiNorsico and Genovese crime families, Project Alpha was a success, but Delaney struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder and traces of Stockholm syndrome after getting too close to those he investigated. In this third part of this podcast with Bob Delaney, he talks openly and honestly about his PTSD and the great work he is doing to help military, first responder and health care professionals. We talk about his book ‘Surviving the Shadows' that is an uplifting journey through powerful and inspiring stories―marked by perseverance and personal courage―about an array of people who have suffered directly or indirectly from Post-Traumatic Stress. Delaney introduces you to medical experts who have developed groundbreaking methods in dealing with the disorder, and profiles one-of-a-kind programs around the country devoted to assisting PTSD sufferers. We also talk about Bob's soon to be released book, ‘Heroes are Human' - Lessons in Resilience, Courage and Wisdom from the COVID Front Lines. This book is a must-read for health care workers who have been besieged by the ongoing pandemic, for those who love them, and for any reader wanting to gain a deeper understanding of their immense sacrifices and struggles. Heroes are Human also offers invaluable self-care insights in the face of trauma and gripping first-hand accounts by those thrust into the depths of the crisis. Bob Delaney is a former undercover New Jersey state trooper and professional basketball referee in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Bob is a 1985 graduate of New Jersey City University with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology. After finishing college, Delaney joined the New Jersey State Police. During the mid-1970s, Delaney worked as an undercover officer as part of an operation known as "Project Alpha". His book ‘Covert', is a riveting page-turner, NBA referee Bob Delaney reveals the clandestine life he led before becoming one of professional basketball's most respected referees. In 1975, Delaney had spent only a year and a half as a New Jersey State Trooper when his superiors approached him with a tantalizing yet dangerous undercover assignment: to infiltrate the Mob. Delaney accepted, and became Bobby Covert, the president of Alamo Trucking, a fully-operational business used by law enforcement as flypaper for snagging crooks. At the height of The Godfather era, Delaney wore a wire and lived among wiseguys who modeled themselves on their on-screen counterparts, quoting lines from “The Movie” and boasting of how often they'd seen it. Delaney even crossed paths with Joe Pistone, the real-life Donnie Brasco (though neither knew the other was undercover), knowing all the while that a single slip could get him killed. Ultimately gathering enough evidence to convict 30 members of the Genovese , Bruno and DiNorscio Crime Families. Project Alpha was a success, but Delaney struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder and traces of Stockholm syndrome after getting too close to those he investigated. Therapy helped him come to terms with all he'd endured during his three tense years undercover, and, once a college basketball star, Delaney began officiating high school and intramural games as a way to rebuild his life—eventually working his way up to the NBA, where he has been a referee for more than two decades. “Covert” is available at: amazon.com To learn about Bob Delaney's work and order is books: delaneyconsultants.com

While we talk a lot about the expectations of LSU football in 2022, I don't have the conversation enough about where this team will be and could be in the next three to five years. Luckily Adam Rittenberg of ESPN did that for us. Rittenberg brought out his own personal college football crystal ball to project which teams will be top 25 over the next three years. Where is LSU listed and why? Is it too high, too low, or just right? Is three years enough time for Brian Kelly to prove himself not just to Tigers fans, but to the rest of the doubters around college football? Plus, BetOnline released their official over/under win totals for each team in the SEC. What is their projection for LSU? Does Las Vegas predict LSU to have a big year in year one under Brian Kelly, or does it predict that the Tigers will be struggling to make a bowl competing amongst the likes of Alabama and Texas A&M? On today's podcast, I had Matt Onofrio! If you don't know Matt, you need to! This guy from 0 to over $100 million in net worth in just three years! It's absolutely crazy, but true! He's shown me his bank account to prove it! This guy is legit and is killing the game! He has a unique way of investing in real estate that you never hear people talking about. He is doing triple net leases. Now, as someone in commercial real estate right now buying apartments, what Matt is doing seems like a far easier opportunity and a safer opportunity due to how triple net leases work. He goes in depth on this episode about why exactly that is, why he's pursuing it, and how he stumbled upon it while growing up wanting to be an anesthesiologist. It's a really good episode! We go in-depth on what he wants to do - becoming a billionaire, what's driving him to even still continue to grow his companies and net worth, as well as what it's like having Ed Mylett as a mentor. And then he turns the tables on me and starts asking me about things that drive me, and what are some of the things I have planned - some of which I haven't revealed yet! This episode is a poignant one. Yes, believe it or not, this is the final episode of HandCut Radio. After three years and more than 50 episodes, we're hanging up our microphones to pursue new projects. But, before we go, we wanted to respond to one frequent request that's come up while we've made this podcast. A surprising number of you have been in touch to ask whether someone could possibly interview Aleks, and now they have. For this special sign-off episode we asked Paul Croughton, editor-in-chief of the Robb Report to quiz our host on everything we've learned in speaking to so many fascinating and successful people for HandCut Radio. A huge thank you to Paul from the whole team here for taking some time out to record this finale episode. We very much hope you enjoy.
