Creating the culture you want, being the leader you need to be and building a team to accomplish the vision all starts with Touching the Line. Touching the line is a term in sports when an athlete is running a familiar drill. You run to a line and you have to bend down and touch it. Few touch it as most just get close. In culture and leadership....you have to touch the line. There are no shortcuts. In leadership having hard conversations, making decisions that is best for the team and hiring the right people and caring for them...you have to touch the line.

Best is the Standard People "expect" and then "respect" standards once they are set. Explaining why using the word "tribe" makes more sense in the workplace instead of "family" and "team."
"I tell it like it is" or "I'm just blunt" are 2 phrases that are selfish for a leader to say. This only benefits the communicator and makes them feel good. We've done that before or this is the way we've always done it. This will CRUSH creativity. You're doing a great job...this is heard often in life. Right….NOW “What did they say to you when you talked to them about it?” How to create a culture of pushing gossip and drama out Develop leaders who do not deal with gossip or drama. They will sniff it out and stomp on it. Do you talk about how you don't tolerate gossip in your company? Do you engage with gossip?
