Travis, Jeffrey, Austin, & Matt
Matt, Ted, and Travis attempt to analyze a match that simply makes no sense ... eight goals in the first half, none in the second, and another disappointing result - at least this time on the road - for the fellas from Stuttgart. Along the way the guys try to answer WTF happened for each and every goal while at the same time work to find some silver lining in what has been a pretty cloudy stretch on the pitch. Finally, they ponder one of the only questions anyone supporting the brustring is really asking nowadays - how much of this matters when it comes to figuring out if the guys are ready for the biggest match of the season, the upcoming Pokal final?
It's a rough one as Travis takes on for the team and goes solo. He chats VfBSVW, slow starts, Schlager, and sloppy play. ALL BY HIMSELF!But also with Kai. It's a "we had to to do this episode to keep our episode streak going" episode, so ... enjoy?
It's a celebratory episode in which the fellas bask in the joy that is a semi-final Pokal win as well as an all-important Bundesliga win in what turned out to be a fantastic week for all supporters of the white and red!We chat Derek's shout out, Demi's redemption, Angelo's goal, Maxi's emotion, squad rotation, and Fritzle in Berlin ... with or without pants!
In Matt's 100th episode we try to ignore the fact VfB is one of the worst teams in the Buli right now and instead focus on how great Leo is at all the things! As such, Matt and Travis chat the recent loss to Frankfurt, what it means going forward, and how they're feeling with the Pokal semi's coming up!And thanks to Ollie and his crew for our new intro and exit music ... take THAT Spotify!
Episode 153 is a brief look at the last match - the heartbreaker against B04 - and a deeper look at where VfB is at with eight Bundesliga and hopefully two more Pokal matches remaining!
It's episode 152 and Matt and Travis do their best to be as positive as possible ... for approximately three minutes. But along the way the guys celebrate the Frauen, VfB II for leading the third league in red cards, and a loyal listener for sending us some stickers!Sadly, the guys have to talk about the match against KSV and while they do ponder the struggles the guys are on they leave the match happy to at least - considering the week that was around the league - leave with a point. Sigh.News and Q's cover Sebastian's links to other clubs, the struggles of Deniz and Demi, and what REALLY is the cause of our recent struggles of late. Hint: heck if we know! The episode wraps up with a look at the upcoming match at home versus - uh oh - Bayer but then ends with some positivity considering expectations, the rest of the season, and Matt's recent order from the VfB team shop.Note: This is the same episode as previously uploaded but with the video deleted. You're welcome!
Matt and Travis chat a third home loss in a row and chat the bad, the not so bad, and the kinda sorta not bad but yikes. And then they try to turn all of that into positives! Along the way we talk the Frauen, VfBII, VfBFCB, Sebastian, the Pokal, and a whole bunch of other things. Wheee!
It's a milestone episode (150!) so we do all we can to make this as uneventful as possible and make it as impactful as the match that took place at VfB's second home, PreZero Arena! We talk waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than is necessary. How's that for a plug?!
Matt, Ted, and Travis ponder whether it's time to panic - relatively speaking - regarding VfB's recent run of form. And we have our first ever live Q & A with VfB fans! Sorta...
It's Matt's 93rd episode and thus Travis and he bring the same energy a 93 year old would bring to this week's episode! The guys chat up the Pokal win over FCA and the Buli win over BVB and celebrate not only the victories, but the tactical ability to play both fun and dynamic - as well as gritty and defensive - depending on the day.Hot topics include Demi playing a role, Deniz's struggles, Sebastian's tactical flexibility, BVB's seeming unlikability, Anton helping out his former club, and, of course, how Matt and Travis were 100% accurate on how key Jeff Chabot would be this season.Ahem.All that and a some Peter Stormare to end the episode!
Matt, Ted, and Travis pop on and chat the week that was. Which wasn't much, as it turns out. The guys Shout-Out VfBII (sorta) and then talk Champions League and whether they'd be willing to risk a trip to any other post-season league. Then it's BMG time, and rather than spending time on that match, they try to figure out what's up with the guys in white and red - is it that the tactics or is it simply that they're tired? Finally, they wrap up the program by looking ahead at the big big big match versus southern neighbors Augsburg as well as the revenge match - but for whom? - at BVB. All that and it was live ... sorta! Also, check out Ted and Travis' talk with Rory from OTB for more VfBPSG info as we don't talk much about it on this episode as we covered it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/tr56uxru_5w We had a blast chatting even though the result was less than ideal!
Matt pops on to join Travis to talk VfB at Slovan and VfB at Mainz! As such, the guys chat up some wins, some losses, and some text strands, as they use their weekly in-game text strand to chat about the lineup, the players, and the result! Wrapping up the episode, Matt is way more optimistic than Travis regarding the upcoming week but that doesn't mean we don't learn about Matt's love of pain and Travis' dislike of animals!
It's the perfect Englische Woche and so we bring in the perfect trio - David, Doug, and Austin - to break down the week that was! First off, we welcome back resident SCF supporter, Auz, to get his view on his club Freiburg as well as his views on what it's like coming at VfB nowadays and then ask friends of the show David and Doug to defend (or brag about!) their pre-season Hot Takes and break down the RBL match a bit. We then return with Austin to break down the matches a bit further before diving into some News & Q's that include the super important Champions League match at Bratislava mid-week! Intro music courtesy of Peter Schilling and Bundesliga.com
It's the first episode of 2025 and Matt, Ted, and Travis talk about the first win of 2025, a gritty - if not pretty - win over Swabian neighbors FC Augsburg! Talking points include Demi's struggles, Deniz's comeback, Derek's food commentary, coming's and going's like Bruun and Franz, and finally, the upcoming Englische Woche as VfB hosts both RBL and SCF. We promised it would be a short episode as it's a busy week but after an hour of chatting we realized we're just giddy to get 2025 up and rolling again! Audio courtesy of Peter Schilling and Bundesliga. Episode art courtesy of VfB.de
The winter break is upon us, which means it's time for our Holiday Hinrunde Review ... and who better to chat about the year that was - the year that is to come - than ESPN's very own Derek Rae! Derek joins the program to review last seasons' Champions League finish as well as the amazing summer of "VfB Deutschland" and then provides some context on how the fellas in the brustring are doing this season, a season that has seen numerous injuries and three major competitions. Mid-season awards, presented by OFC VfB Americana, are then considered as are predictions for the rest of the season, a season that could just end in a trophy run if things go right. Episode 143 then wraps up with the really, really, REALLY big questions of the day that are first and foremost on most of our minds - pink kits, Major Tom, and, of course, Stuttgart-based culinary delicacies! Pop by for a holiday episode that only Santa Rae and his elf Travis can provide! Opening songs courtesy of Peter Schilling and VfB.aep.
It's the semi-last episode of 2024 and the guys try to reign in their disappointment with the end of Hinrunde loss by breaking down the final match of 2024. In doing so, Matt, Ted, and Travis try to break the match down into "A's" - Arrogance, Anto & Anrie, Ata, Attack, and Attitude - and come away feeling disappointed. But in the end, we'll always have 2024 and the memories that came with it! Just like the holiday memories the fellas share along the way! Song courtesy of the Standing Stones!
It's episode 141 and the boys are giddy with excitement as the jungundwild have won three in a row over three different competitions to keep the good VfB times rolling! The guys chat Hugo Boss shirts, a UCL win over Young boys, and an expectedly tough match versus Swabian neighbors Heidenheim as well as answer questions regarding future additions, whether they think VfB will be going forward in both the UCL and the Pokal, and if Nick Woltemade is the greatest player in the history of football. The answer? YES TO EVERYTHING!
It's episode 140 and it's a double-serving of VfB victories! Ted and Travis chat the Pokal win over Jahn and the come-from-behind victory over Union, a "get right" win and a much needed "mentality win" to hopefully start the jungundwild's holiday season on the right path! Along the way the fellas chat cakes, Pokal and Champions League money, benching Jeff, playing Yannik, Alex's mishaps, and, of course, Nick Freaking Woltemade!
In episode 139 (part 2) the guys remember to hit the record button and chat (briefly) about Red Star and then dive into what's what with VfB and the offense, the defense, and the coaching as the club ends November on a rough run. But never fear, with December here, hope springs eternal, and the guys are hoping that with Jahn and Union on the docket that the jungundwild can get their act together and end 2024 on a positive note! All that and a new platform that either makes the sound better or makes it as bad as it's always been. Which is saying something!
In episode 138, Hannes joins us to break down the last two home matches, matches, unfortunately, that didn't end the way the fellas had hoped. Part One is some shout outs to the Frauen who held on to extend their lead on the table while also explaining our Twitter embargo that we'll no doubt back down from in the coming weeks. Oh well. Part Two looks at two home matches in two weeks, where Fortress MHP Arena was breached by both a Champions League team and a Bundesliga team. The guys talk the ugly - the losses - the bad - the play of Demi - and the good - the play of some of the kids - and end on a positive note as the schedule from here until Christmas is looking - fingers crossed - pretty friendly (famous last words). Part Three are some News & Q's as the guys celebrate VfB Deutschland and try to say the name of particular VfB II player. Yikes! Part Four wraps up with some positive thoughts on the future of VfB ... if not America. Enjoy!
Doug and David join the pod to break down the recent Buli, Pokal, and Champions League matches!
Part two of our episode (because we stink at technology) covers some News & Q's - like exit clauses - as well as the upcoming matches against old foes Bayer and new foes Atalanta!
Part 1 of episode 136 dives into some shout outs celebrating the Frauen, the team shop, and boy howdy, three big wins in three big competitions over the course of what seemed like only three short days! The guys break down the big Champions League win over Juventus, the important Bundesliga win over a spirited Kiel, and the nervy win in the Pokal!
It's a short week so it's a short podcast as Matt and Travis try to talk about the good - VfB Deutschland - and the bad - VfB at Bayern.
Episode 134 has the guys talking the recent matches against Sparta and TSG ... both of which unfortunately - or fortunately - ended in draws!
In this episode, Matt and Travis race against the clock to talk about the match that happened - WOBVfB - and the matches that are about to happen - VfBACS and VfBTSG ... and the Champions League! Enjoy our shortest episode ever!
Whoa ... what a week! Ted and Travis chat the loss at Real and the win versus BVB. And, yes, a win versus some former VfB players as well. Ahem.
The international break is over and we know what you need! US! Or a big VfB win on the road! Or both. But mostly the win! Matt, Ted, and Travis are back to give some Shout Outs to the Frauen, VfBII, and the sweet, sweet, new Champions League kits! Part Two breaks down the win on the road with special attention given to the tale of two halves, the play of Deniz and Demi, the improving play of Anrie and Jeff, the impact of the bench, and a bit of applause to old friend* Dr. Brych for making history. News & Q's in Part Three is Champions League heavy as the guys look at the schedule, the money, and the roster rules of the most elite tournament in all of football and ends, of course, by pandering to a potential sponsor. As you'd expect! Episode 131 wraps up with a look at the week ahead, a "let's have fun" match versus legendary Real Madrid and then what will no doubt be an emotional roller coaster versus a certain club from Dortmund. All that and talk about how much a Maxi Middle-Sized State kit might cost!
A feel good match followed by a head scratcher means we've got to call in extra support for episode 130, and that's just what we do as Hannes, Doug, and David help provide some hot takes on the week that was, ranging from who is going to play defense to who is going to play offense all the way to where is Silas going? Part One throws some Shout Outs to the Frauen, the team shop, and the newest American OFC, VfB Twin Cities! Part Two looks at the "get right" match in the Pokal as well as the head scratcher against Mainz where, we have to admit, more than just good 'ol Timo was off when it came to the play on the pitch. Part Three's News & Q's celebrates the Champion's League draw and the newest member of the German National Team, one Ange Stiller! Episode 130 ends with a brief look at the upcoming matches that take place after the international break in which the guys hope VfB can figure some things out before playing a pesky little club called ... Real Madrid!
In this episode Matt and Travis try to convince everyone EVERYTHING IS OKAY! Part One includes Shout Outs to the Frauen, the Team Shop, VfB2, and Highland Scotch. Part Two breaks down the match, a disappointing start to the season in which the guys wonder what was the biggest factor - the missing players, the lineup, the offense, or just simple mistakes. Part Three deals with some News & Q's, and we share our condolences for former coach Christoph Daum and then answer Q's regarding all things VfB. Part Four looks at the much needed "get me right" match taking place Tuesday as well as the home match against a usually tough Mainz club. All that and we have new transition music! Kind of. Enjoy!
NOTE: Apologies for the first 90 seconds as our audio cut out and the intro music didn't upload correctly. But if you use your IMAGINATION you can IMAGINE the intro music?! How's THAT for professional?! The first official episode of the new season begins with welcoming back four friends of the show, Hannes, David, Doug, and a bunch of midwestern insects, as they all give us their quick thoughts on the upcoming season! Part Three takes a quick look back at the dumbest trophy in the world, the SuperCup, as the guys use the emotions from Inside Out 2 to channel their inner rage at losing the dumbest trophy in the world. Ahem. Part Four is a look at OFC VfB Americana's survey regarding the upcoming season and the guys chat who's going to be the player of the season, the newbie of the season, and the "that guy is still on the roster?" player of the season. Part Five wraps up the episode with a look at the opening match of the Bundesliga season, where VfB heads to southern neighbors Freiburg to exact some much needed winning! All that and some cicades! Enjoy ... if you dare!
In our welcome back episode, we throw out some random questions and provide some even more random answers! Our questions hopefully provide a bit of a look back and look forward to what is sure to be a fun, exciting, and Champions League level season! Questions we cover, in completely random order, include: 1) VfB at the Euros 2) VfB at the Olympics 3) the new kits 4) who's gonna/should be our new captain 5) Serhou at BVB 6) Demi 7) Vogt 8) Mislintat 9) Stiller 10) Omer Beyaz 11) Anton's exit 12) Wehrle getting married 13) Filling the Guirassy shaped hole in our score sheet 14) Any mascot as cool as Fritzle? 15) BuLi resources online
It's a bonus episode and we chat the news of the day, namely, our former captain, one Waldemar Anton. Matt, Ted, and Travis attempt break the news down analytically and emotionally before trying to ponder what is the "Sebastian" factor in all of this and what, if anything, do players wearing the brustring owe those that support them? Along the way we open and close with a pretty cool tune that has some pretty significant messages for all of us - including you Waldi! - regarding ... bridges. Apologies for some of the technical issues as we're working through - or against - our new pod platform. Yeesh.
It's our first ever summer episode and we apologize about so much ... our pre-season predictions, our new format, our ... well ... everything... BUT we do give our thoughts on how bad our preseason picks were waaaaaay back in August and what we think about the present matches here in June! There's not time stamp because we don't know how to do one!
In one of our longest episodes to date, Matt, Ted, and Travis ramble on about one of single greatest seasons in memory! The guys chat about the Frauen's success, Jeffrey Gaston joining the brustring, and hand out award after award after award. And then some more awards. And then a few more. It's their longest episode ever ... but can you blame them after what an amazing season this has been?! Episode Intro - 0:00-2:37 Part One - Shout Outs - 2:47-15:27 Part Two - Memories & Awards - 15:37-1:53:45 Episode Bonus & Exit - 1:53:55 to End
Due to some uploading issues we've had we are re-uploading episode 123 back up into the interweb as two parts. If you were able to listen to this episode already, there's nothing new here but we're attempting to upload this in two parts to get it back on good 'ol Spotify! Anyway ... Part Two of this episode includes our usual Part Three News & Q's while there's no Part Four since there's no upcoming VfB match. Can we possibly make this more confusing?!
Due to some uploading issues we've had we are re-uploading episode 123 back up into the interweb as two parts. If you were able to listen to this episode already, there's nothing new here but we're attempting to upload this in two parts to get it back on good 'ol Spotify! Anyway ... Part One includes Shout Outs while Part Two breaks down the VfBBMG match!
Matt and Travis start off Episode 123 with an ode to one of the more popular soccer tunes in Germany right now and hope against hope they can avoid any and all negative legal action! An extended Part One gives Shout Outs to nearly everyone as the guys celebrate OFC Americana winners as well as VfB winners, namely the U21 team for earning promotion to the third tier! Along the way, hellos are given to newbies Nick and Justin while goodbyes are said to short-timers like Genki and long-timers like Gerhard. Part One ends with some fatherly words of wisdom for pod member Ted as well as some more pathetic product placement! Part Two celebrates yet another win in what has been a record-breaking season the likes of which has rarely - if ever - been seen! The guys give the requisite love to Serhou's goals, Woo's resurgence, and the made-for-tv movie that has become the last month of the season for the one and only Silas. That's not to say the defense is ignored, as some attention is given to the defense, in particular Hiroki, Walde, and Alex, but to paraphrase Alex, we move on in order to take a well-earned adult beverage break! Part Three's News & Q's starts with the big news that five of the fellas in white and red have made the provisional German squad, that Leo and Jamie are now permanent wearers of the brustring, and that the OFC Bracket of Significance is coming down to a very predictable finish. Questions, meanwhile, deal with what second place really means, what the podcast crew does during the off-season, and the eternal question - who would win in a match between Homburg and ... Hamburg. As there's no VfB match next week, there's no Part Four, but just because VfB's season is over doesn't mean OUR season is over! Indeed, we'll be back next week with some end of season analysist, awards, and interviews that, to paraphrase Sebastian, will leave you speechless! Mostly because we'll probably interview Ted's speechless newborn. BUT IT WILL BE AN EXCLUSIVE! Episode Introduction - 0:00-2:20 Part One - Shout Outs - 2:30-19:09 Part Two - VfB:BMG - 19:19-37:56 Part Three - News & Q's - 38:14-1:15:37 Episode Exit - 1:15:38-1:16:19 Photo courtesy of VfB.de
It's another victory pod and another three points, so the trio of Matt, Ted, and Travis break down yet another glorious match result. And ignore their own mom's in doing so! Part One's Shout Outs are given to the Frauen, VfB II, Sasa's brother, and old friends Carlos and the now retired Simon. Part Two's look at the match against Augsburg starts off giving some love - again! - to the travelling supporters and then dives into the play of several individuals, from Leo to Enzo to Serhou to Alex. Part Three's News & Q's provide some happy birthdays, pondering Fabian's potential promotion, and our Bracket of Significance that is forcing us to make some agonizing VfB choices. Part Four is yet another optimistic look at an upcoming match, this time the final home match of the season against a Gladbach team that quite literally has nothing to play for. Just like these guys quite literally have nothing better to do on Mother's Day than chat VfB! So join them as they ignore their actual families to celebrate a record breaking season! Episode Introduction - 0:00-2:17 Part One - Shout Outs - 2:27-13:16 Part Two - FCA:VfB - 13:26-38:49 Part Three - News & Q's - 38:59-1:09:09 Part Four - VfB:BMG - 1:09:19-1:18:05 Episode Exit - 1:18:06-1:18:47 Photo courtesy of VfB.de
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! To celebrate VfB's win and Champions League entry, we bring in the champions of this podcast, Matt, Rob, Ted, and Travis, to chat up what was not only an amazing match, but an amazing season. As such, this episode is way, way too long and is one of our longest - if not the longest - regular season episode ever. Apologies! BUT NOT SORRY! In Part One, Shout Outs go to Kevin and Julia for calling a great match as well as to VfB II and the Frauen who continue to dominate! Part Two is a cluster of voices as the four guys try to contain their excitement regarding the big win - and big season - but simply cannot. The match, the players, the coach, and the fence are all brought up in one of the longest match game break-downs ever! Part Three is a look at News & Q's and thankfully, it's mostly good news! Leo's extension and Silas' future role headline the Q's, but Matt throws in some educational info about bananas that will no doubt help any and all who attend a future VfB match! Part Four looks at the upcoming match on the road versus Augsburg and ... let's be honest ... the guys hardly care. But do you?! Episode Intro - 0:-1:40 Part One - Shout Outs - 1:50-10:37 Part Two - FCB:VfB - 10:47-58:31 Part Three - News & Q's - 58:41-1:31:00 Part Four - FCA:VfB - 1:31:10-1:44:29 Episode Exit - 1:44:29-end
Matt and Travis are back to attempt to break down a match that, as Daxo posted on instagram and we borrowed for this episodes cover art, was, well, somewhat questionable. Be that as it may, the guys start Part One's Shout Outs by celebrating the Frauen while wondering what could have happened had VfB II held on to it's early lead over their local rivals, the Kickers. Part Two looks at the loss - or was it a draw? - on the road to one of the best teams in all of Europe and Matt, who actually watched the match, tries to fill in Travis on what he missed during what was, at times, a dominating VfB performance. And of course most of this section also looks at the performance of our new favorite Felix, one Mr. Zwayer! Part Three's News & Q's is pretty brief, with news regarding the on-loan players and our Player of Significance Bracket while questions concerning Matt and Travis' favorite horror film take place as well, which is obviously the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. What? Part Four wraps up with a look at the upcoming match versus Bayern, a club in (relative) turmoil and perhaps - perhaps - ripe for the taking. It's a Monday Moaning episode if ever there was one! And check out our Bracket and put in your vote here: https://vfbamericana.weebly.com/polls.html! Episode Introduction - 0:00-2:18 Part One - Shout Outs - 2:28-8:52 Part Two - B04:VfB - 9:02-30:45 Part Three - News & Q's - 30:55-46:12 Part Four - VfB:FCB - 46:22-57:52 Episode Exit - 57:53-58:34 Photo courtesy of Daxo!
The guys are so distraught that that don't even do the bare minimum - record an episode together! Travis goes solo and attempts to chat up the match, the questions, and the upcoming game. Yeah ... it's 29 minutes of your life you'll never get back ... but at least their attendance streak keeps going!
It's official... we're going to Europe! And to celebrate the international clinching win, Ted and Travis break down what turned out to be a convincingly comfortable - and somewhat boring - win over SGE that has - let's say it again! - officially secured VfB's international status next season! Part One's Shout Outs go to the Frauen, some VfB newcomers, and the VfB shop for making a bunch of baby items just in time for a podcast newborn on the way! Part Two looks at the win over Frankfurt, focusing on the offensive prowess of Serhou and Deniz as well as the defensive play of Fabi and Captain Anton. Not to be forgotten, Ata's 100th game, Jamie's unintentional nutmeg, and records being set left and right by the boys in white and red. Part Three's New's & Q's chats up the arena renovations, the extended loan of Alex, and what role - if any - Christian Gentner may play in the upper management going forward. Part Four is a look at the upcoming match versus Bremen and not surprisingly the guys are still basking in the optimism of a record breaking jungundwild season! Episode Introduction - 0:2:59 Part One - Shout Outs - 3:09-11:09 Part Two - VfB:SGE - 11:19-38:33 Part Three - News & Q's - 38:43-52:40 Part Four - SVW:VfB - 52:50-1:08:59 Episode Exit - 1:09:09-1:10:05 Photo courtesy of VfB.de
Ted and Travis break down the recent match versus BVB in which the boys in white and red continue to - wait for it - ECLIPSE all pre-season expectations! Part One's Shout Outs include some love to Hansa loanee Juan, Part Two looks at the big win on the road in which VfB blew out the BVB 50th birthday celebrations with some incredibly impressive - and at times cynical - football. WHICH WE LOVED! Part Three's News & Q's rehashes the same 'ol same 'ol - drama in the front office - and ponders who the guys hope to keep come next year. Meanwhile, Part Four deals with the next match, a home contest versus Eintracht. All that and a solar eclipse, too! Episode Introduction - 0:00-3:35 Part One - Shout Outs - 3:45-9:35 Part Two - BVB:VfB - 9:45-35:29 Part Three - News & Q's - 35:39-51:13 Part Four - VfB:SGE - 51:23-61:50 Episode Exit - 61:50-end Photo courtesy of VfB.de
It's an up and down episode appropriate for what was an up and down match, the exasperating but exhilarating 3:3 draw at home for match 1,000. Before the guys look at the match, Part One's Shout Outs ponder the table status of VfB II, the Stuttgarter Kickers, and the sharp looking warm-up kit the club broke out to celebrate match 1,000 in the stadium. Part Two looks at the match, as there is much to celebrate - the gorgeous first half, Angelo's first VfB goal, and Deniz's dramatic come-from-behind goal in added time - but an equal amount to criticize - Alex's unusually shaky play, Silas' decision making, and most of all, the lack of focus by the guys in white and red after earning a 2:0 lead. Part Two's segment wraps up with a consideration of just how much - or little - the upper-management drama is impacting the play on the pitch or, at the very least, the experience in the stadium before taking a deep breath and considering how, in the big picture, 2024 has just been a brilliant run for the jungundwild. Part Three's News & Q's congratulate the fellas that made the German national team, consider the continued drama between the e.V. and the A.G., and contrast some questions regarding is this the same 'ol VfB or is this a different VfB. Part Four takes a look at the upcoming match on the road versus a resurgent BVB, a club hot on the heels of VfB's third place spot, and the guys are split on just how well next week's topspiel is gonna go. All that and a special question from a bot! Episode Introduction - 0:00-1:33 Part One: Shout Outs - 1:43-7:00 Part Two: VfB:FCH - 7:10-39:57 Part Three: News & Q's - 40:07-57:56 Part Four: BVB:VfB - 58:06-1:03:13 Episode Exit - 1:03:13-end Photo courtesy VfB.de
It's a lengthy and at times pedantic episode full of celebration, congratulation, and as the fellas are want to do, confusion! Part One's Shout Outs congratulate the Frauen on taking out derby rival KSCII, a history lesson on Bad Cannstatt's seal, and why the Man of the Match this week probably should have been titled "the travelling supporters of the match!" Part Two starts up doing just that, as Matt and Travis celebrate the absolute dominance of not just the guys in white and red, but the dominance of the away support decked out in ALL red, turning Sinsheim into a VfB loving town for at least a day! And what a day it turned out to be, as Chris, Serhou, Deniz, and Enzo - among others - all put on a heck of a show in earning VfB's first win at Hoffenheim since the immortal Martin Harnik kicked the team to victory! Yes, THE Martin Harnik! Part Three's News and Q's starts of with some congratulations to four - FOUR! - members of the team that are wearing the national team kit and will hopefully see the pitch in the upcoming friendlies versus France and the Netherlands. Part Three then dives into a huge issue that is, quite frankly, confusing to most American supporters ... so Matt and Travis attempt to add even MORE confusion to the issue by explaining - from 4,000 miles away - what seems to be going down with the eV, the AG, and all the initials in-between. Oy. Finally - and thankfully! - episode 115 wraps up answering some questions regarding if VfB will ever lose again, elder abuse, American watch parties, and finally Germany's fancy new pink kit. It's a lengthy episode that may in fact be one of the fellas' most controversial episodes as they offer actual OPINIONS. YIKES! It's yet another victory podcast as Matt and Travis celebrate by actually purchasing actual equipment to help them sound better ... even if the content of their sound is the usual level of lousiness! Part One Shout Out's go to ESPN+ announcer Kevin for nailing VfBingo, the Frauen for opening up the second half of their season with a win, and pondering some new items in the VfB shop. Part Two breaks down the match versus former bogey team FC Union and the guys try to use some of the major talking points of the match - counter-pressing and link-up play. In doing so, they give some love to the masked man that is Anthony, praise Alex, continue to be in awe of the rapport of Maxi and Chris on the left side, and, of course, continue to marvel at the play of the one and only Serhou. Part Three's News and Q's looks at some new contract extensions - with an obvious focus on one particular member of the Hoeneß family - and then answer questions we never thought we'd ever have to answer regarding ... the Champions League. What. A. Season! Part Four wraps up with a look at the upcoming match against a now depleted Hoffenheim before thanking the 1910s for giving us the gift that is daylight savings time. Yikes. Like we mentioned, we may sound better, but that doesn't mean we are better! It's episode 113 as Matt and Travis celebrate a first road win at Wolfsburg in almost two decades! Matt, back from across the pond, helps Travis give some Part One Shout Outs to the Frauen, ponder a visit to Ulm, and consider some of the new items in the VfB team shop. [Note: we had some slight sound issues that we modified before the start of Part Two ... we don't sound any smarter but hopefully we sound a little better!] Part Two's look at the solid win at WOB breaks the match down into two parts, defense and offense, and the guys give some praise to the all-out leadership of Captain Waldy, the play of newbie Anthony, and how the team is still missing the enormous presence of DJ Daxo. Offensively, Chris and Maxi somehow overshadow near-record goal scorer Serhou while the guys wonder if VfB is playing too ... playful? The segment ends with a look at the upcoming schedule and why Deniz's somewhat controversial comment a few weeks ago turned out to be, well, not controversial at all. Headlines and Questions in Part Three include rumors regarding Porsche, the opening of the full stands at MHP Arena, whether Serhou's arse-kicking celebration should become a thing, and how this season has changed everyone's goals ... including that of those playing on the pitch. Part Four's Odds and Predictions is yet another optimistic look at the coming match day, this time a home match versus the club VfB shall forever be tied to - FC Union Berlin. And we even fix our sound after Part One. How's THAT for professionalism?! Episode 112 covers the disappointing draw to the relegation threatened Billy Goats and so who better than Hennes supporter Jake from @50PlusDoner to check in to give us a bit of an outsider's view on how the match - and the season - are going for the fellas in white and red. Part One gives Shout Outs to the VfB Frauen, the ESPN+ announcing team, and, of course, Gil Dias. Of course. Part Two breaks down the home draw to KOE, and both Jake and Travis take a look at how the season has gone for both clubs, the match, and statements of VfB team leaders post-match, before trying to predict the future for both clubs. Part Three's Headlines & Questions cover the DFL vote as well as, with only 11 matches to go, the increasing expectations on the team. The segment ends with Questions comparing the run of 1. FC Köln back in 2016/2017 to that of VfB Stuttgart this season and Jake offers some words of warning - and wisdom - regarding the latter. Part Four's look at the upcoming match against Wolfsburg ends with a positive prediction by both Jake and Travis, though Travis throws out an odd reason why he thinks VfB's offense may get into gear on the road - a goalie named Alex. It's a somewhat Hennes-heavy episode complete with some interesting thoughts from a VfB outsider on the current state of all things brustring!
