Brendan Kane, founder of Hook Point and author of the bestselling book by the same name, shares his proven frameworks for breaking through the noise on social media and attracting dream clients. He reveals why the biggest mistake video business owners make is selling the service instead of the solution, and how finding strategic partnerships can scale your business faster than chasing individual clients. Brendan also breaks down his unique approach to "storytelling formats" - repeatable structures that consistently drive engagement and results across any industry. Key Takeaways Solve pain points, don't sell services - Focus on the core problems that keep your ideal customers awake at night and position your video skills as the solution to those specific issues Partner with connectors, not just customers - Find the people who already serve your ideal clients at scale rather than trying to reach each customer individually - one partnership could lead to hundreds of projects Use proven storytelling formats - Success comes from finding repeatable content structures (like "Man on the Street" or "Is It Worth It") that match your personality and expertise Measure meaningful metrics - Focus on consistent breakthrough content that demonstrates you're connecting with audiences in your area of expertise, not just vanity metrics like follower count About Brendan Kane Brendan Kane is a digital strategist with two decades of experience helping entrepreneurs, brands, and influencers connect with global audiences. He founded Hook Point in 2018, where he has generated over $1 billion in client revenue and 60 billion views through innovative digital strategies. What is the thing that actually wakes them up in the middle of the night? And how can you help with your skillset solve that problem." - Brendan Kane "Don't necessarily go direct to the customer but who already reaches your customers at scale and how can you create you know value exchange or a partnership in that direction." - Brendan Kane "If I had to create a video agency today, I would create AI video soup to nuts and I would just find a way... I would just be creating models where I can create AI videos and just start sending it to businesses." - Brendan Kane "I never work with people and our company never works with people to go viral for the sake of going viral, to get views for the sake of going views. It always has to tie into their expertise, their zone of genius." - Brendan Kane "The ROI is as big as your vision... Finding a job in today's economy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. With interest rates remaining high and the job market slowing, this is a strategic moment to refresh your job search. By combining diligence, adaptability, and prayerful preparation, you can approach this season with confidence rooted in God's wisdom.Proverbs 27:12 reminds us: “The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.” Preparation matters—not just in life but in your job search. With the right approach, you can steward your time, skills, and relationships wisely while trusting God to guide your steps.A great place to start is your resume. Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) filter applications before a human ever reviews them, so tailoring your resume to each job description is essential. Use specific keywords, highlight measurable results, and connect your experience directly to the role. Think of it as stewardship—presenting your God-given abilities thoughtfully and effectively.Building Relationships That Open DoorsEven in a digital age, networking is still king. Studies show up to 85% of jobs are filled through referrals, and many roles are never posted publicly. Reconnect with colleagues, reach out to mentors, and don't overlook your church community. Genuine, relational conversations—built on curiosity rather than transaction—often lead to opportunities you couldn't find otherwise.Employers are also seeking adaptable learners. Developing skills in areas like AI, digital communication, or project management shows you're willing to grow. Affordable platforms like Coursera, edX, and Google Career Certificates make it easy to build new skills that employers value.Standing Out in a Digital WorldYour online presence is often the first impression an employer has. More than 70% of hiring managers review social media profiles, and nearly half say what they find influences their decision. Clean up questionable content, complete your LinkedIn profile, and stay active with thoughtful updates. Treat it as your digital business card—when you remain visible, opportunities are more likely to find you.Interviews have also shifted online. Prepare your space, dress professionally, and look into the camera to build connection. Small details—like lighting, posture, and a thank-you note afterward—leave a lasting impact.Trusting God in the ProcessA slowing job market can stir up fear, but Philippians 4:6–7 offers comfort: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”Preparation and diligence matter, but so do prayer and trust. God orders your steps. Every interview, every connection, and every opportunity is part of His greater story for your life. Search faithfully, not fearfully, knowing He is your ultimate provider. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:What is the statute of limitations for a collection agency to pursue a debt I still owe?I'm thinking about applying for Social Security Disability because of a physical condition from my recent job. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Mindset is how you think off the course. The mental game is how you execute on it. Self-talk, especially speaking in absolutes, directly shapes performance. Growth mindset starts with how you respond to others' success—use it as fuel. Purpose and competition keep men emotionally engaged and focused. Mentally tough golfers have self-discipline, challenge themselves, and “just keep going.” Tournament golf requires planning, emotional regulation, and stimulus management. Stick to your routine. Under pressure, you fall to the level of your habits. The dark side—if understood—can be a powerful motivator. Complacency is the real enemy of progress. Key Quotes: If you're not training mindset daily, it won't be there when you need it most. Self-talk isn't just words—it's wiring your subconscious for what happens next. Tournament golf exposes the gaps between preparation and performance. You fall to the level of your habits, not rise to your expectations. I don't want to retire. I want to die with nothing in the tank. Discipline eventually becomes identity—and that's where the breakthroughs happen. Sometimes you need to create an enemy to bring out your best. "When you're in tune with [your period cycle] and you recognize what phase of the week, or the month you're in, it's a game changer. And I just encourage women to embrace that, in addition to choosing the best possible menstrual option that supports your body." —Arielle Loupos Tampons and pads aren't the only way—and for a lot of us, they're not even the best way. The review process is in general not great. Research says only 21% of your review reflects your actual performance. The other 79%? Reviewer preferences, interpretation differences, and who happened to see you shine—or not. One person's “excellent communicator” is another's “talks too much at meetings.” Welcome to the land of subjectivity. And let's not forget the recency bias. Most of us can't remember what we had for lunch last week, let alone your Q1 wins. Performance reviews often rely heavily on the last six weeks—which means your January brilliance is now irrelevant. We start with a flawed process that can feel deeply personal, which as we know is a bad mix for our ease, meaning and joy at work. So what can we do? Before the review, ask: What's expected of me? What's the goal of this review? Do you want a response? When? During the review: Listen—sometimes that's enough. Keep your cool—even if your face betrays you. Ask questions—gently, curiously. Buy time—especially if you didn't see it coming. Hunt for the helpful—what's useful, what's noise? Craft your response—thanks, questions, or a plan. If you're underperforming—own it. Ask what improvement looks like. Show don't tell—words are easy, action is powerful. Create a plan—share it, follow up, stay engaged. If you're surprised by feedback, that's probably not failure—it's probably information. Maybe your boss doesn't give real-time feedback. Maybe expectations were never clearly shared. And there are times when we can be just not plugged in and self-aware - considering why we are surprised can be very helpful. And remember: this isn't just feedback on you. It's also a window into your boss, your team, and your company. There's data in how they deliver feedback, what they notice, and what they miss. So take a breath. Accept the review as just one piece of a much bigger picture. Learn what you can. Then, let it go, Elsa. Let it go. Very few men think of relationships in the frame of the “sexual marketplace,” although the rules and principles of attraction and connection can very much be understood as an economic model, of sorts, of perceived value. And, the man who offers the most perceived value, is the man who gets the girl. Whether you're married or single, understanding the intricacies and nuance of what makes a man attractive to a woman will help him get more of what he wants from her. My guest today, psychologist Orion Taraban joins me to discuss these dynamics between men and women so we all get more of what we're after in relationships. We cover the importance of knowing your value and knowing what is valuable to the opposite sex, why love has little or nothing to do with attraction, what is known as the “Madonna-Whore Complex,” the concepts of Captains and Passengers as it relates to dating and mating, the difference between talking and communicating, and how best to make yourself more attractive.
