Jess, who is usually not a prequel fan, is surprised by how invested she was in this book - and not just because she wanted more information about the Blood and Ash Series. Sera and Ash's story has captured them both, and that cliffhanger (in true JLA fashion) really left them wanting more. Kendall needs a chart to try and remember the family trees and the hierarchy of deities in this world. They are both as invested as ever in having a god of death as the male lead in this series, but are left with some burning unanswered questions. Readers get a much-needed history lesson for the Blood and Ash series in this equally intriguing fantasy novel. Once again, Kendall and Jess are both always here for any kind of death god - it's just hot. They are both feeling much more clear on the events of A Crown of Gilded Bones after reading this one. Jess is very much not into the way a certain Primal god went all emo-sad-boi on Sera when things got tough, but she still loves him and very much loves that he is a ~quick study~. Kendall is loving the dark streak in Sera and appreciates the way she stands up for herself and doesn't take any shit. The ending of this book left them both wanting more! Jess is not a fan of love triangles, but she's happy to revisit this one - even though she wishes a certain baker's son was a bit taller. They are both 100% here for the casting in this movie though, and are happy to look at Liam Hemsworth on screen in any case.
