Mysterious Drones/UFO's Appearing Around The World, Yet The Global Governments Know Nothing...
Well that was confusing. When Nicola Willis blew up Kiwirail's plan for new ferries she promised a better plan, and yesterday we got that plan. They're going to form a new company to buy some ferries. No news about which ferries and what format they're in. Nothing about what's happening portside. There was also an invitation to private industry to come up with a better solution. So no new ferries, no new ports, no ships ordered, and no idea that private industry already provides a service, that is Bluebridge. It was an announcement of an announcement, which we already lampooned the last government with. It was ideological. It was government spending and this government doesn't like that so they cancelled it without thinking about the long term consequences. It was not based on business practice, or financial logic. It was not on brand and it's harming reputationally. Put this in business terms, they broke a contract for ships that was a good deal. Okay, maybe you thought they were too big, but it was a bloody good price for what they were - $550 million. But breaking the contract puts a flag above our head, not to mention the break fee. Now we have a company desperately in the market and the providers of new boats or second hand realise our weakened position. The government just needs a boat to save their face, and sellers will no longer sharpen their pencils. Meanwhile portside costs continue to escalate. In a government that prides itself in business acumen and ability in mergers and acquisitions they have given themselves a weak hand going forward. I've already said this government knows the price of everything and the value of nothing, but now they're crippled by analytical paralysis. In other words, they don't know what to do and so they do nothing. And when they do finally do something they'll find they don't have a strong position. Meanwhile the bills build up and you and I will have to pay for it with our taxes.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is episode 52 of the Hidden History of Texas - The Compromise of 1850 and some Texans are already angry and ready to leave the union This is episode 52 of the Hidden History of Texas - The Compromise of 1850 and some Texans are already angry and ready to leave the union In the past few episodes, I've talked about relations between Texas and Mexico, Anglos and Mexicans, and how slavery was part and parcel of life in Texas. The fact that there was, and in reality, still is racial animosity and other types of bigotry towards non-whites and non-protestants among the Anglo citizens of Texas isn't, or at least shouldn't be a surprise. The earliest Anglo settlers primarily came from the Southern states and carried with them their culture. They were very much like a large percentage of those who resided in many of the States, including some in the north. At the same time America was flexing its muscles and trying to expand its territory. From 1845 to 1865, America operated under the concept of Manifest Destiny as put forth by John L O'Sullivan when in 1845, he wrote, “…the fulfillment of our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions”. Although originally written as a defense in the argument for admitting Texas into the Union, the article laid the foundation for justification of government actions that consequently had a negative effect on those who fell outside of the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant group. By 1850 one outgrowth of this belief was the birth of a secretive society known as the American Order. The group stood firmly against Catholics, foreigners, and supported restrictions on immigration. They came to be known as the “National American Party' or more commonly labeled the “Know-Nothing” political party. In Texas, they were known as the “American Party” and as a whole they argued that any foreign-born citizen be barred from voting or holding public office. In Texas, the party was anti-Mexican, pro-slavery, and they pledged to vote only for native-born Protestants for public office. Remember from last episode, after the Mexican and American war ended, Texas wanted to annex the eastern part of New Mexico. Texas was also insistent on making certain that slave owners were not only allowed to keep their slaves but also to acquire more. Southern states who identified with the Texas political views also wanted to make certain that Texas was a slave state. It was not only Texas that the Southern leaders were concerned with; they also began to insist that ALL of the territory that was acquired as a result of the treaty of Guadalupe-Hildago that ended the war be opened to slavery. Needless to say, this did not sit well with those in the north who were abolitionists, and they were determined to prevent this from taking place. Meanwhile Robert S. Neighbors, who had been sent to New Mexico by then Texas Governor Peter Bell to organize the 4 eastern counties of New Mexico into a part of Texas failed in his mission. As a result of his failure in June of 1850 there was a public outcry where some called for the use of military force to take the territory and still others called for secession from the Union. Governor Bell chose to call a special session of the legislature (in Texas the legislature only meets every 2 years, usually it keeps them out of trouble) to deal with the issue. However, even before the session began, things managed to get worse. The government in New Mexico put forth a proposed constitution for a future state and the citizens easily approved it. In their constitution, they declared the state's boundaries to include the land claimed by Texas. At this point, President Fillmore decided to become involved, and he ordered that the army should reinforce their contingent that was stationed in New Mexico. He also publicly proclaimed that if any militiamen from Texas entered the area,

This is actually a sermon preached by our Chairman of the Deacons, Tony Landers. I'm experimenting with this new format for the podcast in hopes that the space will not go to waste. You could call this PHASE 2 of Grace or Grit. For a variety of reasons I dropped the ball on our old conversational strategy (with Patrick Reed) and I lack the creative juices to figure out how to revive it. BUT, maybe this approach will be a blessing to someone. So, enjoy! And, I would love to hear from you if you listen and are blessed.
“The first thing a pretender to philosophy must do is get rid of their presuppositions; a person is not going to undertake to learn anything that they think they already know.” – Marcus Aurelius In This Episode, We Get Stoic About: Presuppositions are the ideas, biases, and assumptions that we hold about the world based on our past experiences, beliefs, and cultural influences. They shape our perceptions of reality and influence how we interpret new information and experiences. However, clinging too tightly to these presuppositions can hinder our ability to truly learn and grow. We talk about how Marine Corps leadership principles and Marcus Aurelius put an emphasis on seeking self-improvement through knowledge transfer on today's podcast! The human body is a whole universe with its laws and mysteries, many of which we have yet to unravel. Have you ever wondered why we'd got a groove between our nose and top lip? It's called the philtrum, and it exists for a reason. Most specialists agree that the philtrum developed in humans in prehistoric times and played the role of smell amplifier. In addition, sometimes a wrongly shaped philtrum tells of autism or other conditions. I'm quite certain you didn't know about that. So, we at Bright Side decided to tell you about 8 vital parts of our body to which we often pay no attention. TIMESTAMPS: The anatomical snuffbox 0:31 The big toe 1:01 Glabella 1:26 Frenulum of the tongue 1:55 Tragus and antitragus 2:17 Tonsils 2:41 Nail cuticles 3:14 The philtrum 3:47 #bodyparts #nailcuticles #anatomy Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If you stretch your thumb a bit, you'll see a small triangular pit at its base. This is what medics call an anatomical snuffbox: in the past, people used it to snuff tobacco. - Because of the peculiar shape of the big toe, we can infinitely balance in a standing position, which is one of the main differences between humans and other mammals. - Tap your finger a few times between your eyebrows. If your reflexes are fine, you'll feel a slight tension in your eyes and want to blink. - This little fold beneath your tongue has an important function: it fixates the tongue in the mouth and makes it less flexible. - Here's an interesting fact: the names of these little bumps in our ears come from the Latin word tragos — "a goat." The tragus helps us hear sounds coming from behind, amplifying them and detecting their source. - The tonsils are the first barrier protecting us from bacteria and viruses by secreting lymphocytes. When they inflame and get removed, the body still has other protective mechanisms, but it's safer with the tonsils. - The cuticles an important function: they protect our hands from harmful bacteria that are especially abundant in big cities. If bacteria get into your body through a tiny wound made by cutting the cuticle, washing your hands won't help. I sometimes surf social media in search of someone I think might be an excellent guest for this show. When I found retired US Army soldier Orvie B. Baker, Jr. I knew I had found true excellence! See, Orvie is a former SARC, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, for the Army SAPRO (Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office). He has tons of experience as a sexual assault victim advocate and supervised and trained other Army SA victim advocates. Something even more extraordinary about Orvie is that after he retired from the Army, he went back to school and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Cinematography! And now he's using that new-found love of movie making to produce a full-length documentary about the nation's first , located at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That was the post I found that made me want to reach out to Orvie…and I'm so glad I did! The fact that there is a Survivors Memorial blew me away! What a phenomenal idea!...but then to have someone with as much passion and zeal for victims and survivors as Orvie to come up with the idea to produce a documentary about the Memorial…boom!...mind blown! I just had to reach out to Orvie to see if he would be a guest on SASS, and fortunately for all of us, he agreed. Orvie goes into detail about how he found out about the Memorial, and what he did to start production of his documentary. This is a fascinating story, so don't miss this episode!! Accompanying Orvie's idea to produce his documentary, he also has a push going to get others interested in this project so that other memorials dedicated to survivors of sexual violence could be built in each state. Think that's a great idea?—me too! Which is why I want to encourage you to donate to Orvie so that he can get this documentary marketed to help get the word out. Orvie has a GoFundMe campaign that you can go to and donate! The link is , and listed below in case this link doesn't work on some podcast platforms. Let's do this: let's honor Orvie's service to this country and to his work as a SARC, and to his amazing idea to produce the documentary, by financially supporting Orvie! He also has a Patreon donation campaign that you can donate to or at the address listed below. On top of all that Orvie has done and is doing, he also wrote a children's book about staying safe from sexual predators called, “Don't Touch Me! Say No to Sexual Harassment,” that can be found on Amazon. I've read it…I highly recommend it! Orvie provided me with his bio...here it is: MR. ORVIE B. BAKER, JR. Orvie B. Baker, Jr. is a Chicago Native who moved to Louisiana at an early age and has been traveling ever since. Mr. Baker joined the Army immediately after High School, attending Basic Training in South Carolina; Army Individual Training and Airborne Training in Georgia; then serving at his first duty station at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 2003, he attended the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) and became an Army Equal Opportunity Advisor (EOA). In 2005, Mr. Baker deployed to Iraq as an EOA and, upon his return, transitioned to an Instructor at DEOMI. After twenty years in uniform, Mr. Baker was back in front of troops, in a civilian- capacity, as a Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Prevention (SHARP) Instructor working to certify Victim Advocates and Sexual Assault Response Coordinators for the Army. Mr. Baker served as an Educator and Presenter for Catharsis Productions where he co-presented “Got Your Back”, a 90-minute interactive SHARP presentation. From 2014 to 2016 he conducted training the world over from the United States to Japan and areas in between . In his most recent position, Mr. Baker served as the 127th Wing Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program Manager at Selfridge from 2017 to 2019 and represented the organization both on and off Base. He was instrumental with standing up the 127th Wing Airmen Wellness Center; always the consummate motivator he earned the nickname, "DJ SAPR". Mr. Baker is the President of The Einmalig Group, LLC Consulting where he specializes as a guest speaker, educator and in climate assessments of workplace areas. There was no UFC or bare knuckles this weekend, but there was still plenty of magnificent violence to watch. Friday's PFL had some good action, followed by KC early Saturday morning. In this week's episode we dive into sleep. From infancy to toddlerhood we have both experienced a wide gamut of sleep struggles and successes. Media and western culture today would have us believe that babies and children should be sleeping through the night and if they aren't then you need to fix this problem. In this episode we debunk that idea by breaking down our own experiences both as mothers and professionals. At the end of the day, we try to remain humble and continually “try something else”. Because sometimes there's nothing you can do but go with the flow, listen to your child's cues, know their needs and have patience for this season. They will sleep through the night one day, it just might not be on our timeline. Now, let's grab a snack and get to it! In Differ We Must: How Lincoln Succeeded In a Divided America, NPR"s Steve Inskeep details how the 16th President used conversation, engagement, compromise, and tact to play the political hand he was dealt, without alienating factions, even those he could not abide. Plus, California has a trail-blazing senator whose a lot of things, just not a Californian. Also on the show, a great day for Matt Gaetz's ego is a less-good day for orderly government.
