Tune in as Fake-Dating February kicks off on 2CC in honor of the hijinks and machinations that turn artificial love into authentic love! For this first podcast of the month, Arthur's buddy Anna (@banananna024/@formergleek) is circling back around for a review and recap of To All the Boys I've Loved Before, the 2018 Netflix rom-com whose fake-dating scheme that Lara Jean Song Covey and Peter Kavinsky cook up is based on the 2014 YA romance novel of the same name by Jenny Han. The hygienic importance of not wearing shoes in the house, the shaky state of teen media that can be found on streaming and on Netflix specifically, Arthur's rant against Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles, and cheering for Lana Condor and Noah Centineo to have bigger careers comprise just some of the subjects for this episode. Directed by Susan Johnson, To All the Boys I've Loved Before stars Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Israel Broussard, Madeleine Arthur, Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, Emilija Baranac, John Corbett, Trezzo Mahoro, and Andrew Bachelor. Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with books by AAPI authors! It's one of the prompts on the Winter-Spring 2024 Books & Bites Bingo reading challenge. Our suggestions include an action-packed adventure tale, a YA romance, and a comic but realistic immigration story. Michael's PickThe Thousand Crimes of Ming Tsu by Tom Lin begins with Ming Tsu traversing the salt flats of the Utah Territory, making his way to a Union Pacific camp to kill a man. The past couple years, Ming Tsu had been serving his sentence laboring for the railroad, all because he made the mistake of falling in love and marrying the daughter of a railroad baron. This is an action-packed, cinematic adventure tale full of brawls, gunfights, showdowns, betrayal, and ambushes. It also gives a peek at the xenophobia and racism experienced in the Old West by Chinese immigrants and marginalized folks. Pairing: Pit Beans is a hearty dish that's perfect for any cowboy.Jacqueline's PickEmergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi is about two young people, Penny and Sam, whose awkward meeting results in them exchanging numbers and promising to be each other's emergency contacts because neither of them has a reliable parent. Their friendship grows via text as they find themselves texting one another non-stop.Fans of Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before will enjoy this novel. Both novels have fresh Asian American voices and similar story arcs.Pairing: A flat white espresso.Carrie's PickIn The Chinese Groove by Kathryn Ma, main character Shelley is an 18 year old Chinese student eager to seek his fortune in the United States, where he plans to win back his girlfriend by becoming a famous poet. His "foolproof plan" hits some snags as soon as his flight lands in San Francisco.Though the characters, including Shelley, are all grieving, his comic and somewhat satirical voice keep the tone hopeful. Fans of The Wangs vs. the World will appreciate this character-driven and intricately plotted book.Pairing: Steamed Sea Bass with Ginger and Spring Onion, a recipe from Every Grain of Rice: Simple Chinese Home Cooking by Fuschia Dunlop.

Netflix's XO, Kitty star Jocelyn Shelfo joins The Art Of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul to discuss working on a dude ranch, acts of kindness during her acting career, working alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in May December and more. Born and raised just outside Atlanta, GA, Jocelyn Shelfo began acting in high school. She soon found herself lighting up the screen. I first saw Jocelyn as spunky debutante Marissa on Amazon's The Summer I Turned Pretty. However, she is perhaps most known as the K-Pop loving, boarding school student Madison in Netflix's Xo, Kitty, the spinoff series of Jenny Han's To All The Boys I've Loved trilogy. Jocelyn also has a supporting role in a film buzzing through this awards season: May December starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman. To All The Boys is the story of Lara Jean Covey - LJ, played by Lana Condor. Lara Jean writes 5 letters dedicated to all the boys she's ever loved. The letters were never sent, just a way for her to express her emotions… until… somehow… the letters get mailed. Of the 5 letters sent, 3 of them are pretty notable, including one sent to Lara's older sisters ex boyfriend Josh played by Israel Broussard. There is also a letter sent to Kenny, played by Edward Kewin. And finally a letter is sent to Peter Kavinsky played by Noah Centineo. Also want to mention Anna Cathcart who plays Lara Jean's younger sister Kitty. Janel Parrish plays the older sister Margot. John Corbett plays Dr Covey, Lara Jean's father.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Kendall and Jess discuss the tumultuous season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on the book It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han. In an episode where one TSITP girl read the book first and one dove into the show without reading, there are a lot of opinions flying around. Jess has some VERY strong feelings about this particular love triangle, and Kendall lays out all of the differences between the book and the show and which one she likes better. Listen to find out whether they're Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah (as if there's even a real choice here, besties), and why their favorite relationship in this series has nothing to do with Belly, Jer, or Connie at all! Thanks for listening! Let's talk all about Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty! Megan and Jeni discuss Conrad's and Jeremiah's red flags, fun facts about the cast of TSITP, and Jenny Han. Most importantly, they reveal whose team they're on! (Can you believe they managed to keep it a secret from each other until now?) And for their fellow Swifties, of course they talk about the cast's love for Taylor Swift and the songs they used in the show. Follow us on social! The series made its debut on May 18, 2023, and serves as a captivating spin-off from the beloved To All the Boys film series, which itself is an adaptation of Han's enthralling book trilogy, To All the Boys I've Loved Before. What sets XO, Kitty apart is that it marks the first time Netflix has expanded a Netflix original film into a television series. Since its release, the show has garnered praise from critics, who have commended its compelling storyline and engaging characters. Such positive feedback prompted the series to be renewed for a second season in June 2023, further solidifying its popularity. In this episode, we are joined by KiKi, a journalist and avid viewer of movies and TV shows. It feels like the summer is only just beginning, yet our time reading Jenny Han's hit YA-trilogy turned hit Amazon Prime Show: The Summer I Turned Pretty is already coming to a close. Join Meggie and Laura for a romantic stroll down season-wrap-up lane where they're giving their final opinions on the series as a whole, the ultimate love triangle that was Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad, and all the nostalgia and summer vibes they felt along the way. Season 10 will forever be in our hearts so get ready for where we're going for Season 11.
Always and forever besties, just remember you'll always have Laura and Meggie ready to talk YA with you. It's the final book of Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy and it's a couple years after Belly and Jeremiah drove off into the sunset together. The couple is still going strong, but after Belly discovers Jeremiah had a one-time hookup during their brief breakup (uh-oh), the pair decide to get married to prove their love (SAY WHAT?!). The summer drama continues as Belly ends up staying in Cousins with Conrad while Jeremiah works. It's the ultimate final showdown for this love triangle, who will wind up with who? And who will be left heartbroken?
and Laura reading the second book in Jenny Han's Summer trilogy: It's Not Summer Without You. One year after Belly and Conrad kissed at Cousins Beach and finally seemed to get somewhere in their relationship, we discover that it came to a screeching halt pretty quickly. Belly is at home for the summer, single, and grieving Susannah's recent death. After Conrad goes MIA, our favorite summer love triangle ends up back at the summer house and Jeremiah's got his eyes set on Belly. Parties, lingering feelings, and drama will ensue!!!
It wouldn't be the summer of YA, We Read It!'s 10th season without diving into a series about all of our favorite summer things: beach houses, love triangles, and plenty of drama. And thankfully for us: Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty has everything we could have asked for and more! Belly is once again visiting Cousins Beach for the summer, where the dreamy Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, are both on her mind and living just down the hall. Will she fall in love and have the summer of a lifetime? Or does the universe have something else in store? Tune in as your very pretty (and only getting prettier) summer hosts Laura and Meggie discuss the romance and nostalgia!

Mas Vida is a simple sideways shawl that is written for 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn but can be knit up in any yarn you choose. There isn't a single purl in the project, and the eyelets are easy to work. Many of you will only need to reference the pattern occasionally once you understand the basic increases and increase repeats. I designed this to take along on a European vacation. I wanted something with a bit of interest, but that wouldn't be too large, wouldn't require too much brain space and that wouldn't work up too quickly (as smaller travel projects tend to do). - Note - This pattern has already been Tech Edited & Test Knit, so it should be smooth sailing! On a Happy Note I went to see Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan with Megg, Tom & Matt. Seeing my 11 year old niece perform in Matilda. Zach's 1st birthday dinner.
