Camille and Luis enjoy a playful conversation about the trendiness of terms including DEI, decolonization, woke-ness, Queer, witch, and liberal. Trends are cut off from the deep rooted culture of the thing itself, and therefore come and go. Luis reveals how the appropriation of these words into trends feels in his body and why. They discuss intent and impact before conversation flows to decolonizing versus re-indigenizing. A question forms, are we dominating or relating to our body, the land, and others? True healing, whether in the DEI or decolonizing realms, takes time and space to go deeper and root. The speedy passing of trends does not allow for this rooted healing to occur. Discussion includes exploring inclusion as holding space for each person to have their own opinions, knowing we will not all agree. Consensus and rules, or mandates, do not equate to inclusion. They acknowledge the roots of the term Liberal as "Big Tent", as an inclusive place that holds many perspectives.Essentially, is something a dissociative trend, or is it culture, deeply rooted and healing? In February 2023, Tracii Hutsona was sentenced to 51 months in Federal Prison for her crimes against Joumana Kidd, and given until April 13th to voluntarily turn herself in to the US Marshals. She ended up turning herself in on March 20th, about a month early, to the prison camp at FCI Phoenix. At first glance, it might seem that Tracii was eager to take responsibility for her actions and start serving her well deserved sentence. In this week's episode, we'll wrap up this story by bringing you up to speed on where things stand today. I'll walk you through the REAL reasons Tracii turned herself in early. We'll take a look at Tracii's first-hand account of life in federal prison through her blog, and we'll cover the different motions she filed in the hopes of reducing her time. Will this story end with Tracii serving out her 51 month punishment as the Court intended? Or, will she manage to find a workaround and get her sentence reduced? In this Halloween-themed episode, Daniel and Garet dive into the season of spookiness and villains, exploring the idea of embracing your inner “villain” as a way of living authentically. With the season of costumes and haunted houses setting the tone, they ask: Why do we sometimes feel like villains for simply being ourselves? As they discuss everything from favorite Halloween characters to how villains in pop culture own their power, the conversation shifts to something deeper—how embracing confidence and setting boundaries can be perceived as “villainous” by others. They explore the balance between empathy and self-assurance, discussing their own experiences of when they've been perceived as villains for putting themselves first. Ultimately, this episode is about owning your choices and celebrating your authentic self, villain era and all! Key Episode Highlights:Halloween Vibes: Daniel and Garet reminisce about Halloween traditions and their favorite villains.Villain Energy: A discussion on why being confident, assertive, and authentic can sometimes make you feel like a “villain” in others' eyes.Setting Boundaries: Insights into how people-pleasing and being overly empathetic can hold you back from living your truth.Balancing Empathy and Self-Confidence: Garet shares his journey of learning to stop disarming others and instead embracing his own power.Pop Culture Villains: From Maleficent to House of Villains, Daniel and Garet discuss why we love watching villains thrive and how that energy can inspire our real lives. ___SUPPORT THE SHOW ON PATREONJoin our Patreon!
